HEART in 1988 was in the middle of the heyday with consecutive hits of “HEART” and “BAD ANIMALS”. Introducing the finest original master who conveys the performance in Japan.
The performance recorded in this work is “April 2, 1988: Yoyogi Olympic Pool”. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of Yoyogi in 1988, “DREAMS OVER (Shades 062)” and “BAD ANIMALS IN TOKYO” are familiar in our shop, but this work is different from both. In order to explain the situation in that area, let’s first look back on the schedule at that time and confirm the position of the show.

・ March 28: Nagoya City Assembly Hall
・ March 29: Nagoya City Assembly Hall
・ March 30: Osaka Castle Hall
・ April 1: Yoyogi National Gymnasium ← * BAD ANIMALS IN TOKYO
・ April 2: Yoyogi National Gymnasium ← ★ This work ★
・ April 5: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium

Above, all 6 performances. “BAD ANIMALS IN TOKYO” is the day before the venue. It’s the same show as “DREAMS OVER”, but it’s a completely different recording. And that sound is amazing. It’s a real audience recording where you can hear conversational voices such as “Huh yo” and “I can’t see your face” before the performance starts, but when the intro of “Bad Animals” begins to flow, I’m really impressed with the superb performance sound and singing voice. Be pulled out. Unlike the previous guest record feeling, the thick core reaches the ear without a sense of distance, and if the details are clear to the finest parts, the separate feeling of each instrument is also wonderful. The “DREAMS OVER” master was also wonderfully clear, but the feeling of close contact with this work is incomparable. It’s the best time to think again, “No, it wasn’t an FM broadcast” every time between songs.
Moreover, this work is also the longest in history. No matter how good the sound is, it’s the cassette era. It is inevitable that the tape change will not be recorded, and there were three cuts in this recording as well. Therefore, in this work, it is supplemented with the “DREAMS OVER” master. We have realized a seamless complete recording of the full show of the day from corner to corner.
The direct sound is drawn with a sparkling full show that had been firing platinum albums in rapid succession. Speaking of live in the Capitol era, the official board “ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE!” Is the standard, but even if this work is the same member, the tour is different. The sets are also very different, so let’s organize them while comparing them.

● Classics (8 songs + α)
・ DREAMBOAT ANNIE: Dreambat Annie / Crazy On You / Magic Man
・ LITTLE QUEEN: Barracuda (★) / Love Alive (★)
・ DOG & BUTTERFLY: Straight On
・ BEBE LE STRANGE: Even It Up
・ PASSIONWORKS: How Can I Refuse? (★)
・ Cover: Keep A Knockin’/ Rock And Roll
● 80’s Capitol era (11 songs)
・ HEART: The Wolf / Nothin’At All / What About Love / These Dreams / Never / If Looks Could Kill (★)
・ BAD ANIMALS: Bad Animals / I Want You So Bad / Wait For An Answer / Who Will You Run To (★) / Alone
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that was also heard in “ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE!”.

… And it looks like this. Normally, rare notable songs are marked with “★”, but this time the opposite is true. About 20 songs are played at this show, but only 5 songs were heard in “ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE!”. Everything else is uncovered. Especially, “Bad Animals”, “I Want You So Bad” and “Wait For An Answer” of “BAD ANIMALS” are rare songs only for this tour, and “Nothin’At All” and Little Richard’s cover “Keep A Knockin'” Is also a valuable number unique to this period.
And the gorgeous ensemble that plays such a set is wonderful. Denny Carmassi & Mark Andes’s rhythm section that powerfully kicks up the five organs and beats the six swords on the thick and glittering guitar wall. The 70’s numbers have been revived metallically, and the “HEART” and “BAD ANIMALS” numbers have no sense of nostalgia, and the momentum is amazing because they are in the middle of a big hit. And, instead of being buried in such a backing, Ann Wilson’s climax vocalization … You can enjoy a majestic full show that only those who have been exposed to the wind of great success can ring.

The performance in Japan in 1988, which was in the middle of the glorious Capitol era and was at the height of its popularity. It is a masterpiece of a live album where you can fully experience the scene with the best sound that you think it is an FM sound board. Press 2CD that permanently preserves the “era of brilliance”. That fragrance that was floating in Yoyogi Stadium. Please inhale to your heart’s content with this work.

BAD ANIMALS IN TOKYO

DREAMBOAT ANNIE:Dreamboat Annie/Crazy On You/Magic Man
・LITTLE QUEEN:Barracuda(★)/Love Alive(★)
・DOG & BUTTERFLY:Straight On
・BEBE LE STRANGE:Even It Up
・PASSIONWORKS:How Can I Refuse?(★)
Keep A Knockin’/Rock And Roll
HEART:The Wolf/Nothin’ At All/What About Love/These Dreams/Never/If Looks Could Kill(★)
・BAD ANIMALS:Bad Animals/I Want You So Bad/Wait For An Answer/Who Will You Run To(★)/Alone
※注:「★」印は『ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE!』

特に『BAD ANIMALS』の「Bad Animals」「I Want You So Bad」「Wait For An Answer」はこのツアーだけのレア曲ですし、「Nothin’ At All」やリトル・リチャードのカバー「Keep A Knockin’」もこの時期ならではの貴重なナンバーです。

The main press 2CD is a new masterpiece that conveys the performance in Japan in 1988, which was in the middle of a big hit. As I mentioned in the commentary, when it comes to “Yoyogi in 1988,” the masterpiece “BAD ANIMALS IN TOKYO” from another show has been loved. Therefore, to celebrate the birth of the new masterpiece, the traditional masterpiece will also come with a reprint bonus.
The performance of “April 1, 1988: Yoyogi National Gymnasium” is included in this work. As stated in the main commentary schedule, this is a full audience recording of the concert of the same venue and the day before of “TOKYO 1988 2nd Night”. The quality is truly “excellent”. To be honest, it’s as amazing as the main press 2CD. The thick and thick core is infinitely powerful, and the minimal sound of the hall is clear to the details of the performance and the breath of Anne. The Yoyogi Olympic Pool is by no means a venue for recording, but it is incredibly clear and direct. It is a superb recording that does not feel strange even if you listen to it as a sister work to the main press 2CD.
Even before the release, it was a great recording that you could hear the voice saying “If it sounds so great, please make it a 4-disc press together with the main part …”, but there is a reason why it did not happen. .. Actually, it has been permanently saved as part of this recording, “LIVE TRILOGY (Zodiac 284)”. “LIVE TRILOGY” is a 6-disc set of the golden age, which is a set of three performances in Japan during the Capitol era (1986, 1988, 1990) in the same recorder collection. This work is the same recording as the 1988 edition, so it was not a set press again. However! Please note that this work is not just one performance extracted from “LIVE TRILOGY”. Even though the recording itself is the same, the mastering process and the mastering of the finish are significantly different, and you will not notice the same recording unless you compare them microscopically. Even if you have “LIVE TRILOGY”, it is a live album that you can enjoy the famous performance with a new feeling.

The performance in 1988, which was full of the glory of a big hit and struck the dynamism of HR. It is a luxurious set where you can experience the whole Yoyogi 2DAYS. The new masterpiece press 2CD (2nd day) and this press-class sound (first day). Don’t miss the chance to collect the best recordings of both days at once!
