Introducing the tape “Mike Millard Tape” recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans with the outstanding technology of audience recording. Several sound sources based on Mike Millard tape have been released from the same label, but if you look closely, there are two types, “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard Tape”. Did you notice that there is? Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it was almost perfect and there was not much room for improvement, and the “Legendary” series was limited to light editing such as between songs.
This item is a live recording from Genesis’ 1977 “Wind & Wuthering” tour and will be in the “Brushed” series. The volume of “Sconk” at the beginning of this master is not stable at all, and its adjustment has been considerably modified. In addition, the intervals between songs have been greatly edited because there were many conspicuous applause sounds and strange voices from nearby audiences. Through these careful editing, valuable sound sources have been refined as “items to appreciate” rather than just “historical materials”. In this live, the magnificent view of the world of the album “Silence Storm” following “Trick of the Tale” is reproduced. Tony Banks made an outstanding performance in “One for the Vine”, which has a lyrical atmosphere on the album jacket. The support drummer is Chester Thompson, who came from Frank Zappa’s Mothers via Weather Report.

オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープ『マイク・ミラード・テープ』登場です。同レーベルからマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされておりますが、よく見ると『ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ』と『レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ』の二種類があることにお気付きでしょうか。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが『ブラッシュド』シリーズ。元々完璧に近く改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集にとどめてあるものが『レジェンダリー』シリーズとなります。
本アイテムはジェネシスの1977年『静寂の嵐』ツアーからのライヴ録音で、『ブラッシュド』シリーズとなります。このマスターは冒頭の『スコンク』の音量が全く安定せず、その調整にかなり手が加えられています。更に近くの観客の目立つ拍手音や奇声が多く入っていたため曲間も大幅に編集されています。これら丁寧な編集により貴重な音源が、ただの“歴史的資料”ではなく“鑑賞するアイテム”として磨き出されたのです。このライヴでは『トリック・オブ・ザ・テイル』に続くアルバム『静寂の嵐』の壮大な世界観が再現されています。アルバム・ジャケットの叙情的な雰囲気の『ワン・フォー・ザ・ヴァイン』ではトニー・バンクス大活躍。サポート・ドラマーは、フランク・ザッパのマザーズからウェザー・リポートを経てやって来たチェスター・トンプソンです。
