Similar to ZEP’s Offenbach, several years ago we recorded the bestsellers in our store, and some of the items we have long wanted to re-release are surprising artists. That’s Jimi Hendrix’s “RAINBOW BRIDGE COLOR SOUND EXPERIMENT”. This was a press CD item released overseas that was exclusively received at that time, and there was a live on Maui recorded on July 30, 1970 in Hawaii. Of course, it was a hidden best-selling title of the time that it called a reputation among manias from the title of the valuable contents that recorded the live of Jimi later years in the sound board recording, and recorded the Sold Out every time this arrived. It is The recorded live is not only a late-life show, but also extremely valuable in that it is a complete version of the show taken for the movie “RAINBOW BRIDGE”. That’s why the whole story is a sound board recording, so it’s bestseller.
In other words, it was a high popularity that the streaming full-length version of the sound source recorded for the movie was called, but of course “RAINBOW BRIDGE COLOR SOUND EXPERIMENT” is not the first release, and rather it was 10 years ago A seminal official CD “THE RAINBOW BRIDGE CONCERT” that has been used to become a staple sound source as it was produced. However, there is intense equalization there, and the finish that the edge of the sound literally sticks to the ear has been criticized among mania since that time. The point was that “RAINBOW BRIDGE ~” was a popular secret that it recorded the soundboard recording of Maui for 70 years with very honest sound quality without being subjected to anachronistic equalization.

The original version of this title was on the net with the title “MAUI WOWEE-BOB TERRY TAPES”. As the subtitles indicate, it was on the market as part of a collection of low-generation cassettes owned by Jimi’s Core Mania. His version is a rough mix of multitrack tapes recorded for movies. If you’re a mania, you know that the sound of Mitch Mitchell’s drum wasn’t captured well in some of the songs during that recording, and in some of the performances that were adopted in the film from the two shows, Jimi’s death Later on in the studio, Mitch overdubbed a new drum track while streaming film.
At the first show, drum parts from “Hey Baby / In From The Storm” and “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” and “Purple Haze” are re-recorded. Among them, the medley of “Hey Baby” was later subjected to a new mix and recorded in the 2000 “THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE” box, but of course the recording time is longer for this one. Also, before the song started and some of the “Lover Man” were missing, there was a patched version of the same stereo audience recording on the day (a stereo recording in Hawaii in 1970!). It was And in the sound of the movie there was a organized mix with no sense of incongruity between the unplayed drum performance and the re-recorded one, but here it is the re-recorded music Rough outlines of Mitch’s drums are very rough and interesting.
From “Ezy Rider” adopted in the movie in the second show, the first half of “Hey Baby” also titled “Maui Sunset”, and from unused “Midnight Lightning” (again with patch of the audience recording) Mitch’s drum solo has been re-recorded.
Despite some of these modifications and patching with audience recordings, the point is still high that you can hear the full film of the Maui stage, which was only a glimpse of the fragments in the movie. On the other hand, “RAINBOW BRIDGE COLOR SOUND EXPERIMENT” is just a press CD of the sound source on the net, so the problem of high pitch and low input level throughout the whole seems to be a rough production that seems to be made overseas. was. So, for this release, I will adjust the pitch from “MAUI WOWEE-BOB TERRY TAPES” again to the semitone lowering key specific to Jimi, and the volume is also up. Not only that, I re-washed up to the sound quality of each of the two shows, and evolved to the upper version that lightly beats “RAINBOW BRIDGE ~”.

As a result, Jimi’s very strong performance has come to be heard in a stable state throughout. As you can see from the scenes adopted in the movie, this day was a reflection of Jimi and the band playing on the expansive outdoor stage of Maui. Jimi in the later years is characterized by intensely sluggishness of the performance by the day, but since it was not humbled by a hail in the arena in this arena, it was connected to the wonderful performance that it was possible to devote carefully to the hilarious Hawaii play. I will. Even the promised repertoire like “Foxy Lady” will hear the lively songs of Jimi at the first show, and while shaking the drum solo to Mitch, from the scene where it starts to “Fire” as if it is blocking The height of the tension also came to me.
It is the second show that further escalates. Above all, Jimi’s tension peaked from “Beginnings” (aka “Jam Back At The House”), which is very rare to be played at this time, and the finale “Stone Free” finished playing and “Hey Joe” I wondered if I had started, and once again, the runaway of Jimi that returns to the development of “Stone Free” is overwhelming. The Isle of Wight after the cold went up to the stage was not bad either, but clearly it was reproduced in the high-quality sound board recording of the high-quality sound board recording (Major duo of Gemini Twins The upper version of Jimi’s late-year live performances recorded until the performance will be released on the limited press CD!

ファースト・ショーでは「Hey Baby / In From The Storm」と「Voodoo Child (Slight Return)」からのドラム・ソロ、さらに「Purple Haze」でドラム・パートが録り直されています。
