The main target of the 1990 “SOUND AND VISION” tour, called the “funeral tour” among enthusiasts, was the United States. Because it was the location of Rykodisc, which reissued the CD of Bowie’s album at that time, and it was a tour tie-up with Bowie’s CD recurrence campaign that started extensively in the same year.
However, the American tour that started in late April has a strange schedule with a performance in Japan on the way, and Bowie gets sick because of the forced march. It was two days at Tokyo Dome that I ate such a schedule, but it was also a forced schedule that the resumed American tour will start within a week after Bowie’s return. It was. Because of that, the American schedule, which spent the rest of May, was literally a convalescent tour, a time when Bowie’s conditions were uneven from day to day.
In addition to that, in May of the “SOUND AND VISION” tour, there was a huge broadcasting sound source called the second day of Tokyo Dome, so there was no broadcasting on TV or radio from the US schedule before and after. did. Even in the rear tie, the items of the American tour were not released even for the audience recording, and it was said that there was even a situation where it was no longer recognized unless it was a Bowie sound source collector.

The response from the UXBRIDGE label to the situation that has not improved even after Bowie’s death will be two titles, “TACOMA 1990” and “MOUNTAIN VIEW 1990 2ND NIGHT”. The former is a legendary day when Bowie, who is in great shape, performed the longest show in May with rare numbers. In addition, the latter is an item that captures an extremely valuable show at the Amphitheater, which can be said to be unusual in the “SOUND AND VISION” tour where a large venue of the stadium class was commonplace because it is a great taste hits tour. And both items were released on CD-R, but they were also masterpieces that made enthusiasts groan in that they recorded audience recordings with very good sound quality.
With those releases, it was finally possible to get a glimpse of the stage in May other than the performance in Japan, but at the same time as the appearance of the true hit, the best audience recording of the same period was unearthed.

It was Mike Millard who recorded it! Needless to say, it’s a legendary taper, but he also recorded on the “SOUND AND VISION” tour. He caught me from America in May at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on the 26th. It will be a venue selection that seems to be the same tour. Although it was an audience recording at LA’s vast stadium, the master Millard also demonstrated his skill here. With a powerful sound image, Bowie’s singing voice and Adrian Belew’s lead guitar who served as a bandleader on the “SOUND AND VISION” tour are also clear.
The WARDOUR label has released the definitive editions of the classic soundboards such as Vancouver, Tokyo Dome, Milton Keynes and Rio produced from the tour, but there are no items when it comes to the press board in the audience album of this tour. .. Even in the rear tie, the performance in Paris in April was released on Kinney’s masterpiece “PARIS AU PRINTEMPS” (I can’t wait to find the Kinney Master here!).
For that reason, the best audience from this tour, if it was by Mike Millard, enthusiasts would have decided, and the high quality will never disappoint.

And the sound source this time is not only its outstanding recording quality, but also the performance content is outstandingly good! Comparing the area around “Fashion” with Tokyo Dome, the difference is clear, but Bowie is in great shape anyway. I’m singing so much that I feel good listening to it. No, even the Tokyo Dome showed a surprising recovery on the second day, but Bowie on that day further opened the engine. I think it’s fun to be on stage because he’s in good shape, and the MC is also talkative and very excited. It’s been less than 10 days since the encore was omitted from the body on the first day of Tokyo Dome, and it was recorded with the ultra quality unique to Mirrored.
However, it’s not like that in the United States in the latter half of May (bitter smile), and depending on the day, even though it wasn’t as good as the first day of Tokyo Dome, there were days when I went with a set list with a few songs cut, and after all, “I’m sick.” It is a fact that it was a time of “the process of.”
Millard recorded the best performance of Bowie that stood out in such a period. For enthusiasts, it will also be a superb audience album that fills the gap between the two major soundboards, Tokyo Dome and Milton Keynes. Mirrored’s famous recording and performance that can be confidently recommended to enthusiasts who want to listen to the “SOUND AND VISION” tour with a good-sounding audience other than the standard sound board!
