Headless, the highest jazz collector’s label, has reissued the precious titles of handmade labels for collectors, which were distributed only in a small part, from the official master who took over. Hawk is here. A rare title is re-appearing at an affordable price with a reissue emblem and a newly refurbished back jacket.
It is a live sound source by Carlos Santana + John McLaughlin’s Indian thought group. The performance is well recorded in the audience recording, but there are some places where cheers are a little worrisome. It’s a title that is worrisome just to say that it is the two major guitarists who have co-starred many times until now, but since the spiritual orientation of the 70’s hides the shadow and the rock color is quite strong, it is also two major purely from the perspective of rock fans. You can enjoy the sound of a guitarist. The most notable thing is the luxury of the set list. “Light Off” from Miles’ masterpiece “Jack Johnson”, in which McLaughlin himself participated in the recording of the album, is a fan tear. There are other Coltrane numbers that I admire, but the instrumental medley that connects Bob Dylan’s “Heavy Rain” to Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” is a must-listen.

カルロス・サンタナ+ジョン・マクラフリンのインド思想組によるライヴ音源です。オーディエンス収録で演奏は良く録れていますが、やや歓声が気になる箇所もあります。今までも度々共演してきた二大ギタリストと言うだけでも気になるタイトルですが、70年代のスピリチュアル志向は影を潜めロック色がかなり強くなっているため、純粋にロック・ファン目線としても二大ギタリストのサウンドが楽しめます。何と言っても特筆すべきはセットリストの豪華さ。マクラフリン自身がアルバムのレコーディングにも参加したマイルスの名盤“ジャック・ジョンソン”から『ライト・オフ』はファン感涙もの。他にも敬愛するコルトレーンのナンバーなどもありますが、ボブ・ディランの『激しい雨が降る』からレッド・ツェッペリンの『天国への階段』に繋がるインスト・メドレーは必聴です
