Rare Japanese TV Programme of Led Zeppelin Special(Broadcast in October 1988)

The Japanese broadcast program “Music Masters II” in the fall of 1988, which once terrified King Crimson and Pink Floyd fans with its too original images. This week, Led Zeppelin’s episode, which is said to have finally been broadcast for the first time in the series, is here. It seems that it was broadcast at midnight in the Kanto area, but the take of this edition will include a local commercial of “Saga Nick Bowl” at the beginning, so this is the original broadcast version in Kansai. A bowling alley commercial with a beautiful older sister who surprises the listener with a voice like “It’s a Computer Bowling!” .. By the way, the essential Led Zeppelin. Maybe it didn’t take long to make it because it was the first time, or maybe it was decided that such a method did not fit the image of the band, it was fully developed in the later broadcast Pink Floyd, King Crimson. Unfortunately, the original handmade images that are disappointing rarely appear, and the text of the biography & discography appears on the images made like slide shows of famous photographs throughout, which is quite normal content. Well, it was a super big band called Led Zeppelin, and it was the first time in the series, so I think it was a decision to go seriously here. Even if I was able to show some basic information, mainly still images, with the official track in the background, I think that the viewers, including those days, said, “What is it?”, But in the 1980s, Japan Zeppelin’s 30-minute TV special, which was produced under the initiative, is still worth adding to the collection for enthusiasts. In a slightly unusual place, Dazed And Confused is a two-minute excerpt from the movie “Eternal Poetry” scene, and I was surprised to see that in the 42nd second it was connected to a rough cut that did not seem to be a broadcast take To do. かつて、その、あまりにオリジナルな映像で、キング・クリムゾン、ピンク・フロイド・ファンを戦慄させた1988年秋の日本放送プログラム「音楽の巨匠たち Ⅱ」。今週は、遂にそのシリーズ第一回目に放送されたと伝え聞く、レッド・ツェッペリンの回が登場です。関東圏でも深夜放送されたそうですが、本盤のテイクは、冒頭、「嵯峨ニックボウル」のローカル・コマーシャルが入りますので、こちらは関西でのオリジナル放送版です。「It’s a Computer Bowling!」とボコーダーを通したみたいな声が聴き手を驚愕させる、綺麗なお姉さんが登場するボーリング場のコマーシャルCMは、ある意味非常に80年代しており、本編同様に必見です。さて、肝心のレッド・ツェッペリン。第一回目ということで製作に時間がかけられなかったのか、ないしは、バンドのイメージにそういった手法は合わないと判断したのか、後の放送のピンク・フロイド、キング・クリムゾンではたっぷりと展開された、呆気にとられるようなオリジナルなハンドメイド映像は残念ながら殆ど登場せず、全体を通して、有名写真のスライドショウみたいな作りの映像に、バイオグラフィー＆ディスコグラフィーのテキストが載るという、至って普通とも言える内容です。まぁレッド・ツェッペリンという超大物バンド、そしてシリーズ第一回目ですので、ここは真面目に行きましょう、といった判断だったのではないでしょうか。静止画を中心に、オフィシャルトラックをバックに割とベーシックな情報を淡々と見せられても、観る者は、当時も含め「なんだかな―」と言った感じだったと思いますが、80年代、日本主導で製作されたツェッペリンのテレビ30分特集番組は、やはりマニアはコレクションに加える価値はあると思います。ちょっと変わった所では、Dazed And Confusedは映画「永遠の詩」シーンから2分間抜粋していることで、42秒目で放送テイクと思えない位荒っぽいカットと繋ぎをしているのに驚かされたりします。30分の枠の中で、バンドの歴史をかいつまんでの説明が入るわけですが、ジョン・ボーナムの死のパートでは「酔っ払って寝込んでしまい、窒息死と言われているが、この時もペイジが魔法を使ったという噂がまことしやかに流れた」等の説明がはいるのも、80年だなーという気がします。トラッキング・ノイズが入る部分もありますが、画質は当時のビデオ録画としては上質と断言できます。と言うわけで、過度な期待はせず、80年代後半のムードに浸りながら、のんびりと、この（おそらくほとんどのファンは持っていないと思われる）レアな1988年10月の放送テイクをお楽しみいただけたらと思います。これもまた一興！
