Only at its peak, Fleetwood Mac’s “TUSK” tour around the world from 1979 to 1980 is blessed with sound sources. On the contrary, the current situation is that the official release of sound sources has been realized in the last few years. However, it is also true that they were in a state of dissatisfaction. First of all, when the “TUSK” Deluxe Edition was released in 2015, it made enthusiasts crazy that there was a part that reproduced the tour of 1979-80 on two CDs, but they were tours. It was the best edit from multiple performances recorded in, and was not a complete reproduction of a single performance. In addition, it is undeniable that it was a mixing that made me feel unsatisfactory in terms of the presence of the live performance.
In that respect, the “LIVE” deluxe edition, which was just released this month, was originally a live album, so although it had a wonderful finish such as a sense of presence, this time it was in 1977 rather than the stage of each place according to the concept of the original album. It was edited from the recording from 1982 to 1982. In other words, this was not a complete reproduction of one performance of the “TUSK” tour. Ironically, the situation hasn’t diminished the value of the items released by UXBRIDGE so far.

First of all, “TUSK TOUR 1979-1980”, which should be called “LIVE” outtakes, was the day when the main St. Louis 79 was adopted in “LIVE”, but this is the same as the official in that you can listen to it in a rougher mix. I can’t despise it as a day. In addition to that, in the mobile performance, which is another recorded sound source, it could be said that it was a hidden masterpiece in that it was possible to hear the exceptionally wild “Oh Well” during the “TUSK” period. On the other hand, in the audience recording, the famous sound source “BOSTON TUSK” by Steve Hopkins has been released, and it reminded me that the excitement and hot performance of the climax that you can enjoy with the best audience is exceptional.
Rather, from the current state of the official, regarding the “TUSK” tour, further excavation of audience recordings was awaited in search of a sense of realism woven by the excitement unique to the climax, but Mike Millard, who should be said to be a true hit, is also on the same tour. It was revealed last week that he was recording. Moreover, he recorded the last day of the “TUSK” tour. In addition, it is no exaggeration to say that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in this area became the Chiakigaku Hollywood Bowl.
Speaking of the record of the Mac stage by Millard, the memory of the release of “LA FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES”, which is a best-selling record, is also new, but further recording of the Mac stage is recorded on the “TUSK” tour. What did you do with Chiaki Raku?

Speaking of “LA FORUM 1977”, it was impressive that Millard captured Lindsey Buckingham’s guitar with a considerably on sound image, but this time it is an even more on sound image by making use of the experience at that time. … Rather, Lindsey’s guitar is a sound board. Still, the whole band is captured with a good balance, which is amazing. At first glance, Fleetwood Mac seems to be a band (or music) that is different from Millard’s taste, but it seems that he would have been attracted to Lindsey’s hard-edged guitar. It’s easy to imagine that he was attracted to the “TUSK” tour, which evolved from the sophisticated sound of 1977 to the rock sound led by Lindsey, and it came to mind the recording that went to the Hollywood Bowl.
Anyway, it was so vivid that you could clearly hear each note of Lindsey’s guitar phrase, and this feeling was not felt by the official group in recent years. When it comes to a song like “Dreams,” I play it with a sweet tone and a slight restraint, but I can’t help but be fascinated by the vividness of the tone. Diva Stevie also sang enthusiastically with his exquisite play in the background. This is the stage of the climax Mac that captivated the world.
On the other hand, the audience who packed the Hollywood Bowl was very excited because it was at the height of its popularity, but it is also wonderful that it is captured in a balance that is not jarring. A masterpiece recording with a masterpiece balance of “on sound image” and “realism” unique to Mirrored. His outstanding work makes even the word “masterpiece” sound stale. And “BOSTON TUSK” was the record of the beginning of the tour in 1979, but this time it is the last day of the tour.
As I mentioned at the beginning, for the official world, which has had some problems but the release amount has been substantial, this records the stage in the United States along with “BOSTON TUSK” recorded by Steve Hopkins from the glorious “TUSK” tour. The two giants of the audience albums that have been released are now available. Moreover, this time it will be released on a limited press!
