Introducing a big live set where you can listen to 4 performances of “special” live performances in the history of IRON MAIDEN! This work is an audience recording set containing the first four performances from the Italian tour held in October 1981 immediately after joining Bruce Dickinson. This tour was for the warm-up of the blues, and was the final stage of “KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981”, which was a total of 5 performances. At that time, the song “The Number of the Beast” had not been written yet, and it was a mini tour in which the blues, which was the same beast mode as in the SAMSON era, sang only the repertoire of the Diano era. The final day of the performance in Milan is the press 2CD “KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON (ZODIAC 165)”, but this work covers the other 4 performances. In this way, this work is the first 4 days of the mini tour for 5 consecutive days. As you can see from the fact that it has been made into a press, the performance in Milan on the final day is the highest recording in all, but the other four performances can never be underestimated. This tour has wonderful audience recordings for all five days, and each one is one of the best sounds of “KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981”. Let’s introduce each performance.

[Disc 1: October 26, Bologna performance] It is a recording that recorded the memorable first stage of blues. The video for 7 songs (bonus DVDR “FIRST GIG WITH DICKINSON” released this week) is also known on this day, but this work is a live full recording from “Sanctuary” to the last “I’ve Got The Fire”. It’s an album. The sound is a good audience recording with a thick musical tone. The band sound has a rounded feel, but the essential blues singing comes directly from it. Anyway, the sound is close, and the closest feeling like a sound board dubbed for a few generations is the best. You might think “Oh, it’s not good!” With this disc alone, but this is not the end of the greatness of this work …

[Disc 2: October 27, Rome performance] Disc 2 is the second day greeted by the enthusiasm of the audience. If you listen to it continuously from Disc 1, you will be awakened to the clear sound that spreads all at once! The dignified musical sound penetrates straight through the space full of transparency, which is out of the order of the rounded disc 1. Five types of recordings are known for this day, but the source of this work is a reprint from the legendary LP “MAIDEN ROME”. However, the distinctiveness of the sound is so vivid that it cannot be thought of as an analog wake. Especially amazing is Steve Harris’s base. Pleasure continuous fire of attack sound attacks with a rugged backlash. However, it’s not just the bass that has a big balance, it’s the type that stands out because of the good sound.
Moreover, this work also includes the UFO “Doctor, Doctor” that flows from another master to the opening. “The Ides Of March” is the standard opening at this time, but maybe I forgot the tape on that day, the snow fell into “Sanctuary” as it was. It is an extremely rare opening in the long history of IRON MAIDEN.

[Disc 3: Performance in Florence on October 28] Even with this masterpiece recording set, it was the third day that was clear and clear. In the first place, this performance in Florence was known as “shobo recording” in this Italian tour. No, I knew that the recording itself was actually good, but the master in circulation was sloppy, and it was extremely unstable as if it was caused by a deck with a dead battery. However, the master excavated in recent years has a crisp sound without any dust such as pitch twist! That’s what the press 2CD “KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON” is as good as … I mean, the sharpness may be better than the press 2CD. I missed the press because there was no encore “I’ve Got The Fire” that I probably played, and the tape was slightly less fresh, but it is a so-called “soundboard” masterpiece recording.
The live drawn with that sound is hot again. The blues have been flying since the first day, but the sharpness of the shout is even more terrible, probably because the details have begun to come out on the third day. And the audience is also Moretsu! Although this tour was very enthusiastic for all 5 days, the power of this day was a little different. It’s not the type that drowns out the musical sounds (never!), But the clapping that approaches without any disturbance can be said to be one of the rhythm sections. It is a piece full of famous performances because it has a wonderful audience.

[Disc 4: Padua performance on October 29] On the 4th day, which concludes this work, the master who is familiar with the popular “4TH NIGHT WITH BRUCE (Shades 316)”. It is a gem recording that has been released as a “sound board” along with the performance in Milan on the final day, and its fierce direct feeling is perfect even in this work of great masterpieces. Although it is already a master loved by many people, in order to easily complete the collection, it has been further remastered to treat slight noise and finish it with a sound that is unified with the previous 3 days. I did.

While each one is a press-class sound, it is a luxurious work that you can listen to from the blues premiere to the 4th at a stretch. By combining with “KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON (ZODIAC 165)”, you can complete all the live performances of “Bruce Dickinson who only sings songs from the Diano era”. Even so, I wonder if all five days of such precious and ferocious performances will remain with intense sound … Of course, the apex recording “KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON” is an absolute recommendation, but if you are satisfied with that alone, there is a lot to be desired. A 4-disc set full of miraculous live performances that promises more than just a collection, it’s a dignified completion.

