The reunion tour “THE LAST DOMINO? Tour” has finally started for the first time in 14 years. Introducing the best video that gives you a panoramic view of the super spectacle show.
This work was filmed at “September 20, 2021 Birmingham Performance”. It is the superb view audience shot. It is said that GENESIS will end with this tour, but the itinerary is only for the UK, US and Canada. It’s also the first report, so let’s start with the big picture of the tour.

This is the whole picture of the last GENESIS tour. Currently, I am in the middle of circuiting my home country England, which is the beginning of the circuit, but among them, the balming of this work is the best of Lee. It was a genuine first day concert.
GENESIS is the only 5 major bands in which all the members of the Golden Age are still alive, and since it is a reunion, the prog rockers all over the world are paying attention. Many records have been released at this moment as well, but this work is a video that is talking about with tremendous quality among them. It was taken from the right side of the stage (Mike Rutherford side), but probably because it is the front row of the stand seats, the height of the line of sight is almost the same as the members on the stage, and there are no obstacles. It’s a superb view that you can see from one end of the screen to the other.
On the other hand, because it is a stand seat, there is a distance … I think that the sense of distance is offset at once, which is a zoom that shows the power of the latest equipment. This is already very high quality and beautiful. If you pull it all the way out, you can see the whole stage, but even if the bust-up of the members fills the screen, it’s super clear. It feels like you can shake hands when you reach out. Come to think of it, the latest audience shots haven’t stopped for the first time in a while due to the influence of the new Corona Pandemic, but the evolution of the equipment has not stopped during that time. The visual beauty of this work is proof of that. It’s a beautiful image that is astonishing at the technological innovation that has evolved like Taro Urashima.
What is drawn in such an ultra-clear image is a full show that is the final form of GENESIS that summarizes the history of glory. 14 years ago, “TURN IT ON AGAIN Tour” had no new songs, but this time it’s a similar and different set. Let’s organize by comparing here.

… And it looks like this. It’s a gorgeous Greatest Hits, but the performance and the scene that spell it out are gorgeous. Support is provided by familiar Darryl Stummer and Phil’s son Nick Collins. Phil, who suffers from his legs, sings while sitting, but the latest giant screen and light system make up for it. GENESIS has evolved rockshow with the latest system in the 70’s and 80’s, but its spirit is still alive. A CG movie like a Hollywood blockbuster appears one after another on a huge screen like a building, and a domino-type light system hooked on the tour title moves around. This spectacle is really amazing. Whether it’s an image video or a member’s screen video, it’s big, beautiful, and flashy. Originally, the fact that the members were not a band that rampaged in action was also successful, and even if Phil was sitting down, he was flooded with light without any problems.
The world music world is trying to recover from the new Corona Pandemic. It is a video work that stands at the forefront and shows “the awesomeness of 2021”. If the technology of GENESIS is also strong, the evolution of the audience equipment that shot it is not a hump. そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2021年９月20日バーミンガム公演」。その超絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。今回のツアーをもってGENESISは終了するとも言われていますが、その旅程は英国・米国・カナダの３ヵ国のみ。第一報でもありますので、まずはツアーの全体像から始めましょう。

これがGENESIS最後となるツアーの全体像。現在、冒頭を飾る母国イギリスをサーキットしている真っ最中ですが、その中でも本作のバーミングはイの一番。正真正銘の初日コンサートでした。
５大バンドで黄金時代のメンバーが全員存命なのはGENESISだけであり、その再結ですから全世界のプログレ者が注目。今この瞬間も数々の記録が公開されているわけですが、本作はその中でも凄まじいクオリティで話題と鳴っている映像。ステージ右側（マイク・ラザフォード側）から撮影されているのですが、スタンド席の最前列なのか、ステージ上のメンバーとほぼ同じ目線の高さで遮蔽物もゼロ。画面の端から端まで見放題の超絶景なのです。
その一方で、スタンド席なので距離がある……かと思いきや、その距離感を一気に相殺してしまうのが最新機材の威力を見せつけるようなズーム。これがもう、凄まじく高画質で綺麗。思いっきり引くとステージが丸ごと一望できる距離なのですが、メンバーのバストアップが画面いっぱいになっても超鮮明。手を伸ばしたら握手できそうな間近感なのです。考えてみれば新型コロナ・パンデミックの影響で最新オーディエンス・ショットも久しぶりなわけですが、その間も機材の進化は止まってはいなかった。本作の映像美は、その証拠。まるで浦島太郎のように一足飛びに進化した技術革新にド肝を抜かれる美麗映像なのです。
そんな超・鮮明映像で描かれるのは、栄光の歴史を総括したGENESISの最終形ともなるフルショウ。14年前の“TURN IT ON AGAIN Tour”も新曲なしだったわけですが、今回は似て非なるセット。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。まさに豪華絢爛のグレイテスト・ヒッツですが、それを綴る演奏も光景も豪奢。サポートを務めているのはお馴染みダリル・スチューマーとフィルの息子ニック・コリンズ。脚を患っているフィルは座ったままで歌うのですが、それを補って余りあるのが最新の超巨大スクリーンとライト・システム。70年代／80年代も最先端のシステムでロックショウを進化させてきたGENESISですが、そのスピリットは健在。ビルディングのように巨大なスクリーンにハリウッド大作のように凝ったCGムービーが次々と浮かび、ツアー・タイトルに引っかけたドミノ型のライト・システムが動きまくるのです。このスペクタクルが本当に凄い。イメージ映像にしてもメンバーのスクリーン映像にしても、とにかくデカい・美麗・ド派手。元々、メンバーがアクションで暴れるバンドではなかった事も奏功し、フィルが座ったままでもまったく問題なく光の洪水を浴びまくれるのです。
