Live sound source by Frank Zappa and Mothers. It is a sound board sound source excavated in recent years at the same live in 1973 as the official famous live board “Roxy and Elswear”. However, even though it was a sound board sound source, the master was extremely treble and hiss noise was quite noticeable. However, if you polish it, it will shine, and if you master it carefully to balance it, the sound quality will be official. Furthermore, since it was an unfortunate recording time to make a two-disc set of 81 minutes, only the instrument tuning part between the songs was cut and joined so as not to be unnatural, and edited so that it fits in one piece. Zappa’s speech is not cut. By the way, it is by the master that the last “Dupre’s Paradise” fades out.
George Duke was enrolled in Mothers around this time, and it was the most popular time for jazz rock fans. Ralph Humphrey and Chester Thompson’s twin drums are also a must-listen. Chester Thompson later showed good support for twin drums with Phil Collins, and the second drum is a good one. You can enjoy skeletal jazz rock that starts with Zappa’s guest messing around and progresses solo to each part.
フランク・ザッパとマザーズによるライヴ音源。オフィシャルの名ライヴ盤『ロキシー・アンド・エルスウェア』と同じ1973年のライヴで近年発掘されたサウンドボード音源です。ただ、サウンドボード音源とは言ってもマスターは極端な高音過多でヒス・ノイズがかなり目立つかなりヒドイものでした。しかし磨けば光るとはまさにこの事、丁寧にバランスを整えるマスタリングすればオフィシャル級の音質になるのです。更に81分という二枚組にするには申し訳ない収録時間だったため、曲間の楽器チューニング部分のみカットし不自然の無いよう繋ぎあわせ、一枚に収まるよう編集してあります。ザッパのスピーチはカットしてありません。因みに最後の『デュプリーズ・パラダイス』がフェード・アウトなのはマスターによるもの。
この頃のマザーズはジョージ・デュークが在籍しておりジャズ・ロック・ファンには最も人気のあった時期。ラルフ・ハンフリーとチェスター・トンプソンのツイン・ドラムも必聴です。チェスター・トンプソンは後にフィル・コリンズとのツイン・ドラムでも好サポートを見せておりセカンド・ドラムはお手の物。ザッパの客いじりから始まって各パートにソロを振って進んでいく骨太ジャズ・ロックが楽しめます。
