David Bowie / Glasgow 1973 / 1CDR / Uxbridge
Green’s Playhouse, Glasgow, Scotland 5th January 1973
“ZIGGY STARDUST TOUR 1972-1973”, the charisma of rock history, has descended to the earth. The hidden treasure live album is now available as a long version.
Included in this work is “January 5, 1973 Glasgow Performance”. Anyway, first of all, the position of the show. Let’s imagine from the big picture of the world tour.
[1972] ・ January 29-September 7: UK # 1 (56 performances)・ September 22-December 2: North America # 1 (26 performances)
・ December 23-29: UK # 2a (4 performances) [1973] ・ January 5-9: UK # 2b (4 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
<< January 24, “ALADDIN SANE” completed >>
・ February 24-March 12: North America # 2 (16 performances)
・ April 8-20: Japan (9 performances)
・ May 12-July 3: UK # 3 (59 performances)
This is the whole tour. Initially, the Glasgow performance was held in January and May for a total of three performances, but this work is the first show. Furthermore, it was also the first concert in 1973. Recordings have existed for a long time on this day, and it has also been known as the compilation board “THE LEGENDARY LOST TAPES”. This work is not a copy or remastered reproduction. It is a long version that has been digitized from the Omoto Master and includes “Let’s Spend The Night Together” and “The Jean Genie”, which have never been released before.
And the sound is a really wonderful vintage audience. It’s not as miraculous as “THE ALL AMERICAN BOWIE (Wardour-274)” released at the same time this week, but it has an excellent on-feel. The strong musical sound that suppresses the enthusiasm and reaches your hand is reliable, and the bass that tends to be thin is also responsive. Furthermore, the master freshness is amazing, there is almost no hiss, no distortion or deterioration is felt, and the sound is just glossy. As a matter of fact, I missed the permanent preservation press because recording was stopped at the beginning and the end of some songs, probably to save tape, but it is an unconventional quality enough for a 70’s audience.
The extra-thick sound is drawn by a wonderful show that is famous as a “masterpiece” by enthusiasts. As scheduled above, it was the first show in 1973, and it is in the process of finishing the masterpiece “ALADDIN SANE”. It’s a show where the band potential that ignites creativity explodes on the stage without taking a big off from the tour. Moreover, the set is also valuable “UK # 2”. Based on the 1972 edition, it has changed little by little, and the Rolling Stones cover “Let’s Spend The Night Together” is especially symbolic. Although it is a song that was also performed in Japan, it is unique to “UK # 2” that the opening is decorated before the usual “Hang On To Yourself”. Unfortunately, I’m smart, but I can enjoy precious scenes with great sound.
In addition to such a main story, the TV program “RUSSELL HARTY PLUS POP” recorded on January 17, 1973 was also recorded as a bonus. It is a famous sound source that “Drive-In Saturday” has become an official single on both A sides, but this work is a full recording including “My Death” and an interview of 12 minutes or more. This “My Death” is also a wonderful performance called “Best Performance” by enthusiasts. Also, since you can record the sound boards that appear on TV side by side, you can understand how wonderful the quality of the main Grasgo performance is.
From 1972 to 1973. It is a masterpiece of a live album where you can feel the history of “Jiggy Stardust” who changed his appearance during the tour and raised the show. One piece that you can fully enjoy the precious TV appearance by witnessing the precious “UK # 2”. Please enjoy the wonderful “ZIGGY STARDUST TOUR” to your heart’s content.
