Lynrd Skynrd/  Nakano Sunplaza 1977 / 3CDR

The first miracle visit to Japan that was realized only once during the lifetime of Ronnie Van Zandt. The original recording that conveys the scene is a new excavation.
It was the two Nakano Sunplaza performances that were imbued with this work. Audience set 3 discs with the full recording of “January 15, 1977” on DISC 1-2 and the recording of “January 16” on DISC 3. Speaking of their first visit to Japan, we have been archiving with the press masterpieces “ONE MORE FROM THE NIGHTS” and “TOKYO 1977 FINAL NIGHT (Uxbridge 1318)”. What is the relationship between those and this work? In terms of organizing that area, let’s first look back on the schedule at that time.

Above, all 5 performances. Except for the 1st performance in Osaka, everything was a strange composition called Nakano Sunplaza. Among them, the second and third performances are recorded in this work. The press board “ONE MORE FROM THE NIGHTS” was also the second performance (January 15th), but this work is a completely different recording (By the way, “January 16th” is an incomplete recording because it is one disc. am).
This work, which is a vacuum-packed version of these two performances, is a truly exquisite audience recording. First of all, the main “Recording on January 15th (DISC 1-2)” is not as good as the press masterpiece “ONE MORE FROM THE NIGHTS”. No, it’s far superior! “ONE MORE FROM THE NIGHTS” was a powerful and direct feeling, but it was also a double-edged sound with a slight overpeak. However, while this work has the same direct feeling, it does not scare at all. The slight hall sound creates thickness and dynamism, but it never gives a sense of distance. While the powerful live music is approaching in front of you, it also has the beauty of being familiar to your ears.
And what is even more surprising is “Recording on January 16th (DISC 3)”. The individuality and tendency of the sound is similar to “Recorded on January 15 (DISC 1-2)”, but I’m afraid that it is more clear. The crisp playing sound cuts through the air, yet there is no kinky and hard to hear. Although it is a recording that is not suitable for a single release because the first few songs are not recorded, you can not miss it even if you press it … No, it is an absolute must-listen class. If it was a complete recording with this, it is a famous recording that spills even overly luxurious complaints.

…… And it looks like this. Two songs, “I Ain’t the One” and “Workin’for MCA”, were not recorded in “January 16 (DISC 3) Recording”. It seems that “Crossroads” was not played in the first place. The “STREET SURVIVORS” number, which cannot be heard on the official edition “ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD”, was also shown. Also, “Travellin’Man” is a delicious song that I couldn’t hear in the final performance “TOKYO 1977 FINAL NIGHT”.
The fierce live performance has been handed down in the history of Japanese and Western music, but the highlight “Free Bird” is particularly intense. In both performances, a big enthusiastic performance of 13 minutes or more, which exceeds “ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD”, is bitten, and a fierce enthusiastic performance like a battle between Ronnie Van Zand’s hot vocals and three guitars is unfolded. Especially “January 15 (DISC 2) recording” is amazing. The enthusiasm flooded the audience forward, creating a riot that made the recording itself unsustainable. The recording of the original tape was finished in the middle, but in this work it is complemented with the “ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD” take. We have completely reproduced the precious show.
The legendary LYNYRD SKYNYRD came to Japan for the first time, delivering genuine Southern rock to the Far East without knowing that the tragedy was creeping up. It is a miracle new excavation album that lets you experience the scene with a fresh sound. I missed the permanent preservation because it was not perfect because there was a recording omission, but the content is a cultural heritage grade item.
