“November 18, 1973 Sausalito” is recorded in this work. It is the stereo sound board recording. The biggest taste of this work is the synchronized feeling that Linda’s singing voice is poured directly into her brain, but first of all, the position. It was a studio live for the San Francisco radio station “KSAN-FM”.
The pattern was released from the broadcast and produced a number of existing episodes, reigning as a classic sound board representing Linda in the “DON’T CRY NOW” era. This work is also such an FM sound board, and it is a branded product made into a CD from the master who is considered to be the best. In fact, the sound of this work is like a studio album. そんな本作に記録されているのは「1973年11月18日サウサリート」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。本作最大の旨みはリンダの歌声が脳みそに直接流し込まれるシンクロ感にあるわけですが、まずはポジション。彼女のソロキャリアでも最多公演だった当時のツアースケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

これが1973年のリンダ・ロンシュタット。公演数は最多であってもワールドツアーではなく、ひたすら母国アメリカ（とお隣カナダ）を徹底的にサーキット。アルバム発売前後にはアトランタやシカゴで同会場に腰を据えて何公演も行っていましたが、本作のサウサリート公演は移動とステージを繰り返していた「北米#2」。その最後にあたるパフォーマンスでした。ただし、この日はいわゆるステージ・ライヴではありませんでした。現場となった“レコード・プラント”はコンサート会場ではなく、録音スタジオ。サンフランシスコのラジオ局“KSAN-FM”用に行われたスタジオ・ライヴだったのです。
その模様は放送去れた事で数々の既発を生み、『DON’T CRY NOW』時代のリンダを代表する定番サウンドボードとして君臨。本作もそんなFMサウンドボードであり、ベストとされるマスターからCD化された銘品なのです。実際、本作のサウンドはまるでスタジオ・アルバム。１曲終わる毎に喝采も起きますが、あくまでスタッフによるもので大観衆のスペクタクルなどは皆無。もちろん、サウンド的にも広がりなどはなく、小さいスタジオの密室感がありありと伝わるのです。
もちろん、それが悪いわけではない。スタジオの密室感はステージではあり得ないほどのシンクロ感を生みだし、リンダの歌声もジェフ・バクスターのスティール・ギターも完全脳内再生。まるで頭蓋がコンソール・ルームになったようなシンクロ感で没入できるのです。しかも、サウンド的にはスタジオ・アルバムでも演奏自体は生。リンダの歌声はやり直しのない生々しさに溢れ、吐息まで超リアル。今すぐそこに彼女がいて、マイクへ息を流し込んでいるような現実感が凄いのです。
その超シンクロ・サウンドで描かれるのは、初期ソロを濃縮したベスト盤のような特濃パフォーマンス。ここでその内容も整理しておきましょう。
