The Japanese TV special “SPECIAL 1983” is back. This work is a 50-minute recording of the commercial TV special program “Exclusive !! David Bowie’s visit to Japan” from “Battle Meri” to “China Girl”, which welcomed Bowie who was visiting Japan on his third Japan tour as a guest. .. While the main theme is the movie “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence”, which was a big hit at that time, we will proceed with talks with directors, co-stars and big laughing entertainers in a live TV studio. The greatest taste is the atmosphere of Japan in 1983 when Bowie was breathing. A telop rides on the video of Bowie, who was decided to be a dandy, passing by quickly from the airfield scene at the beginning, saying “David Bowie has arrived! October 16” and “JAL422 flight 17:23 from Narita Airport London”. Furthermore, at the press conference in front of the golden folding screen (!), “David Bowie press conference October 18th, Akasaka Prince Hotel”. It overflows with a sense of the times that is hard to put into words. The following “Let’s Dance” is even more scary (?). A video of a Japanese dancing in a familiar disco-style set is inserted, but that set is shoboy. Moreover, it seems that the dancing Japanese people are boring, perhaps because they are nervous amateurs. Again, the indescribable cheapness radiates the scent of the 1983 TV show. After that, Bowie appeared in the live TV studio. A variety of guests related to the movie will join in and the talk will begin. Starting with the press conference video of the Cannes Film Festival, famous musicians, big-name entertainers, and directors who co-starred in Bowie and the film will talk about the story behind the shooting and the theme. In a light talk, he talks with Nico Nico, and when he talks about his feelings for the movie and the theme song about Eastern and Western culture, he can see plenty of Bowie who shows a serious look. The co-starring of Japanese entertainers and outside sauce is all about exchanging scripts, but they are the ones who ate the same rice in the movie shooting. Apart from the progress of the program, Bowie’s position at that time also emerges in the place where there is a mood that somehow warms old relationships with each other. The program will move to “Bowie’s music” with PVs such as “China Girl”, “Modern Love”, and “The Little Drummer Boy” co-starring with Bing Crosby. It should be the most delicious theme for Western music fans, but as the program goes on in the second half, it becomes “the performers talk about Bowie” rather than “Bowie talks”, and Bowie’s own comments decrease. It may be related to the progress of live broadcasting, but is it a bit disappointing? Anyway, it is a masterpiece image that shows the appearance of Bowie, who was extremely high as a pop star and a silver screen star, and the Japanese era that accepts it. The wind of the times that was blowing behind the masterpiece live album of “SERIOUS MOONLIGHT TOUR 1983”. One piece that smells still drifting from the monitor. Please take this opportunity to fully enjoy “1983 Bowie”.

Broadcast Date: 18th October 1983
