1991年ジョージとクラプトンの来日公演が行なわれた。ジョージがツアーを行なうのは1974年以来17年ぶり。そして来日となるとビートルズ以来25年ぶりの事となる。世界で唯一、日本でジョージ・ハリスンのツアーが行なわれた事は、日本のファンにとってはとても喜ばしい事であり、世界中のファンが注目した稀有なものとなった。来日公演は全14公演。横浜を皮切りに大阪2公演、名古屋、広島、福岡、そして再び大阪3公演。そして最後は東京ドームで3公演という長大なものであった。当初横浜公演では緊張気味であったジョージも、日本の暖かい歓待と好意的な観客、そして何より久しぶりのステージを楽しんでいるかのように徐々に余裕をもたらし、ツアーは大成功裡に終えた。この後、世界的なツアーも検討されたが、クラプトンが息子を亡くしていたこともあり、結果的に日本でのみの貴重なツアーとなったのである。改めて日本のファンは幸福であった。

本作は、そのジョージの1991年来日公演から12月14日東京ドーム公演を収録している。ジョージの日本公演は既にMクローデル・レーベルより全公演がリリースされており、その全貌を知ることが出来る。しかし本作はそれらとは別に、高音質の初登場音源で収録している点において、別途コレクトしておくべきもののみならず、ジョージの日本公演でどれかベストのタイトルということになれば、前作『ONCE IN A LIFETIME』と、続編にあたる本作を選べばよいという仕上がりになっている。横浜を皮切りに全国を縦断したジョージのジャパン・ツアーにおいて、満を持して最終公演地となったのが東京ドーム3連続公演、その初日である。

本作の特筆すべき点は何と言ってもその音質にある。おそらくジョージの来日公演の全てのオーディエンス音源でベストのクオリティのひとつであることは疑いようがない。不完全ながら名古屋公演が素晴らしい音質で残されており来日公演中のベストとされていたが、本作はそれをも凌駕するまさに最高の音質である。本作は名古屋公演と同じくカセットテープがまだ主流であった時代に珍しいDATによる録音で、一聴してそのクオリティの素晴らしさに驚かされる。音質に恵まれない東京ドームにあって、クリアで広がりのある空間を感じさせるこの音質は実に素晴らしい。

周囲に大きな拍手をする人もおらず、非常に鮮明にここまで全体の演奏がバランス良く収録されている点は特筆に値する。また音全体が広いレンジで収録されている点にも注目である。DATならではの上下の広い音域を全てカバーしており、東京ドームでは奇蹟のような音質である。おそらくマニアは今までの数多くの来日公演のタイトルを所有しておられると思うが、前作同様、本作はその中でも特別光り輝くものになるであろう。

これほどの音質を誇りながら、残念ながら「Here Comes The Sun」のエンディングから「All Those Years Ago」の冒頭まで元テープにカットがある。この部分は別ソースで補完して完全収録となっている。この補完別ソースも音質的には悪くないのだが、こうして並べて聴くと、いかにメインとなっているソースの音質が従来のものと各段の差で優れているかがわかるというものだ。

世界で唯一行なわれたジョージの1991年来日公演より、12月14日東京ドーム公演を高音質の初登場音源にて完全収録。その音質の素晴らしさは、1991年来日公演音源の全体の中でベストのひとつであろう。これまでも多数のタイトルがリリースされているジョージの来日公演音源であるが、前作同様、それらを所有していてもなお、外すことが出来ないベストタイトルであると確信している。美しいピクチャー・ディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤。日本語帯付。