IRON MAIDEN史上でも“特別中の特別”なライヴをまとめて４公演聴けるビッグなライヴセットの登場です！　本作は、ブルース・ディッキンソン加入直後の1981年10月に行われたイタリア・ツアーから冒頭４公演を収めたオーディエンス録音セット。このツアーはブルースのウォームアップのためのもので、“KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981”の最終盤にあたる全５公演でした。当時はまだ「魔力の刻印」の曲は書かれておらず、SAMSON時代そのままの野獣モードなブルースがディアノ時代のレパートリーだけを絶唱するミニツアーだったのです。最終日のミラノ公演はプレス２CD「KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON（ZODIAC 165）」になっていますが、本作はそれ以外の４公演を網羅しているのです。まずは、この1981年イタリア・ツアーの日程を確認してみましょう。

このように、本作は５日連続のミニツアーの冒頭４日間。プレス化されていることからも分かるとおり、最終日のミラノ公演こそが総てにおいて頂点を極める録音なのですが、他４公演も決して侮れない。このツアーは５日間とも素晴らしい客席録音が残されており、その１本ずつが“KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981”屈指のサウンドなのです。それでは、各公演をご紹介していきましょう。

【ディスク１：10月26日ボローニャ公演】
記念すべきブルース初ステージを記録した録音です。この日は７曲分の映像（今週リリースのボーナスDVDR「FIRST GIG WITH DICKINSON」）も知られていますが、本作は「Sanctuary」からラストの「I’ve Got The Fire」までフル収録のライヴアルバムです。そのサウンドは、楽音も図太い良好なオーディエンス録音。バンドサウンドには丸みも感じられますが、その中から肝心要のブルースの絶唱がダイレクトに飛び込んでくる。とにかく音が近く、２・３世代ほどダビングしたサウンドボードのような直近感が最高です。このディスクだけでも「お、なかなかイイじゃない！」と思われることでしょうが、本作の凄味はこれで終わりはしないのです……。

【ディスク２：10月27日ローマ公演】
ディスク２は、オーディエンスの熱狂で迎えられる２日目。ディスク１から続けて聴かれた方は、一気に広がるクリア・サウンドに目の覚める思いがすることでしょう！　丸みを帯びたディスク１とはケタ外れに透明感あふれる空間を、凛とした楽音がまっすぐに突き抜ける。この日の録音は５種類が知られていますが、本作の元になっているのは伝説のLP「MAIDEN ROME」から復刻されたもの。しかし、そのサウンドの際立ちはアナログ起こしとは思えないほどに鮮烈なのです。特に凄いのは、スティーヴ・ハリスのベース。ゴリッゴリのバッキバキで、アタック音の快感連射が襲いかかる。とは言え、ベースだけ大きいバランスなのではなく、音の良さによって浮き立つタイプなのです。
しかも、本作では別マスターからオープニングに流れるUFOの「Doctor, Doctor」も収録。この時期のオープニングは「The Ides Of March」が定番なのですが、この日はテープを忘れでもしたのか、そのまま「Sanctuary」に雪崩れ込む。長いIRON MAIDEN 史上でも極めて珍しいオープニングです。

【ディスク３：10月28日フィレンツェ公演】
傑作録音ぞろいの本作でも、ズバ抜けてクリアな３日目。そもそも、このフィレンツェ公演は、このイタリア・ツアーの中でも「ショボい録音」として知られるものでした。いや、実際には録音自体が良いことは分かっていたのですが、流通しているマスターがヨレヨレで、電池切れのデッキから起こしたような不安定極まりないものだったのです。ところが、近年発掘されたマスターはピッチのヨレなど微塵もなく、キリッとしたサウンド！　それこそプレス２CD「KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON」にも負けない……と言いますか、キレの良さはプレス２CD以上かも知れません。恐らくは演奏したであろうアンコールの「I’ve Got The Fire」がないこと、テープ鮮度がわずかに及ばないことからプレス化は逃しましたが、いわゆる「まるでサウンドボード」な大傑作録音です。
そのサウンドで描かれるライヴがまた熱い。初日から飛ばしまくっていたブルースですが、３日目になって細部に至るまでこなれ始めてきたのか、シャウトのキレも一層凄まじい。そして、観客もモーレツ！　このツアーは全５日間とも大熱狂ではあるものの、この日の迫力はちょっと次元が違う。楽音をかき消すようなタイプでは（決して！）ないのですが、ビシッと乱れなく迫る手拍子は、リズム隊のひとつと言ってもいいほど。素晴らしいオーディエンスがいるからこその名演がたっぷり詰まった１枚です。

【ディスク４：10月29日パドヴァ公演】
本作を締めくくる４日目は、大人気の「4TH NIGHT WITH BRUCE（Shades 316）」でもお馴染みのマスター。最終日ミラノ公演と並んで「サウンドボード」として出回ったこともある逸品録音で、その激烈なダイレクト感は大傑作ぞろいの本作でもピカイチ。すでに多くの方に愛されているマスターではありますが、手軽にコレクションを完璧にするため、さらにリマスターを施し、わずかにあったノイズをトリートメントすると共に前３日間と統一感をもたせたサウンドに仕上げました。

１本１本がプレス級サウンドでありながら、ブルース初演から４回目までを一気に聴ける贅沢作。「KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON（ZODIAC 165）」と合わせることで、“ディアノ時代の曲しか歌わないブルース・ディッキンソン”の全ライヴがコンプリートできます。それにしても、これほど貴重で猛烈な熱演ぞろいの５日間がすべて強烈サウンドで残っていようとは……。頂点録音の「KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON」こそ、もちろん無論の絶対推しですが、それだけで満足されていたらもったいにもほどがある。単なるコレクション以上の満足をお約束する奇跡ライヴがたっぷり詰まった４枚組、堂々の完成です！
