[MAIDEN edition of the legendary super active shot] Above, all 7 performances. “NAGOYA 1992” was the first day of my visit to Japan, but this was the 5th performance that the tour went on. The biggest point of this work that recorded such a show is the spectacular view that is amazing. “NAGOYA 1992” also had a wonderful view without any obstruction, but this work is even more intense! I was shooting from the second floor seats looking at the front of the stage, but I couldn’t see the audience at all, probably because it was in the front row. It is not “do not cross the front”. “Not reflected”. Not only the arms and head, but also the first-floor seats that should be spread under the eyes do not enter the angle, and only the stage occupies the field of view thoroughly.
Moreover, the field of view is extremely active! You can understand the members’ do-ups from the screen capture posted on the right, but this movement is surely unexpected. It violently goes back and forth between the do-up and the entire stage, and captures it as if it shoots through the highlights. What’s more, it’s amazing because it’s in sync with the music. If you think that Dickinson who sings cheerfully is captured in a super close-up, pull it with a jerk at the turning point where it accelerates rapidly and produce dynamism. Repeat zooming in and out violently along the up tempo …. It is a camera work at the level of “directing the show itself” beyond the dimension of “recording the show in an easy-to-see manner”. As some of you may have noticed, this work is (probably) by a person who has been acclaimed as a “roller coaster angle” and “super acrobatic shot” by MOTLEY CRUE, MEGADETH, RATT, etc. I can’t say for sure only to the photographer whose name is unknown, but above all, the quality and super-individual camera work are yelling out “That Master’s Maiden Edition”.
Furthermore, this “acrobatic shot” looks great on IRON MAIDEN at the time. After all, at that time Janick Gers joined and it was the second world tour. Yannick’s action that sneaks around the stage is reborn as Maiden, and Bruce also rampages with smooth long hair. Even Dave Murray, who is usually an immovable guitarist, is active, and the stage is wide because there are not six people yet. Camera work doubles the appeal of the stage, where the highlights occur at the same time.
