“ANIMALIZE” was Mark St. John’s only participating work and recorded the biggest hit of no-make KISS. Introducing a demo album that digs out the production site.
The treasures of 5 songs and 14 takes are included in this work. This is a studio album that records the sessions from the rehearsal in April 1984 to May 29, when the main recording was advanced. This recording was excavated more than 10 years ago and shook maniacs around the world. Not only is it a hidden treasure that has not been known until then, but the sound quality is also excellent. This work is a press CD that permanently preserves the impact.
Although the demos for 5 songs are recorded in this work, they are not organized by song, but are roughly in chronological order of recording (with some exceptions). Let’s introduce each session.

● May 16, 1984 session (2 songs)
“Heaven’s On Fire” “Thrills In The Night”
The first thing that appeared was a rough mix of two songs. “ANIMALIZE” was rehearsed in April 1984 and the production started in May, so this session is still in the early stages of production. Even if you say “demo” in a word, the individuality differs considerably depending on the production stage, such as the composition stage, the arrangement stage, the temporary assembly of this take, and the bottom version of the production mix. These two takes were recorded on the same day, but it’s interesting because the stages are all different. The representative song “Heaven’s On Fire” that appears at the beginning is suddenly nearing completion. It seems that the count is included and some takes are different, but the basic arrangement is solid and the chorus is also included. It may have been written early, but it’s a perfection that doesn’t seem to be in the early stages of production.
However, “Thrills In The Night” is a rough take that seems to be in the early days. The sound is like a riff strummed on the basis of a great rhythm track. There is a part of the chorus, but it’s just like “here is the chorus” and the progress of the song, and it’s basically an instrumental version without vocals.

● May 20, 1984 (?) Session (2 songs)
“Under The Gun” “Thrills In The Night (partial)”
Next up are “Under The Gun” with an unknown date and “Thrills In The Night” recorded on May 20th. “Under The Gun” is an instrumental version with a little chorus like “Thrills In The Night” above, and it may be a session on May 16th. However, the rhythm and solo are highly complete, and you can fully enjoy the feeling of sprinting.
On the other hand, “Thrills In The Night” is a solo overdubbing part only. It is a type that does not enjoy as a separate version, but looks into the production process of trial and error of parts.

● May 25, 1984 session (5 songs, 7 takes)
“Heaven’s On Fire” “Thrills In The Night”
“I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire)” “Get All You Can Take (2 takes)”
“Under The Gun (partial, 2 takes)”
The next session will be the main session of this work. On this day, “rough mix for 2 songs”, “initial demo for 2 songs (3 takes)”, and “parts for 1 song (2 takes)” are recorded.
First of all, the rough mix is two songs, “Heaven’s On Fire” and “Thrills In The Night”. “Heaven’s On Fire” has been pretty much completed as of May 16th, and the basics haven’t changed much, with the polish going on here as well. On the contrary, “Thrills In The Night” has evolved all at once. The vocals are also dubbed with effects, and the final shape is clearly visible.
Next is “I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire)” and “Get All You Can Take” recorded by Scat’s guide vocals whose lyrics have not been decided yet. However, even though the song is a guide, the performance arrangement is sharp, and the rhythm section and the guitar are sharp. I can’t say for sure that there will be the same take as the final version, but even so, the degree of perfection is not strange. Because it is a basic instrument, it is a take that exposes the original coolness of the song.
And the parts recording is “Under The Gun”. In the final version, the last of the song is closed with Mark’s solo, but here, in addition to that solo, I’m trying another arrangement that tightens with a drum pattern.

● May 29, 1984 session (2 songs)
“I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire) (partial)” “Get All You Can Take? (Partial)”
In the session at the end of May, more detailed parts were recorded. Mark didn’t touch the composition of “ANIMALIZE”, and he put a guitar on the finished song, but these parts recordings highlight his presence.

● April 1984 Rehearsal (1 song)
“Thrills In The Night”
Up to this point, the production process has been followed in chronological order, but the last recorded is a very early demo that goes back in time. It is “Thrills In The Night” which seems to be the composition stage. However, it is not an unrelenting jam, and the basic backing pattern and song composition have already been solidified. I can’t say for sure, but it’s a demo that feels like the whole band remembers the basics of the song taught by Paul.

The above is a studio treasure with 5 songs and 14 takes. “ANIMALIZE”, a studio demo that is interesting to listen to as a different version of a masterpiece and a masterpiece, and is full of the real thrill of looking into the production process. Please enjoy it carefully with a press CD that permanently preserves the finest quality that enthusiasts from all over the world have delighted.

★ A demo album that digs out the production site of “ANIMALIZE”. Five songs “Heaven’s On Fire” “Thrills In The Night” “Under The Gun” “Under The Gun” You can enjoy the initial versions of “I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire)” and “Get All You Can Take” and solo parts recording.

「Heaven’s On Fire」「Thrills In The Night」

「Under The Gun」「Thrills In The Night(一部)」
続いて登場するのが日付不明の「Under The Gun」と、5月20日録音の「Thrills In The Night」。

「Heaven’s On Fire」「Thrills In The Night」
「I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire)」「Get All You Can Take(2テイク)」
「Under The Gun(一部・2テイク)」
まずラフミックスは「Heaven’s On Fire」「Thrills In The Night」の2曲。 逆に一気に進化したのは「Thrills In The Night」。
次は、まだ歌詞も決まっていないスキャットのガイド・ヴォーカルで録られた「I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire)」「Get All You Can Take」。
そして、パーツ録音は「Under The Gun」。

「I’d Have Enough (Into The Fire)(一部)」「Get All You Can Take?(一部)」

「Thrills In The Night」
作曲段階と思われる「Thrills In The Night」です。
