THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY TOUR 1974-1975 “. It is also famous for having produced a number of full sound boards, but one that is too special is one of the best quality reprints.
That “special sound board” was recorded was “Liverpool performance on 19th April 1975”. There was an excavation rush of the full sound board of this tour about 10 years ago, but also in our shop released as “THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON EMPIRE”. Among many sound boards, it is a famous recording which became popular especially as “British Broadway” · “the most evolved dazzling sound board”, sold out in the blink of an hour · waste out of print. Before introducing what is special about this show, let’s first organize the full scale sound board.

【The only home country full sound board】
Over, seven. There are other sound boards, but it is only partial. This is the only thing that can listen to the story work “Broadway of Dazzle” almost completely. As you can see, most are North American tours, the only one of which is the sound board of the home country British performance. This is the meaning of “British Broadway” mentioned earlier.
Of course, attention is not made only by UK performances. It was that sound that was truly special. Although all of the above seven are excellent sound boards, most of them are those that can see some kind of tape deterioration and noise. Among them, Liverpool performance boasts a glittering sound that can not be interrupted all the time, and a vivid stereo feel is also official. Along with the Lakeland performance, it was an unusual quality competing for the peak attack.
This work revived its excavation master with the latest and meticulous remastering. Of course, I am not doing an unnecessary money like raise the sound pressure uncannily. It keeps the vividness that the original sound board had, and organizes the rising and ringing of the sound. I realized a direct feeling which made it even clearer. While the previous “THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON EMPIRE” had a “historical sensation” that was excavated, this work is finished in a sound more like an official “work feeling”.

【Performance that will be a reach point of “5 GENESIS”】
It seems to be perfect for anything, but unfortunately it is not so. Just like in the previous work, there is a slight cut at the beginning of “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” “Anyway”, and even in this work it is super 1 high 25 minutes at the beginning of “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” It complements with a sound quality audience.
Because of this disadvantage, the vertex work is “DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1975 (Virtuoso 363/364)”, but this work also exceeds that Lakeland performance. That is the essence of the live itself. GENESIS in the era of Peter Gabriel is also known as a growing period in which performance has improved with one album and one tour, but this work is also the last full sound board of that one is.
Among the above 7, I think that only this work will pass through and it will be understood that it is a late recording, but its growth is clear. “DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1975” was similar to the officialized Los Angeles performance in two weeks, but this work also performed more than 40 live shows from then, the sharp performance played through the whole story. Phil Collins of “In The Cage” listens to the supernatural bass dora, Peter also participates in the performance “Lilywhite Lilith” also arrange to arrange forget the studio version. 英国ロック史上に残る一大物語ツアー“THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY TOUR 1974-1975”。数々のフル・サウンドボードを生み出した事でも有名ですが、その中でも特別すぎる１本が最高峰クオリティで復刻です。
その“特別なサウンドボード”が記録されたのは「1975年４月19日リヴァプール公演」。10年ほど前にこのツアーのフル・サウンドボードの発掘ラッシュがありましたが、当店でも『THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON EMPIRE』としてリリース。幾多のサウンドボードの中でも“英国のブロードウェイ”・“最も進化した眩惑サウンドボード”として格別の人気を博し、瞬く間に完売・廃盤となった名録音なのです。このショウの何が特別かをご紹介する前に、まずはフルスケールのサウンドボードを今一度整理しておきましょう。

【唯一の本国フル・サウンドボード】
以上、７本。この他にもサウンドボードはありますが、それは部分的なものばかり。物語作『眩惑のブロードウェイ』をほぼフルに聴けるのはこれだけです。これをご覧の通り、ほとんどが北米ツアーであり、その中で唯一本作だけが本国イギリス公演のサウンドボード。これが先述した“英国のブロードウェイ”の意味なのです。
もちろん、イギリス公演なだけでは注目はされない。真に特別だったのは、そのサウンド。上記７本はいずれも素晴らしいサウンドボードではあるものの、何らかしらのテープ劣化やノイズが見られるものがほとんど。その中でリヴァプール公演は終始途切れない艶やかなサウンドを誇り、鮮やかなステレオ感もオフィシャル級。レイクランド公演と共に、頂点作を競う異常なクオリティだったのです。
本作は、その発掘マスターを最新・細心リマスタリングで甦らせたもの。もちろん、無闇やたらに音圧を上げるような無粋なマネはしていません。元々のサウンドボードが持っていた鮮やかさはそのままに、音の立ち上がりと鳴りを整理。より一層クッキリとしたダイレクト感を実現しました。以前の『THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON EMPIRE』が発掘物然とした“歴史感覚”があったのに対し、本作はよりオフィシャルっぽい“作品感覚”のサウンドに仕上がっています。

【“５人GENESIS”の到達点となる名演】
何から何まで完璧なようですが、残念ながらそうではありません。従来作と同じように「The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway」「Anyway」の冒頭にわずかなカットがあることは変わらず、本作でも「The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway」冒頭１分25秒ほどを超高音質オーディエンスで補完しています。
この欠点があるため、頂点作は『DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1975（Virtuoso 363/364）』となってしまうのですが、本作はそのレイクランド公演を超えるものもある。それは、肝心要のライヴそのもの。ピーター・ガブリエル時代のGENESISは、アルバム１枚１枚、ツアー１本１本で演奏力が向上していった成長期としても知られますが、本作はその最後のフル・サウンドボードでもあるのです。
上記した７本の中でも本作だけが突き抜けて後期の録音なのがご理解いただけると思いますが、その成長度は明らか。『DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1975』はオフィシャル化されたロサンゼルス公演と２週間違いで演奏も似ていましたが、本作はそれからライヴを40本以上もこなしており、切れ味鋭い演奏が全編を貫く。「In The Cage」のフィル・コリンズは神業級のバスドラを聴かせ、ピーターも演奏に参加する「Lilywhite Lilith」もスタジオ版を忘れさせるアレンジが見事。そして、オリジナルのＤ面にあたるハイライトでは、他では聴けない鬼気迫る圧倒的な演奏が繰り広げられるのです。
これだけの一足飛びに成長したのは、恐らくアルバムをフル再現するツアーだったからでしょう。当時のメンバーは毎晩、同じ曲を同じ曲順で演奏し続ける事にウンザリしていたようですが、だからこそ徹底的に磨き上げられ、鍛えられた。本人たちがどれだけ自覚的だったかは分かりませんが、まるで虎の穴で修行したような完成されたアンサンブル。これが“最も進化した眩惑サウンドボード”の意味なのです。

現代は『眩惑のブロードウェイ』を７種もの生演奏で味わえる時代です。何とも贅沢ですが、その中でも圧倒的に“特別な１回”なのが本作。最も完成され、美しい『眩惑のブロードウェイ』であり、“５人時代GENESIS”の最終到達点でもある。単に優れたサウンドボードという次元を遙かに超えた名作を、現代テクノロジーで磨き上げた珠玉の１本。この素晴らしきプログレッシヴ・ロックの極地、どうぞ存分にお楽しみください。
