このように、本作は２回の大阪ライヴでも初日公演を収めたライヴアルバムなのです。そのサウンドは、伝説になるのもうなずける素晴らしいもの。実際には伝承とは異なってオーディエンスらしい録音なのですが、ヴィンテージ感覚の暖かみに溢れつつも、ノイズや音割れもなく、芯の図太い楽音が美しく鳴る。拍手や歓声も吹き込まれてはいるものの、ボウイの歌声や楽音こそが主役を張っており、一瞬たりともその座を譲らないのです。そんなサウンドだからこそ、長年に渡ってファンの心を満たし得たのです。
もちろん、クリアさ、鮮度、透明感のいずれも「BUDOKAN 1978」に遠く及ばず、ショウ全体の半分にも満たない収録時間。現代基準では、とても決定盤と呼べはしません。しかし、これもまた貴重な大阪初日の記録。そして、その貴重さ以上に、長年の“本生のボウイに逢いたい”というファンの想いが染みついたサウンドに心温まる１枚なのです。
