David Bowie’s 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour is the latest addition to the tapered “Two Of Us” series, which continues to release the best-performing audience recordings of various artists in the United States from last year to the early 1980s. From the last day of the Philadelphia Spectrum.
As enthusiasts may remember, “Two Of Us” continues to release the spectrum performances of 1983, and UXBRIDGE also released “PHILADELPHIA 3RD NIGHT”, which has been well received. ..
The Serious Moonlight Tour, where Bowie reached the pinnacle of being an Eighties pop star, had a fairly hard schedule, and the Philadelphia Spectrum also had four consecutive nights of performances.
The previously released “PHILADELPHIA 3RD NIGHT” was an excellent audience recording with the appeal of Bowie’s voice being close to the balance, but this time it is a superb recording that makes you feel another attraction that is clear and conveys the power of the entire band. Immediately after the start of the live, the taper position was not settled, but the instability of the sound image was scattered, but from “Fashion” it was stable at a stretch (rather, it was more stable than the day before).
Speaking of continuous performances in Philadelphia, there is a continuous performance at the Tower Theater in 1974, which was the stage of the official “DAVID LIVE” (strictly speaking, it is not Philadelphia, but Upper Darby in the same Pennsylvania state. ) However, as it tells, Philadelphia is the first land in the United States where Bowie’s popularity exploded. Nevertheless, in 1976 and 1978, there were only two days of performances at Spectrum. Therefore, it is said that this time it was held four nights in a row with a large service.

What surprises me most is that Bowie is in great shape, which is hard to believe that this is the last day of four consecutive nights. The Serious Moonlight Tour itself seemed to have reached the next level from the US tour in July, and this day is also typical. The band listens to the rock-solid performance centered on Earl Slick’s guitar, and the power of the performance is in a realistic recording state, so the power of the lead guitar he plays.
Bowie’s tireless singing supported by such a reliable backing band is suitable for the finale of Philadelphia’s four nights in a row. “Two Of Us” recorded the stage, which cannot be called a masterpiece, with a natural and warm feeling, and a rich sense of presence with excellent sound quality.
The only thing that was missed was that, unlike the day before, there was a slight cut in each of the performance versions of “Fame” and the finale “Modern Love” (the latter seems to be caused by the dead battery). However, when it was released, it patched another sound source on the same day really beautifully. Since the sound source is different, we cannot deny the change in sound quality, but both are smooth and the rhythm is not choppy, and you can listen to it with confidence. Please enjoy the enthusiasm unique to the final day of Bowie’s continuous performances!
