もう、全曲で怪物ぶりを脳ミソに直接ねじ込んでくれるわけですが、絶好調の名演だらけでもミソが付くのがGUNS N’ ROSES。「Nightrain」と「You Could Be Mine」で、熱狂した南米の観客がステージに物を投げ込んでしまう。もちろん、これに黙っていないのがアクセルで、演奏を止めさせ、通訳を通しながら怒りをぶちまけるのです。ショウ中盤の「Nightrain」では「またやったら俺は帰るからな!」等と1分半ほど文句を言ったところで気を取り直し、続きを演奏。この「やり直しNightrain」が最高。中断前とは明らかにテンションが違い、ムカつきながら叫んでいるのが直結サウンドボードで脳ミソに飛び込んでくるのです。
ここはコレで収まるものの、さらに聞き物なのがドラムソロ明けの「You Could Be Mine」。再びやらかした南米の観客にまたアクセルが怒り、また説教。今度も「You Could Be Mine」をやり直すも、それでも南米人は収まらなかったのか、歌い終わったところでアクセルがブチ切れてステージを去ってしまうのです。シンガーがいなくなったステージではスラッシュのギターソロやブルースジャムで場を繋ぎ、「また、このまま終わってしまうのか」……そんな空気が演奏から漂う。そんな緊迫ともあきらめとも付かない雰囲気を極上ステレオサウンドボードで味わえるのです。

演奏も歌も、そしてトラブルも。すべてが“怪物”らしかった1992年のGUNS N’ ROSES。その真骨頂を頂点超えの究極クオリティで脳ミソに住まわせる超・超・極上品です。徹底的にカッコ良く、究極的にデカくて、異様なほどにスリリングだった彼ら。その一大傑作。今週末、あなたのお手元にお届けいたします。
