Rolling Stones / Toronto 1989 1st Night / 2CD / Non Label–3800 Live at CNE Stadium, Toronto, Ontario, Canada 3rd September 1989 STEREO SBD Play sample : Click Image To Enlarge   新たに発掘されたマイク・ミラード録音のロスアンゼルス最終公演のスーパー録音タイトルで、「STEEL WHEELSツアーはやっぱり最高だったな！」との想いを強くしたファンも多いのではないでしょうか。リリースから一か月で200枚越えは、89年ストーンズのオーディエンス・タイトルとしては、まさに異例の反響。 ツアーの開始によって「ストーンズが本当に戻ってきた！」をリアルに実感し始めた89年秋。「今度こそ実現するかもしれない！」と、夢にまで見た日本公演を祈念しながら、アメリカより伝わってくる断片的な情報のひとつひとつに、そのわくわく感を増大させていたあの頃こそ、ある意味、ファンにとっては本当に幸せな時期の一つでありました。 当店がご用意するのは、1989年ツアー序盤の名音源。今度はサウンドボードです。といってもレアでもなんでもありません。フィラデルフィア2デイズに続くトロント2日間、その初日（ツアー3日目）。そう、あの「Mixed Emotions」のMTVライヴ映像の日です。もともと流出90分の不完全ビデオでおなじみだった公演で、そのビデオを基にしたCDもリリースされていましたが（VGP「Sweet Toronto」やTSP「Live In Toronto」等）2013年にウルフギャング・ヴォルトからついに完全版が登場。尺も50分以上長くなり、全曲を優れたステレオ・サウンドボードで楽しめるようになりました。ただし、公開版では左右が逆転していたため当然反転修正。さらにテープチェンジと思われる個所で欠落していたPlay With Fire と Dead Flowers の曲間30秒（ミックのMC)をオリジナルのビデオ音声より補填。シームレスのライン録音で楽しめるように補正しました。ここまで優れたサウンドボード音源ですが、7年前のリリース時にあっという間にソールドアウトになり、以来、一度も再発されていません。ですので、今回は初の再リリース盤ということになります。素晴らしいステレオ・ラインで最初から最後まで楽しめる一枚。未聴のファンの方はぜひ、お楽しみください！！ ———————————————- ★下記はオリジナル・リリース時の説明文です。 ミックとキースの不和を乗り越え、ローリング・ストーンズにとって新たな歴史の始まりだった1989年「STEEL WHEELS」ツアーは開始当初から大変な話題を呼びました。久々に実現したライブ・ツアーであったことはもちろんなのですが、1981年を凌ぐ大規模なスケジュールと大会場、そして当時の最新テクノロジーの粋を集めたステージングもストーンズの復活を印象付けたものです。このツアーが後にアトランティック・シティや翌年の来日公演といった名演、名音源を生み出すのですが、ツアー序盤の音源に関しては今一つ決定打に欠ける状況が続いていました。この時期は会場のスクリーン流される為に撮影された映像が多数流出していますが、それらはモノラル録音ばかり。そんな中で数少ないステレオ・サウンドボード録音の音源として知られているのが1989年9月3日のトロント公演です。 この日は当時MTVが映像収録を行っており、音声もステレオ・サウンドボード録音にて収められました。そこから「Mixed Emotion」が放送されたのですが、その後ロング・バージョンの映像が流出、しかもステレオ音質だったことからいくつものアイテムを生み出しました。ところがこの映像は「Honky Tonk Women」の途中から「Sympathy For The Devil」までがごっそり抜け落ちていたのです。ツアー序盤におけるせっかくのステレオ音源が何とも残念なものとなっていました。 ところが2013年のストーンズ・レア音源界に大旋風を巻き起こした「WOLFGANG’S VAULT」サイトが今度はこの日の音源を公開してくれました。今回も過去のものと同じステレオ音源なのですが、特筆すべきは何と言っても初めての完全収録が実現したことでしょう。例の未収録部分もバッチリ。これだけでも過去のアイテムを一掃する発掘だと断言できるのですが、音質の向上ぶりがまたかなりのもの。以前のバージョンは流出ビデオが元ということでダビングを重ねた中で音が荒くなり、低音の歪みなども散見する状態でしたが、それでもこの手のレア音源からすると高音質なレベルでした。ところが今回はそうしたダビングによる劣化やビデオ特有のハムノイズが一切入りません。文字通り一皮むけたようなクリアーさが際立っています。それでいて完全収録なのですから文句なしというもの。 ただしこの日の音源、二本のギターに関しては左右にくっきり分かれるというよりは、むしろ中央にまとめられたようなバランス、そこから二人のプレイが聴き分けられるような状態と言えるでしょう。その中でもキースの音がロニーや他の楽器に追いやられ気味な点は今回も変わりません。しかしクリアーさを増したことで過去のものよりはキースの音も随所で聴き取れるようになっています。 ...
