The first visit to Japan of the original FREE legend realized just before the collapse. A precious live album that allows you to experience the miracle scene is a gift release decision.
“The 1st May 1971: Sankei Hall performance” is recorded in this work. This is a vintage audience recording. The other day, we introduced our first visit to Japan “KANDA KYORITSU KODO 1971”, but it was the first day performance, and this is the second day. Their first visit to Japan was two performances, but this day was also the night of the incident. It was a performance at “Rock Carnival # 4″, but time went on and their turn came at 3:30 in the middle of the night. Furthermore, there was a problem with the crew who rushed to set up the band after that, and the third encore did not produce the sound of the guitar.
This is a masterpiece that exceeds “KANDA KYORITSU KODO 1971”. This is both length and sound. First of all, this is amazing. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been recorded until the stage is rampant, but instead (?) The recording started before the start buzzer, and the legendary MC by Mr. Goro Ito is also recorded. The stage where the recording time was severely limited in the tape era, and it was delayed. Nonetheless, there is nothing but a miracle that was recorded before the buzzer. And the legend MC is amazing. It’s too terrible, so let’s write a little.

«Feeling of a fierce time that cannot be expressed anymore. It is a legend. Moreover, all the songs actually played after that are recorded. The dimension is different from “KANDA KYORITSU KODO 1971”, which was not recorded in the final stage. And the sound is great. I think that you can guess from the fact that the legendary MC can be heard beautifully, but it is very clear. Of course, although it is a vintage sound that cannot be told by modern standards, the atmosphere is clear, and both performance and singing voice are brought to the front. It’s a miracle scene that can only be heard, but it’s a great sound that you can’t afford.

崩壊間際に実現したオリジナルFREE伝説の初来日。その奇跡の現場を体験できる貴重なライヴアルバムがギフト・リリース決定です。
そんな本作に記録されているのは「1971年５月１日：サンケイホール公演」。そのヴィンテージ・オーディエンス録音です。先日も初来日アルバム『KANDA KYORITSU KODO 1971』をご紹介しましたが、そちらは初日公演で、本作は２日目。彼らの初来日は全２公演でしたが、この日は事件の夜でもありました。“ロックカーニバル#4”での出演だったのですが、時間が押しまくり、彼らの出番が来たのは深夜の３時半。さらにはその後の出演バンドのセッティングを急ぐクルーともトラブルが起き、３度目のアンコールでギターの音が出ず、スピーカーを壊して暴れる……という惨事になったのです。
まさに伝説以外の何物でもないショウを記録した本作は『KANDA KYORITSU KODO 1971』を超える傑作でもある。これは長さとサウンドの両面。まずは長さですが、これが凄い。残念ながらステージで暴れる様子までは収録されていませんが、その代わり（？）冒頭が開演ブザーの前から録音が始まり、糸○五郎氏による伝説のMCも記録されているのです。録音時間の制約がシビアなテープ時代であり、しかも遅れに遅れまくっていたステージ。それにも関わらずブザー前から録音されているのは奇跡という他ありません。そして、その伝説MCが凄い。あまりに凄すぎるので、ちょっと書き出してみましょう。

もう、何とも表現のできない猛烈な時代感。まさに伝説です。しかも、その後も実際に演奏された曲はすべて収録されています。終盤が未収録だった『KANDA KYORITSU KODO 1971』とは次元が違うのです。そして、サウンドも素晴らしい。伝説MCが綺麗に聴き取れる事からもお察しいただけると思いますが、猛烈にクリア。もちろん、現代基準では語れないヴィンテージ・サウンドではあるものの、その空気感は透き通っており、演奏も歌声も目の前に突きつけられる。聴けるだけでありがたい奇跡の現場なのですが、それどころでは済まない素晴らしいサウンドなのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウは、もちろんオリジナルFREEの名曲ラッシュ。その内容も整理しておきましょう。
