Gary Moore’s legendary first visit to Japan that has an unforgettable impact. The world’s first public Kinney Master to convey the scene is a new discovery.
吹 き What was blown into the new excavation master was “January 24, 1983: Tokyo Health and Welfare Pension Hall”. It is an excellent audience recording that records the whole picture. His first visit to Japan was a shock that burned into the mind of playing guitar all over the country, and we have archived many live albums at our shop. The official work is also a live work “ROCKIN ‘EVERY NIGHT”, so let’s first organize the collection by schedule.

More than 9 performances. The official “ROCKIN ‘EVERY NIGHT” was produced from the Tokyo Employees’ Pension Pension 2 Performance, but this show is one of them. It was the second day of my first concert in Japan. Speaking of the record of this show, “HEAVY KNUCKLES (part of)” is known, but this work is a completely different recording. It is also a new excavation master of super-superior quality that does not matter for existing groups.
Actually, the sound of this work is exquisite Kinney Magic. Best of all, the on and super detailed guitar. Overall, it’s like an audience that breathes in the air, but it’s very direct without a sense of distance for guitars only. If you listen microscopically with headphones, it seems that there is a hole in the guitar, but it is a level that you will not feel unless you search for it. Each grain of machine gun picking is clear, and the screaming choking is also transmitted to the finger up. Honestly, it’s a balance that I want to call a “guitar album”, but it’s still strange because it’s not unnatural. After all, it is the effect of the hall noise mentioned earlier. Even if you don’t feel it consciously, you can unconsciously harmonize the ensemble with the guitar, giving a total sense of realism and realism.
I just talked about guitar, but other instruments are also very clear. Certainly, it is not as close as the guitar, but the air is clear and you can taste both the rhythm squad and the keyboard. Especially the base is amazing. Despite the lower volume than the guitar, the outline of Neil Murray is very sharp, and the singing lines and the rich groove are perfect. You can enjoy the awesomeness of the ensemble, dubbed “COLOSSEUM III”, to every corner.
The scene that is drawn with such a sound is the first visit to Japan that has not faded even after more than 35 years. As mentioned earlier, there is a traditional official work “ROCKIN ‘EVERY NIGHT”, but this work is a full recording that you can enjoy plenty of repertoire that you can not listen to there. In “ROCKIN ‘EVERY NIGHT”, only three songs stopped, but in this work you can listen to all songs except “Falling in Love with You”. Especially “Always Gonna Love You” and “Gonna ‘Break My Heart Again” are delicious only for the repertoire that was only performed on this tour. Speaking of first visit to Japan, the biggest listening point is “Hurricane”! A fierce session by the dream team Gary / Murley / Don Ailey / Ian Pais. It is a song that is too special for Japanese who could not experience Gary during the fusion era, and it is a special performance that specializes in coming to Japan for the first time. You can enjoy it with vivid Kinney magic sound.

き This work closes the curtain, crying at the “Sunset” dedicated to the late Randy Rose. Since then, I have visited Japan many times since I met my allied friend Neil Carter. With the best rock stars in the UK, the ensemble of guitar crazy and ho is too great. 以上、全9公演。公式『ROCKIN’ EVERY NIGHT』は東京厚生年金会館2公演から製作されましたが、本作のショウはその片方。初来日の2日目となるコンサートでした。このショウの記録と言えば『HEAVY KNUCKLES(の一部)』が知られておりますが、本作はまったくの別録音。それも、既発群など問題にならない超極上クオリティの新発掘マスターなのです。
ギターの話ばかりになってしまいましたが、他の楽器も非常にクリア。確かにギターほどド密着ではないものの、空気感が透き通っており、リズム隊もキーボードも克明に味わえる。特にベースは驚異的。ギターに比べて音量は小さいにも関わらず、ニール・マーレイの輪郭がえらく切り立っており、歌いまくるラインも芳醇なグルーヴもバッチリ。“COLOSSEUM III”の異名を取ったアンサンブルの凄みが隅々まで楽しめるのです。
そんなサウンドで描かれるのは、35年以上経っても色あせることのない初来日の現場。先述の通り、伝統の公式作『ROCKIN’ EVERY NIGHT』が残されてはいますが、本作はそこでは聴けないレパートリーもたっぷり楽しめるフル収録。ここで、そ内容を整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。セットの軸は大名盤『CORRIDORS OF POWER』。『ROCKIN’ EVERY NIGHT』では3曲止まりだったわけですが、本作では「Falling in Love with You」以外の全曲が聴ける。特に「Always Gonna Love You」「Gonna’ Break My Heart Again」はこのツアーでしか演奏していなかったレパートリーだけに美味しい。そして、初来日と言えば最大の聴きどころは「Hurricane」! ゲイリー/マーレイ/ドン・エイリー/イアン・ペイスというドリーム・チームによる苛烈なるセッション。フュージョン時代のゲイリーを本生体験できなかった日本人にとっては特別すぎる1曲であり、初来日を特別にしている大熱演。それを鮮やかなキニーのマジック・サウンドでたっぷりと楽しめるのです。
