The first appearance of the cream reunion concert that was suddenly brought to you, the best stereo audience master! ] This week, there is a release of a treasured master related to the heavyweight taper living in the UK, which is well-established in Eric Clapton sound source. Suddenly, the heavyweight taper brought us to the superb CDR master of the second day of the cream reunion Madison Square Garden on October 25, 2005. I was wondering “Why this time?”, But when I checked with the heavyweight taper, a friend of the heavyweight taper who lived in the Netherlands at that time wanted to see the cream, so I flew to New York only on this day and my DAT I was given a CDR of what I had recorded in stereo with a recorder, but I heard that I had forgotten it until now. When I found this CDR and listened to it by chance, I noticed that the surrounding audience noise was extremely low and it was completely recorded with the best sound quality, so I offered it to our shop. In other words, it is the best first generation master that has never appeared on the market before. Our staff also listened to this master and came to the conclusion that we can’t help but release it immediately. It’s been 16 years since then. Cream, which has made its name in rock history, was a band that changed “rock” at that time with Jimi Hendrix, despite the activity period of only two years from 1966 to 1968. For that reason, the voices of rock fans wishing for their reunion have been constantly rising since 1968, when they disbanded. However, it was Clapton’s will that refused it for 37 years and prevented it from happening. For him, who has been a huge success in solo, the reunion of Cream is nothing more than a meaningless spectacle to go back to the past because of the bitter memories of being exhausted and disbanded due to the conflict between Ginger and Jack at that time. Because I was thinking. However, things changed dramatically in 2005. Jack Bruce was in danger of life because he was ill enough to have a liver transplant. Ginger Baker is on the verge of being seized of his home due to tax delinquency in his current address in Nigeria, Africa. Looking back on his career since 2000, Clapton, who has been co-starring with many friend musicians and warming up old relationships, reached out to his two old friends here. And the reunion concert that was realized. It first took place in May at the Royal Albert Hall in London for four days. Naturally, many rock fans from all over the world rushed to the Royal Albert Hall. It seems that many fans from Japan also went to see it. They stood on the same stage for the first time in 37 years, and they didn’t look like they were “in a war with an instrument”. It wasn’t too loud and distorted. There were three people smiling and praising each other from time to time. From a purely “musical” perspective, I think this was the sound they originally wanted to make and make. The uniqueness of Cream’s songs, the outstanding skills of the three. That was the concert I was able to reconfirm.

All three played musical instruments of a model different from that of the cream era, and brought out the goodness of the music with a technique that can be said to be the culmination of their careers, and they fascinated me. At Clapton, I was expected to play the same Gibson guitar as in the cream era at a loud volume, but I easily betrayed such an expectation and only my favorite signature stratocaster at that time. I played. The volume is appropriate, and the instrument is different from the cream era. As a result, the “taste” of each person in 2005 was brought out. All songs were rehearsed properly and the set list included ideas. Best of all, I set in Outside Woman Blues, Pressed Rat And Warthog, and Badge, which I had never played live in the Cream era, and also played the blues Stormy Monday, which I played on the club circuit before the formation of Cream. In the intro of this song, Ginger goes through the backing with a drum roll. He is nothing but his unique idea. In addition, Tales Of Brave Ulysses was set in this US performance. Clapton’s wah trampling in the aftermath is exhilarating. Also, Badge is completely creamy, starting with Jack’s bass and only once after the break, rather than an arrangement that starts with the guitar intro and repeats after the break, as Clapton plays in a solo performance. It was played in a form close to the original. Clapton was always conscious of “cream” when playing. I think I was going to regain that feeling again. It is said that the cause of the dissolution was the feud between Jack and Ginger, and it is said that during the concert in London, the two did not get out of touch even offstage, but at the subsequent New York performance, the dog monkey will be in the dressing room again. It seems that he has returned to his relationship. However, it is a short-term performance for only 3 days. The situation around that was not reflected on the stage, and the three of them finished the performance safely, showing the best performance. The official live album from the London performance has been released, but of course the sound source of this New York performance is not recorded. And after this, neither Jack nor Ginger returned. It is no longer possible to reunite the cream. Well, I think it was realized at this time. There is no doubt that this concert was also engraved in rock history as Cream left its name in rock history. The sound source of the same day was released in the past, but this board is the one that recorded the best master that first appeared in Japan. I hope you will re-recognize “cream” on this board. 【突然もたらされたクリーム再結成コンサートの初登場極上ステレオ・オーディエンスマスター！】
今週は、エリック・クラプトン音源では定評ある、イギリス在住の重鎮テーパー関連の秘蔵マスターのリリースがございます。このたび突然重鎮テーパーからもたらされたのは、2005年10月25日のクリーム再結成マジソン・スクエア・ガーデン2日目公演の極上CDRマスターでした。「なぜ今頃？」と当店も思ったのですが、重鎮テーパーに確認したところ、当時オランダに住む重鎮テーパーの友人がクリームをどうしても観たいとのことで、この日だけニューヨークに飛び、自身のDATレコーダーでステレオ録音してきたものをCDRでもらっていたのだが、今の今まで忘れていた、とのこと。ひょんなことからこのCDRを見つけ聴いてみたところ、周囲のオーディエンスノイズが極端に少なく、極上と言える音質で完全収録されていたことに気づき、当店に提供してきたということでした。つまり、これまでまったく出回ったことのない、完全初登場の極上ファーストジェネレーションマスターだというわけです。当店スタッフもこのマスターを聴き、即座にこれをリリースしないわけにはいかない、という結論に達しました。もうあれから16年も経ってしまいました。ロック史にその名を残すクリームは、1966年～1968年にかけてのたった2年余りの活動期間にもかかわらず、ジミヘンとともに当時の「ロック」を変革したバンドでした。それだけに彼らの再結成を願うロックファンの声は、解散した1968年直後から絶えず上がってきました。しかし37年間それを拒み、実現を阻んできたのはクラプトンの意思によるものでした。ソロで大成功を収めている彼にとっては、当時ジンジャーとジャック二人の確執の板挟みに遭い、疲弊消耗し解散した苦い思い出から、クリーム再結成は過去に戻るだけの意味のない見世物でしかないと考えていたからです。ところが、2005年になって事態は劇的に変わりました。ジャック・ブルースは肝臓移植するほど体調が悪化し生命の危機に瀕していました。ジンジャー・ベイカーは現住所のアフリカ、ナイジェリアで税金を滞納し、自宅を差し押さえられる寸前という状況。2000年以降、自身のキャリアを振り返り、多くの友人ミュージシャンと共演を重ね旧交を温めていたクラプトンは、ここで旧友二人に手を差し伸べたのでした。そして実現した再結成コンサート。それはまず5月にロンドンのロイヤル・アルバート・ホールで4日間行なわれました。当然世界中から多くのロックファンがロイヤル・アルバート・ホールに駆けつけました。日本からも大勢のファンが観に行ったようです。37年ぶりに同じステージに立った彼らにはかつての「楽器を持って戦争をしているような」姿はありませんでした。歪んだ大音量でもありませんでした。そこには時折微笑みを交わし、互いを称え合う3人の姿がありました。純粋に「音楽」という観点で考えた場合、ひょっとすると、これこそが本来、彼らがやりたかった、出したかった音だったのではないかとさえ思います。クリームの楽曲のユニークさ、三人の卓越したスキル。それが再確認できたコンサートでした。

