Headless, the highest jazz collector’s label, has reissued the valuable titles of handmade labels for collectors, which were distributed only in a small part, from the official master who took over. Hawk is here. Rare titles are re-appearing at affordable prices with reissue emblems and new back jackets.

This is a live version of “Head Hunters” by Herbie Hancock, a monumental album that shines brightly in the history of jazz-funk and fusion. Live right after the album was released. The members are almost the same. The drums have changed from Harvey Mason to Mike Clark, but after that the band name is also an important person who will become established as he continues to work as “Headhunters”. By the way, in terms of the coolness of introducing band members at live performances. First place is King Curtis of King Pins in “Memphis Soul Stew”. Second place is Herbie Hancock of VSOP in “Hang Up Your Hang Ups”. Hancock has a cool voice despite being a keyboard player, and here too, a cool introduction is made with the groove of the band in the background. Both of the recorded sound sources are easy to listen to on the sound board and are recommended for beginners.

ジャズ・ファンク、フュージョン史上に燦然と輝く金字塔アルバム、ハービー・ハンコックの『ヘッドハンターズ』を再現したライヴ盤です。まさにそのアルバムがリリースされた直後のライヴ。メンバーもほぼそのままです。ドラムがハーヴィー・メイソンからマイク・クラークに代わっていますが、この後バンド名も“ヘッドハンターズ”として活動を続けていく中で定着していく重要人物です。ところで、ライヴでのバンド・メンバー紹介のかっこよさと言う点においてです。一位は『メンフィス・ソウル・シチュー』でのキング・ピンズのキング・カーティス。二位が『Hang Up Your Hang Ups』でのVSOPのハービー・ハンコックです。ハンコックはキーボード・プレイヤーのくせに声がかっこよく、ここでもバンドのグルーヴをバックにクールな紹介が行われております。収録されている二音源ともサウンドボードで聴きやすく、初心者にもお勧めです。
