The second performance in Japan, which was realized as the footsteps of the six-member formation collapsed. The best original recording that conveys the scene is now available on the permanent preservation press 2CD.
“January 27, 1980: Nippon Budokan” is included in this work. It is the finest audience recording that recorded the whole picture. Speaking of 1980, a huge tour that boasts the most performances in their history of coming to Japan has been realized. We also archived our masterpiece live album. In terms of organizing the collection, let’s look back at the schedule at the time.

Above, while going around the four cities of Tomei Osaka and Fukuoka in all 7 performances, the highlight was 3DAYS at Nippon Budokan. This work is a live album recorded on the last day.
Recorded at such a show, this work is an original master that was released by the recorder himself and is the world’s first public release. It doesn’t get confused with a sound board because the clapped clapping has a good old-fashioned “Western music boom” feeling, but the air is transparent and the core that penetrates in the middle has delicate details if it is vivid. The base of Rick Willis is especially amazing. Generally speaking, the 80’s audience has a low bass and tends to run extremely extreme, whether it is squash or explosive. However, this work has a crisp attack sound, and the line drawn in succession is also beautiful. It has a presence that is as good as a guitar, but it is neither vivid nor muddy. Of course, the base is just an example. The other parts are equally vivid, and despite the thick ensemble of 6 members, including Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood, they do not mix even if each note overlaps. It is a clear recording in which each instrument draws a line in a three-dimensional sense of space.
The sound is drawn in the full show, which is the total settlement of the 6-person era when the initial 3 pieces were concentrated and reduced. The live of this era is also the official edition “CLASSIC HITS LIVE / BEST OF LIVE”, so let’s compare and organize the set.

We also performed “I’ll Get Even With You”, which was not performed in the popular “NAGOYA 1980 (Uxbridge 843)”. It is a treasure trove of masterpieces summarizing the age of six people, and it is also a music piece that can be enjoyed in the flow assembled as one show.

６人編成崩壊の足音が忍び寄る中で実現した二度目の来日公演。その現場を伝える極上オリジナル録音が永久保存プレス２CDで登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「1980年１月27日：日本武道館」。その全貌を記録した極上オーディエンス録音です。1980年と言えば、彼らの来日史でも最多公演を誇る巨大ツアーが実現。当店でも傑作ライヴアルバムでアーカイヴして参りました。そのコレクションを整理する意味でも、まずは当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

以上、全７公演で東名阪＋福岡の４都市を巡りつつ、そのハイライトとなったのは日本武道館での３DAYS。本作は、その最終日で記録されたライヴアルバムなのです。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、録音家自身から譲られた全世界初公開のオリジナル・マスターで鮮やかさと瑞々しさが絶品。ビシッと揃った手拍子に古き良き“洋楽ブーム”感も漂うのでサウンドボードと間違えたりはしませんが、空気感がえらく透き通っており、その真ん中を突き抜けてくる芯もビビッドならディテールも繊細。特に驚きなのがリック・ウィリスのベース。普通、80年代オーディエンスと言えば低音が弱く、スカスカになるか爆音気味になるか両極端に走りがち。しかし、本作はビンビンとしたアタック音がクッキリとしており、それが連なって描かれるラインも美しい。ギターにも負けない存在感を醸しつつ、ビビッたり濁ったりもしないのです。もちろん、ベースはあくまでも一例。他パートも同じように鮮やかで、イアン・マクドナルドとアル・グリーンウッドも交えた６人編成のぶ厚いアンサンブルにも関わらず、１音１音が重なり合っても混じり合わない。立体的な空間感覚の中で楽器１つひとつがラインを描いていくクリア録音なのです。
