1972年7月8日ロンドンはロイヤル・フェスティバル・ホール公演と、同年12月28日のマンチェスターはハード・ロック・クラブ公演をどちらも良好なオーディエンス録音で収録。両公演とも丁寧にリマスターし、幾多のノイズも除去してありますので、原音に比べ、格段に聴きやすくなっています。ロンドン公演は、当時のオーディエンス録音として、上位にランクされる良好なもので、しかもこの日は、ショウ後半3曲(White Light White Heat, Waiting For The Man, Sweet Jane)でルー･リードとの初競演が聴けるというということで、間違いなく、全てのファン必携のアイテムになっています。72年末に行われたマンチェスター公演は、ショウ冒頭でいつものS.E.(Ode To Joy)が流れず、ミック・ロンソンがメロディを奏でるという珍しいオープニングを聴く事ができます。ショウも当時のグラムロック・ムーブメントを象徴するような勢いに満ちた演奏を楽しむことができます。全てのボウイ･ファンにお薦めできるサウンドではありませんが、実は、非常にクリアーにショウを捉えており、中級以上のマニアは間違いなく大満足できる、最高のドキュメントになっています。

全盛期だったボウイの1972年のツアーから二つのライヴがパッケージされたアイテムが登場。ひとつは7月8日にロイヤル・フェスティバル・ホールで行われたもの。もうひとつは12月28日にマンチェスターで行われたものだが、まず最初のショウに焦点が当たる。初めてイギリスに登場していたルー・リードを早速ながらステージに迎えて共演した記念すべきライヴの模様が見事に捉えられており、既発のアイテムとは明らかに一線を画す音質のクリアーさの違いも瞭然で時代的な面も含めて、これ以上のソースはまず出てこないと思われる必聴アイテム。共演した3曲はボウイ・ヴァージョンとは大きく異なる歌の迫力にバックの面々が全く噛み合っていないという面白さも垣間見れるというところがユニークだ。完全にルー・リードの世界観で歌われているのは勿論、オリジナルだから当然だが。しかし、この頃のルー・リードはイギリスに於いてどれくらい知名度が高かったのか、かなり疑問ではあるのだが、歓声を聴いていても、それなりに盛り上がっているところが不思議。本アイテムの裏ジャケには、ルー・リードとスパイダーズが共演している写真が使われているのも貴重だ。そしてマンチェスターの方も既発と比べれば、かなり音質はアップしｔげいるが、流石に元テープの劣化による音のバラつきはやむを得ないところか。音そのものは割とクリアーなジェネレーションのソースではあるものの、録音状態そのものは、マニア向けと言わざるを得ない。しかし本公演はLet’s Spend The Night Togetherから始められる数少ない貴重なライヴをほぼ完全に収録しているのでレア度が高く、更に、冒頭のSEが上手く流れず、ミック・ロンソンがギターで奏でているというのも重要。時期的にもジギーからアラディン・セインに変わっている頃なので、ボウイの全盛期そのものと言った様子がしっかりと聴ける。勿論、スパイダーズのプレイもかなり熱いものとなっているので当然のごとく、ライヴとしてはかなり素晴らしい出来栄えだ。最初から最後まで一気にステージ感を味わいながら聴ける快作。