【ロンドン公演とはまた違ったニューヨーク公演をリアルに甦らせる極上マスター】
そして、このロンドン公演があまりの大反響、大好評を呼んだため、同年10月にニューヨーク公演が行なわれることになったのです。ここで、クリーム再結成に至るまでのこの年のクラプトンの活動を振り返ってみましょう。

・2005年1月15日：BBCのテレビジョンスタジオにて「TSUNAMI AID」へのチャリティとしてロジャー・ウォータースと共にWish You Were Hereを演奏、収録
・2005年1月22日：イギリス、カーディフで行なわれた「TSUNAMI AID」チャリティコンサートに出演

これをご覧いただくと、クリームの再結成コンサートがこの年のメインであったことが判ります（その他の活動はすべてスポットのチャリティ絡みでした）。つまりクラプトンは2005年は「クリーム再結成」に注力していたのです。ファンにとってはこのコンサートは37年ぶりに実現した夢のような瞬間でした。全員還暦を越えており、かつての全てをなぎ倒すようなパワーは影を潜め、インプロヴィゼーションも短くなっていましたが、ここには熟練の味が加わっていました。三人ともクリーム時代とは異なるモデルの楽器をプレイし、キャリアの集大成とも言えるテクニックで楽曲の良さを引き出し、魅了してくれたのです。クラプトンにおいては、事前にはクリーム時代と同じギブソン系のギターを大音量で鳴らすことを期待されもしましたが、あっさりとそんな浮かれた予想を裏切り、当時気に入っていた自身のシグネイチャー・ストラトキャスターだけをプレイしました。音量は適正、楽器はクリーム時代とは違うもの。それにより2005年の各人の「味」が醸し出されることとなりました。全曲きちんとリハーサルされ、セットリストにはアイデアも盛り込まれました。何よりもクリーム時代にはライブでプレイしたことのないOutside Woman Blues、Pressed Rat And Warthog、Badgeをセットインさせ、クリーム結成以前のクラブサーキットでプレイしていたブルースStormy Mondayをもプレイしました。この曲のイントロでは、何とジンジャーがドラムロールでバッキングを通します。彼ならではのアイデアというほかはないです。さらにこのアメリカ公演ではTales Of Brave Ulyssesがセットインしました。後奏におけるクラプトンのワウ踏み捲りが爽快です。またBadgeは、クラプトンがソロ公演でプレイしているような、ギターのイントロで始まり、ブレイク部以降を二度繰り返すアレンジではなく、ジャックのベースから始まり、ブレイク部以降は一度だけという、完全にクリームのオリジナルに近い形で演奏されました。クラプトンは終始「クリーム」を意識してプレイしていました。もう一度あの感覚を取り戻すつもりだったのでしょう。かつての解散原因はジャックとジンジャーの確執と言われ、ロンドンでのコンサート中にはオフステージでも二人の仲が悪くなることはなかったと言いますが、この後のニューヨーク公演ではまた楽屋で犬猿の仲に戻ってしまったそうです。しかし僅か3日間だけの短期公演。そのあたりの事情はステージには反映させず、ベストなパフォーマンスを披露して、3人は無事公演を終えたのでした。オフィシャルではロンドン公演からのライブアルバムがリリースされていますが、当然このニューヨーク公演の音源は収録されていません。そしてこの後、ジャックもジンジャーも帰らぬ人となりました。今ではもうクリーム再結成は無理なのです。よくぞ、この時に実現しておいてくれたものだと思います。クリームがロック史にその名を残すとともに、このコンサートもロック史に刻まれたことは間違いないでしょう。過去に同日の音源はリリースされていますが、本邦初登場の極上マスターを収録したのが本盤です。本盤で「クリーム」を再認識していただければと思います。お早めのオーダーをお待ちしております。
