Known as the only video of “FOXTROT Tour”, the big classic video of the Peter Gabriel era is a shocking upgrade. Introducing a transcendental professional shot that heralds a “new era of video archives.”

Although it is often expressed as “completely official class” as the maximum compliment, the beauty of this work is not that much. To be honest, I doubt if it’s really “Bataclan 73” … or if it’s a video from the 70’s. Not only Gabriel’s hair and make-up wrinkles, but also the pattern on the retina is clear. The lighting, equipment, musical instruments, performances, etc. of the venue were all in 1973, but only the resolution and visual beauty can be seen in 2021. Rather than being called “upgrade of Bataclan”, it is more appropriate to be told that “Mr. Sokkuri made a complete copy video at this moment”. For example, in QUEEN’s movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”, there was a reproduction scene of “LIVE AID”, but this work makes the original image high quality to the level of that reproduction scene … That is the dimension.
It’s completely beyond common sense, why is that happening? Apparently, it seems to be the power of “AI technology”. Recently, there was a title in which monochrome images were colored with AI, but this work has a different dimension. I’m doing noise reduction, upsampling (enlargement of size), and enhancement (addition of detail) of the image, and I heard that I tried about 25 different models. In addition, the usual manual tools add countless tasks such as cleaning up stains and dirt, removing scratches on the camera reel, adding NR / blending of sharpness and lighting, and so on.

Infinite passion is also poured into the voice of this work, and the overall composition has been re-edited. The overdubbed narration has been removed, and the interview that was inserted between the shows has been reorganized at the end. The part without audio is supplemented with the official live work “GENESIS LIVE”. The total length is also longer than 4 minutes (conventional about 33 minutes → about 38 minutes).
This area is easy to imagine for our customers who are familiar with music, but the workmanship is still beyond imagination. The original voice of “Barraclan 73” is also a tremendous upgrade, and switching to “GENESIS LIVE” is not the dimension of “no feeling of strangeness” but “I do not know at all”. In the first place, “GENESIS LIVE” is a different live, so I don’t understand why different live performances are so perfectly synchronized with the video.
Anyway, you can see “white-painted Gabriel” and “fox in red dress” with the visual beauty upgraded to the naked eye level. As many of you may know only from the big classics, this show was in 1973, but before “Knight of the Moon” was produced. よく最大限の賛辞として「完全オフィシャル級」と表現しますが、本作の美しさはそんなものじゃ済まない。正直言って、本当に「バタクラン73」なのか目を疑う……と言いますか、70年代の映像なのかと疑った。ガブリエルの髪の毛やメイク皺の１本１本どころか、網膜の模様までクッキリ。会場の照明や備品、楽器、演奏など、すべて1973年そのものなのに、解像度と映像美だけが2021年にしか見えない。「バタクランのアップグレード」と言われるよりも「今この瞬間にソックリさんが完コピ映像を作った」と言われた方がしっくり来る。例えばQUEENの映画『ボヘミアン・ラプソディ』で“LIVE AID”の再現シーンがありましたが、本作はオリジナル映像をあの再現シーンのレベルまで高画質にしている……そんな次元なのです。
完全に常識を（飛び）越えているわけですが、なぜそんな事が実現しているのか？　どうやら「AI技術」の威力のようです。昨今、AIでモノクロ映像に色を付けたタイトルもありましたが、本作は次元が違う。画像のノイズリダクション、アップサンプリング（サイズの拡大）、エンハンスメント（ディテールの追加）を行っているのですが、約25種類の異なるモデルを試したそう。さらに通常のマニュアル・ツールでシミや汚れのクリーンアップ、カメラリールの傷の除去、シャープネスや照明のNR/ブレンドの追加……等々、数え切れない作業が加えられているのです。

【音声や構成にも徹底的こだわった最新技術の芸術作品】
ここまでで「？」となっている方も多いと思いますが、まだまだ映像の話だけ。本作はさらに音声にも無限の情熱が注ぎ込まれ、全体の構成も再編集されている。オーバーダブされていたナレーションが取り除かれ、ライヴの合間に挿入されていたインタビューも最後にまとめ直し。音声のないパートは公式ライヴ作『GENESIS LIVE』で補填。トータルの長さも４分以上（従来の約33分→約38分）長くなっています。
この辺は音楽に詳しい当店のお客様ならイメージしやすいと思いますが、その出来映えはやはり想像以上。「バラクラン73」の元音声も凄まじいアップグレードですし、『GENESIS LIVE』との切り替えも「異泡感がない」という次元ではなく「まったく分からない」。そもそも『GENESIS LIVE』は別ライヴなわけで、なぜ異なる生演奏がこうまで映像にピタッとシンクロしているのか……ワケが分かりません。
ともあれ、そうして肉眼レベルにアップグレードされた映像美で「白塗りガブリエル」や「赤ドレスのキツネ」が観られるのです。大定番だけにご存知の方も多いでしょうが、このショウは1973年とは言っても『月影の騎士』が制作される前。その辺の時系列もイメージできるよう、当時のスケジュールも記しておきましょう。
