KANSAS boiled with the new work “THE PRELUDE IMPLICIT” for the first time in 17 years and “LEFTOVERTURE complete reproduction tour”. Their latest and finest professional shots are now available in the gift title. This work was shot in “October 3, 2016 New York City”. This is a multi-camera pro shot that was broadcast on the web on “iHeartRadio”. The reproduction tour of the 40th anniversary of the famous board “LEFTOVERTURE” started from the end of September, and this work appeared immediately after the start. That’s why the content attracted attention, but unfortunately this day was just a studio live for the program, not a reproduction. However, its quality is perfect for the latest digital broadcasting. The image quality, sound, and mix are completely official, and it’s so perfect that no more words can be said. Even if the quality is official, the scene drawn with that quality is a little different from the official work. First of all, the venue is small. It’s a studio recording that is likely to fill up with 200 or 300 people, and the composition with interviews between songs and very simple lighting are completely different from the spectacle of a large venue of a normal concert. However, that’s why you can meet KANSAS that is different from usual. The live performance with a lot of spectators in the small studio has a lot of intimacy like a club. The camera also has a different dimension of closeness from the usual professional shots, and not only Ronnie Pratt, but also the original member Phil Ihart and the one-eyed guitarist Richard Williams’ facial expressions are featured. And KANSAS playing in such an environment is also wonderful. If it’s a new band that pops out, it’s okay to play hard in a different environment than usual, but there is a big veteran of 100 battles. As soon as you start the song, you can hear the enthusiasm that the room temperature in the small studio rises at once. The major songs of “MASQUE”, “LEFTOVERTURE” and “POINT OF KNOW RETURN” are also nice, but the point is the new songs “With This Heart”, “Refugee” and “Rhythm in the Spirit” from “THE PRELUDE IMPLICIT”. Both were just released on September 23, and this is the third live performance. You can enjoy it with the official-class moving images as early as possible. The complete reproduction live album of the famous board “LEFTOVERTURE” and the news of the performance in Japan are long-awaited these days, but instead of calming such feelings, it is a sin-making superb professional shot that burns up. One that shines with such perfect quality and KANSAS performance. We will deliver it to you this weekend.

17年ぶりの新作『THE PRELUDE IMPLICIT』と、“LEFTOVERTURE完全再現ツアー”で沸くKANSAS。そんな彼らの最新＆極上プロショットがギフト・タイトルで登場です。本作が撮影されたのは「2016年10月３日ニューヨークシティ」。“iHeartRadio”でウェブ放送されたマルチカメラ・プロショットです。
名盤『LEFTOVERTURE』40周年の再現ツアーは９月末から始まっており、本作はその開始直後での出演。それだけに内容が注目されましたが、残念ながらこの日はあくまで番組用のスタジオ・ライヴであり、再現ではありませんでした。しかし、そのクオリティは最新デジタル放送ならではのパーフェクトぶり。画質もサウンドもミックスも完全にオフィシャル級でして、あまりに完璧でそれ以上の言葉が出てこない次元です。
クオリティはオフィシャル級でも、その品質で描かれる光景はオフィシャル作品とはちょっと違う。まず、会場が狭い。200人か300人も入ればいっぱいになってしまいそうなスタジオの収録であり、曲間にインタビューを挟む構成や非常に簡素なライティングも、通常コンサートの大会場スペクタクルとはまったく違う雰囲気です。
しかし、だからこそ普段とは違うKANSASに出逢える。その狭いスタジオにいっぱいの観客を入れたライヴはまるでクラブのような親密感がたっぷり。カメラも通常のプロショットとは次元の違う密着感で、ロニー・プラットはもちろん、オリジナルメンバーのフィル・イハートや隻眼のギタリスト：リチャード・ウィリアムスの表情ドアップまでたんまりとフィーチュアされています。
そして、そんな環境で演奏するKANSASがまた素晴らしい。ポッと出の新人バンドなら普段と違う環境に堅い演奏になってもおかしくありませんが、そこは百戦錬磨の大ベテラン。曲を始めるや、狭いスタジオの室温が一気に上がるような熱演を聴かせてくれる。『MASQUE』『LEFTOVERTURE』『POINT OF KNOW RETURN』の大代表曲群も嬉しいですが、ポイントは『THE PRELUDE IMPLICIT』からの新曲「With This Heart」「Refugee」「Rhythm in the Spirit」。いずれも９月23日にリリースされたばかりで、本作は３回目の生演奏。それが早くもオフィシャル級の動く映像で堪能できるのです。

名盤『LEFTOVERTURE』の完全再現ライヴアルバム、そして来日公演の報が待ち遠しい昨今ですが、そんな気持ちを鎮めるどころか、燃え上がらせてしまう罪作りな極上プロショット。それほどまでにパーフェクトなクオリティとKANSASの演奏が輝く１本。今週末、あなたのお手元へお届けいたします。
