Bryan Adams in 1988, who made RECKLESS and INTO THE FIRE hits in succession and reached the peak of Japan’s popularity. Introducing the original master who tells the scene.
The performance of “February 5, 1988: Nippon Budokan” is included in this work. It is an excellent Odin recording that you can experience the whole story. Speaking of 1988, there is an image of being sandwiched between the monster hits “RECKLESS” and “WAKING UP THE NEIGHBOURS”, which are the number one monsters in the United States, but it was the number one performance in Japan in history. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and confirm the position of the show.

・ January 29: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium
・ January 30: Shizuoka Sangyokan
・ January 31: Nagoya Rainbow Hall
・ February 2: Osaka Castle Hall
・ February 3: Osaka Castle Hall
・ February 5: Nippon Budokan ← ★ This work ★
・ February 6: Nippon Budokan
・ February 7: Nippon Budokan
・ February 9: Nippon Budokan
・ February 10: Nippon Budokan

Above, all 10 performances. The following year, in 1989, there was a Tokyo Dome performance with Huey Lewis, but 1988 was the largest number of performances. Moreover, half of it was a powerful schedule of 5 consecutive Nippon Budokan. This work is a live album on the first day that marked the beginning of such an unprecedented Budokan Week.
And the sound that vacuum-packed the site is a really fresh master sound. After all, the essential performance sound is really thick and there is no sense of distance, and even if you listen carefully with headphones, you can hardly feel the hall ringing. There is no snare squishy feeling that is common in audience recording, but rather a heavy feeling. It’s so powerful that it feels like a limiter is applied to the peak of the hitting sound, but it’s so close that it feels like an FM broadcast.
It is the breath of the audience that makes you feel like an audience instead of the performance sound and vocals (?). Don’t get me wrong here, it’s not (at all!) Recordings that are plagued by upcoming screams and conversational voices. The bold and thick performance does not give up the leading role by a millimeter, but the big chorus and clapping that boil in each song are very real. The sense of rhythm is unwavering like Japanese, and the yellow roar that responds to Brian’s every move flies in the distance. The sound of the performance that is too close and the distance of the correction give a sense of perspective, creating an octagonal sense of space.
Although it was the best, it was real. The sound that embodies the ideal of such audience recording is a full show that boils down to two big hits. Speaking of the stage in 1988, the traditional version “LIVE! LIVE! LIVE!” Comes to mind first, but while that official live version was about 1/70, this work exceeds 100 minutes. Full recording of. It also contains plenty of delicious repertoire that you can’t even hear on traditional editions. Let’s organize by comparing here.

● YOU WANT IT YOU GOT IT (2 songs)
・ Lonely Nights (★) / Coming Home (★)
● CUTS LIKE A KNIFE (5 songs)
・ The Only One (★) / Cuts Like A Knife / Take Me Back / This Time (★) / The Best Was Yet To Come
● RECKLESS (8 songs)
・ Kids Wanna Rock / It’s Only Love / Heaven / Run To You / Somebody / One Night Love Affair / Long Gone / Summer Of ’69
● INTO THE FIRE (6 songs)
・ Only The Strong Survive (★) / Hearts On Fire / Native Son (★) / Another Day (★) / Heat Of The Night / Into The Fire
* Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard in “LIVE! LIVE! LIVE!”.

… And it looks like this. There are 7 songs that are not in “LIVE! LIVE! LIVE!”, And the overall feeling of the 1980s is unparalleled. Moreover, the repertoire of “Only The Strong Survive,” “Native Son,” and “Another Day” is limited to this tour, and “Coming Home” and “The Only One” are not played on later tours. You can also experience the best of such precious songs at Nippon Budokan.
It is a masterpiece of a live album where you can fully experience the enthusiasm that will be the beginning of 5 consecutive performances at Nippon Budokan with the best sound. Not only a number of precious masterpieces, but also the atmosphere of the Budokan with the remnants of the Western music boom is beautiful, and it is a delicious vacuum-packed 2-disc set. The scent of that era that floated only in 1988. Please inhale to your heart’s content with this work.

『RECKLESS』『INTO THE FIRE』

LIVE! LIVE!』

●YOU WANT IT YOU GOT IT(2曲)

『LIVE! LIVE! LIVE!』 しかも、「Only The Strong Survive」「Native Son」「Another Day」といったレパートリーはこのツアーだけの限定曲ですし、「Coming Home」「The Only One」も後のツアーでは演奏していない。
