数々の名作プロショットを生み出し、ロック界の目となっている“ROCK IN RIO 7”。当店でもAEROSMITH、BON JOVI、DEF LEPPARD、ALICE COOPERの各タイトルが大好評を賜っており、今週は更にTHE WHO、RED HOT CHILI PEPPERSも登場します。しかし、何と言っても最大・最強の衝撃作と言えば、GUNS ‘N ROSESをおいて他にない。何しろ、アクセル／スラッシュ／ダフのフロントラインが復活して初めてのマルチカメラのフル・プロショット。これまで幾多のライヴアルバム／映像をご紹介してきましたが、そのすべてを凌駕する究極の１本なのです。
それだけに最速ギフト盤でもお届けしたわけですが、本作はそのプレス版……ではあ・り・ま・せ・ん。ギフト盤は最速を目指して一番最初に届いたマスターを使用したわけですが、今回は現存するマスターを逐一精査。さらに放送時の欠点も補正し、ボーナスまで追加。すべてに万全を期した永久保存に相応しい究極バージョンなのです。
まず何より、クオリティが段違い。DVD２枚組の容量増加もありますが、それ以上にマスター鮮度がバツグン。ギフト盤もオフィシャル級ではありましたが、さすがに約３時間半のショウを１DVDに押し込んだためにデータ圧縮もあった。言わば「オフィシャル“発掘”級」でした。それに対し、本作は間違いなく「オフィシャル“名作級”」の超・鮮明画質＆音質なのです。さらに、本放送で起こってしまった“欠点”も修正。それは「Mr. Brownstone」の冒頭。一瞬ではあるものの、音が途切れて無音になってしまったのです。本作では、その部分も当日の超極上録音で補正。一瞬ではあっても全力のマスタリングで本編サウンドボード音声に限界まで近づけ、言われても気づかないくらい自然に仕上げました。
そんな究極クオリティで永久保存された再編GUNS ‘N ROSESの凄まじい事……。完全オフィシャル級の映像美で、主役“アクセル／スラッシュ／ダフ”の３人をフィーチュアしたカメラワークも素晴らしい。“ココが見たい！”をマルチカメラで押さえきり、超・極上サウンドボードが脳ミソ直結で飛び込んでくる。
ショウはおおよそ日本公演に準じる構成で、脳内にくすぶる記憶と見事にシンクロしていくわけですが、決してそれだけでもない。日本最大だった最終日よりもさらに豪華で、日本では観られなかったカバーが３曲もセットイン。AC/DCの「Whole Lotta Rosie」、クリス・コーネルに捧げられた「Black Hole Sun」、そしてグレン・キャンベルの「Wichita Lineman」。特に「Wichita Lineman」は激レアで、これまで10回も演奏されたことがない。それをオフィシャル級クオリティで観られるわけです。もっとも、そんなレア度なんか忘れるほど、ショウそのものが強烈無比なのですが……。

まさに、“NOT IN THIS LIFETIME（生きてるうちはあり得ない）”。でも、もう大丈夫。これで永久です。順風満帆の彼らは、これからも世界を騒がせ続けてくれるでしょうが、万々が一どこかで空中分解してしまったとしても、公式作品を何一つ残さなかったとしても、本作がある。いつでも、いつまでも“2017年のGUNS ‘N ROSES”を最高級クオリティで体験できる。早くも朧気になっていた日本公演の記憶も鮮明にできるのです。世界一の“先が読めないバンド”を未来永劫、手元に残すチャンス。どうぞ、どなた様もお見逃しなく！
