[Permanent preservation of legendary broadcasts of Japanese Western music] “December 8, 1982: Nippon Budokan” performance is engraved in this work. It is a super sound board recording. This day has a special shine in the history of Japanese Western music. After all, not only JAPAN itself was at the height of popularity, but also the declaration of the dissolution of the shock. Not only the last Budokan performance, but also a performance with a certain famous musician, which was broadcast on the FM radio program “JAPAN SPECIAL” by the Sakai Broadcasting Corporation. That was the reason why the fans of Western music all over Japan challenged the recording and enthusiastically enthusiastically competed with each other for high sound quality. A superb masterpiece of a phantom that disappeared with a limited release for only a week, calling for shock with quality that knocks out the existing group. Yes, this work is a press CD of that shock master.
However, it is not exactly the same. All of the DJ talk that had been a hindrance to the normal release has been deleted (David Sylvian’s MC remains firmly), re-configured as a pure live album, and refined with meticulous mastering. The mastering is not earning sound pressure by dark equalization. We have thoroughly repaired extremely fine vibration and noise. If you have experienced the bonus board, you might think “Is there noise somewhere?”, But this is not noticeable if you listen to it normally. Even if you hear it, applause or noise below the momentary “pu” Level that cannot be determined. This time, they are identified by waveform and double check for full volume playback. They thoroughly found out the possible wounds that could enter the ear and corrected them as much as possible. However, there are less than 10 locations over 100 minutes. You can understand how the former master was excellent.

【日本洋楽史の伝説放送を永久保存】
そんな本作に刻まれているのは「1982年12月８日：日本武道館」公演。その超極上サウンドボード録音です。この日は日本洋楽史において特別な輝きを放っている。何しろ、JAPAN自体が人気絶頂にあっただけでなく、衝撃の解散宣言。その最後の武道館公演というだけでなく、某有名ミュージシャンとの共演も実現し、その模様は某放送協会によるFMラジオ番組“JAPAN SPECIAL”で放送された。それこそ、日本中の洋楽ファンがこぞって録音に挑み、マニア同士で高音質を競うほどの熱狂を引き起こした。特に初回放送は再放送ではカットされた「Quiet Life」まで放送されたこともあり、日本のファンにとっては中途半端な公式盤『OIL ON CANVAS』よりも遙かに重みのある伝説の放送でした。もちろん、JAPAN伝説の象徴音源だけに数々の既発ブートレッグも生み出してきたわけですが、本作はその最高峰を極めた１本なのです。

【至高マスターを磨き込んだ究極クオリティ】
その本作の大元になったのは、ある記録マニアによるマスター。このマニアは音楽番組のアーカイヴをライフワークとしており、80年代から時代時代でハイエンドの機材を更新しては録音／録画し続けた。配線や電波状況、さらにはマスター・カセットの保存環境にも気を配り、“最高の音”を現代まで残してきたのです（日本は放送局の管理が厳格で、海外のように原盤が流出することはまずありません）。当店では、このマニアから提供された極上マスターの数々をご紹介してきましたが、本作もその１つなのです。ここで、以前ご紹介したボーナス２CDR『JAPAN SPECIAL: BUDOKAN 1982』を思い出される方もいらっしゃるでしょう。既発群を一蹴するクオリティで衝撃を呼びつつ、わずか１週間の限定リリースで消えた幻の超名盤。そう、本作はあの衝撃マスターをプレスCD化したものです。
ただし、そっくり同じではありません。通常リリースの妨げになっていたDJトークをすべて削除（デヴィッド・シルヴィアンのMCはしっかり残っています）して純粋なライヴアルバムとして構成し直し、細心マスタリングで磨き込んだ究極仕様なのです。そのマスタリングも無闇矢鱈なイコライジングで音圧稼ぎをしているわけではありません。極々微細な音揺れ、ノイズ等を徹底的に補修したのです。ボーナス盤を体験された方なら「どこかノイズあった？」と思われるかも知れませんが、これは普通に聴いていたら気づかない、もし聞こえたとしても瞬間の「プッ」以下で拍手かノイズが判明できないレベル。今回はそれらを波形で洗い出した上で、さらにフルボリューム再生のダブル・チェック。耳に入る可能性のある傷を徹底的に見つけ出し、可能な限り補正したのです。もっとも、それまでやっても100分以上で10カ所未満。いかに元マスターが優れていたかもご理解いただけるでしょう。

【文化遺産となるライヴアルバムの最高傑作】
そうして究極形に引き上げられた本作から流れ出るのは、『OIL ON CANVAS』にさえ凌駕する名演。これだけの象徴サウンドボードを分析するのも気が引けますが、初めての方のためにもセットを整理しておきましょう。
