「10年振りのハマースミス公演だ！」カルロス・アロマーのオープニングで聴ける通り、1973年6月の「Aladin Sane」UKツアーとなる10年振りのロンドン・ハマースミス・オデオン公演を、「TREMBLE LIKE A FLOWER」と同じ録音者のマスター・テープより、超高音質オーディエンス録音で完全収録。2006年に、TRIALレーベルより「UNDER THE MOONLIGHT」と言うタイトルでリリースされた名音源をリマスター収録。1983年、世界中で空前の大ヒットを記録した「LET’S DANCE」に伴うワールド･ツアーより、6月30日ロンドンはハマースミス･オデオン公演が超高音質・完全収録。信じられないほど素晴らしい音質で、この夜のボウイのショウを生々しく再現してくれます。この時期、ボウイの人気は、一般の音楽リスナーの間でも頂点を迎えており、同月上旬にはイギリス屋内会場としては最大規模のウェンブリー･アリーナで3日連続公演、また、そのたった一ヵ月後の7月1日から3日間、5万人の収容を可能にするイギリスの代表的野外スペース、ミルトン・キーンズ・ボウルで3日間連続公演を成功させています。この日は、ミルトン･キーンズ公演の前日にあたり、特別にチャリティ･コンサートとして企画されたもので、このツアーとしては珍しく中規模のコンサート会場で行われています。ホール会場らしい音の響きは格別で、ボウイを迎える、アットホームな雰囲気は素晴らしく、ミルトン・キーンズ・ボウルの前夜祭とも言えるポジティブなムードに満ち溢れた、最高のライブを堪能できます。ガッチリと定まった音の定位は素晴らしく、全体のクオリティも申し分ありません。ダイレクトなサウンドで収録されたウェンブリー音源とは対照的に、マイルドでナチュラル、そして高い完成度に満ちた、実にグレードの高い録音盤です。「TREMBLE LIKE A FLOWER」とは兄弟音源とも言える内容だけに、この素晴らしいセットで是非、お楽しみ下さい。

ボーナスディスクとして付けられたハマースミスオデオンでの10年ぶりのショウをかなり良好なソースで収録したCD-Rだが、先のウェンブリー公演を録音した人物が本公演も録音しており、やはり見事な収録と舌を巻く逸品。過去にも別タイトルでリリースされているが、今回のボウイ復活劇にあたり改めて装丁を変えてのリリース。先のウェンブリー公演とは異なりこちらは「Look Back In Anger」からスタートするセットなので、違った趣のショウとして聴けることも嬉しく、1983年の完パケショウをこのタイトル群にて両者とも楽しめるようになっているところはポイントが高い。せっかくハマースミスオデオンでやったのなら「Ziggy Stardust」でも歌ってくれればと思う部分もあるが、このサウンドでの「Ziggy」はやや興醒めになってしまっただろうか。いつ聴いてもトニー・トンプソンのパワフルだがシンプルなドラミングがこのサウンドの肝だと言うあたりを実感するものだが、天才児カルロス・アロマーとのチームワークが絶妙で思わず唸ってしまう瞬間も多々聴けるところが実は面白いプロのバックバンド。ロックの気を吐いているのはやはりアール・スリックだけだが、多勢に無勢と無難なプレイヤーとして演奏しているのだろうか。つくづくスティーヴィー・レイ・ヴォーンが同行していなくて正解だったと思わざるを得ないショウでもある。しかしボウイとツアーそのものは大成功で自信溢れるライブショウを聴かせてくれるあたりはさすがプロフェッショナル。時代を反映した、もしくは時代を先導したライブの瞬間を切り取った一枚とも言えるアイテム。
