1997 DIO who came to Japan for the first time in 10 years with Tracy G. A new excavation live album that conveys the scene is now available.
The performance of “May 10, 1997: Club Citta Kawasaki” is imbued with this work. It is a powerful audience recording. DIO at that time was not as popular as it was in its heyday, but on the other hand, it was a “once every 10 years” incident since “JAPAN AID 2” in 1987. It was a Japan tour that was filled with a strange and rich enthusiasm, with the core carefully selected fans who said, “No matter what happens, I will follow Ronnie!” Because of that, we have archived various live albums at our shop just for the rich Yui live. It’s a good opportunity, so let’s organize the collection from the schedule at that time.

Above, all 4 performances. I went around the clubs compactly in Higashi-Meihan, but in the Kanto area, I held two consecutive days at Club Citta Kawasaki. This work is an audience recording recorded on the first day. As a matter of fact, the three performances of “Osaka x 1 and Kawasaki x 2” were covered by the big set “MACHINE MESSIAH (Shades 447)”, and the first day of Kawasaki was also recorded. That recording was also a masterpiece, but this one is a different (and better!) Superb recording.
The sound is just “powerful”. Anyway, there is no sense of distance and it is in close contact. The “MACHINE MESSIAH” master also sounded like a closed room in the club, but this work is even closer and on. That’s the super direct sound that makes me think that Ronnie is standing next to me on the stage. Of course, the guitar and drums are extraordinarily thick, and the bass is so powerful that you can see the floor and walls of the site vibrating. You can even feel the vibe on the verge of chattering even more comfortably.
The full show that is excited by the return of legendary singer: Ronnie James Dio is drawn with such a powerful pleasure sound. The contents of the set are almost the same as “INFERNO: LAST IN LIVE”, but it is also a time when there are few opportunities to touch, so let’s organize it here.

The hidden masterpiece “Jesus Mary & the Holy Ghost”, also known as the “modern 21st Century Schizoid Man”, is delicious, but above all, the scene is heated by the gorgeous classics. I’ve repeated it for the first time in 10 years, but 10 years ago it was “JAPAN AID 2”, so there aren’t many people who have experienced it. Most fans are excited about the long-awaited delight since the “SACRED HEART Tour”. Of course, no matter how exciting it is, if it’s the thick sound of this work, the performance sound and vocals will suppress everything, so it’s hard to hear. However, you can enjoy it in a delicious balance where the heat burns the tension of Ronnie on the stage. Especially wonderful is “Mistreated” with “Catch the Rainbow”. Far from being the first in 10 years, the singing voice that consciousness finishes flying in space-time for about 20 years at a stretch until 1978 roars.
Tracy G is a lovable stubborn person who never bends his personality, and he is still in his style in Classics. Therefore, this work is not suitable for those who want to reproduce the past. We recommend DIO from the 2000s onwards. The essence of this work is not there, but the delight of “that Ronnie is back!” And it is a singing that responds wonderfully to it. A live album with ear sounds that you can meet again with Ronnie who will never come back. Please experience it to your heart’s content.

Starting with “Mis treated” and “Catch the Rainbow” for the first time since RAINBOW, this is an incredible live album where you can fully experience the scene of coming to Japan for the first time in 10 years.
トレイシー・Ｇを従え、10年ぶりの来日を果たした1997年のDIO。その現場を伝える新発掘ライヴアルバムが登場です。
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「1997年５月10日：クラブチッタ川崎」公演。その強力オーディエンス録音です。当時のDIOは全盛期ほどの人気ではありませんでしたが、その一方で来日自体が1987年の“JAPAN AID 2”以来という「10年に一度」の事件でもあった。「何があってもロニーに付いていく！」というコアな厳選ファンがクラブ規模にギュウ詰めになるという、異様で濃厚な熱気に包まれるジャパンツアーでした。それだけに濃ゆいライヴだけに、当店でも様々なライヴアルバムでアーカイヴ。良い機会ですので、当時の日程からそのコレクションも整理しておきましょう。

以上、全４公演。東名阪をクラブをコンパクトに巡ったわけですが、関東圏ではクラブチッタ川崎で２日連続公演を実施。本作はその初日で記録されたオーディエンス録音なのです。実のところ、「大阪×１・川崎×２」の３公演はビッグ・セット『MACHINE MESSIAH（Shades 447）』で網羅されており、川崎初日も収録されていました。あの録音も傑作でしたが、本作はそれとは異なる（そして上回る！）極上の別録音なのです。
そのサウンドは、まさに「強力」。とにかく距離感ゼロでド密着。『MACHINE MESSIAH』マスターもクラブの密室感サウンドでしたが、本作はさらに近くてオン。それこそ、ステージ上で隣にロニーが立っているんじゃないかと思うほどの超ダイレクト・サウンド。もちろんギターもドラムも異様に極太ですし、ベースに至っては現場の床や壁が振動しているのが分かるくらいのド迫力。ビビり寸前のヴァイヴがいっそ心地よくさえ感じられるのです。
そんなド迫力の快感サウンドで描かれるのは、伝説シンガー：ロニー・ジェイムズ・ディオの帰還に沸くフルショウ。セット内容は『INFERNO: LAST IN LIVE』とほぼ同一なのですが、触れる機会の少ない時期でもありますので、ここで整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。「現代版21世紀の精神異常者」とも呼ばれた隠れ名曲「Jesus Mary & the Holy Ghost」も美味しいですが、それより何より絢爛のクラシックス群に現場は沸きに沸く。先ほどから「10年ぶり」と繰り返してきましたが、その10年前も“JAPAN AID 2”ですから体験者は多くない。ほとんどのファンが“SACRED HEART Tour”以来という待ちに待った歓喜に沸いているのです。もちろん、どれだけ盛り上がろうと本作の極太サウンドなら演奏音とヴォーカルがすべてを制圧するので聴きづらさゼロ。ただひたすら、熱気がステージのロニーのテンションを焚きつける美味しいバランスで味わえるのです。特に素晴らしいのが「Catch the Rainbow」を交えた「Mistreated」。10年ぶりどころか、意識が1978年まで一気に20年ほど時空を飛び終える歌声が轟き渡るのです。
トレイシー・Ｇは自分の個性を決して曲げない愛すべき頑固者であり、クラシックスでも自分流を貫いています。ですから過去の再現を求める方に本作は向かない。2000年代以降のDIOをお勧めいたします。本作の真髄はそこではなく「あのロニーが還ってきた！」の歓喜。そして、それに見事に応えてくれる絶唱です。もう二度と戻ってきてはくれないロニーに、もう一度出逢える耳元サウンドのライヴアルバム。どうぞ、存分にご体験ください。
