こうして幕を開けた85年のヨーロッパ・ツアーのドイツ上陸となったのが6月15日のフランクフルトでした。そもそもヨーロッパ・ツアーからは人気の絶頂を反映して高音質なLPが当時連発されたものですが、その例に漏れずこの日も「DANCING IN THE PARK」や「WELCOME TO GERMANY」といったアイテムの登場によってマニアに知られていたものです。しかし当店はそれらと違う、新たなオーディエンス録音マスターを独自に入手。懐かしの「SA C-90」カセットで録音されたマスターを元に、何とも贅沢な限定のプレスCDリリースの実現となりました。
ヨーロッパ・ツアーに関しては現在、フランクフルトから二週間後のパリ公演のプロショット映像がポピュラーな存在となっており、あるいは「LIVE 1975-85」ライブ・アルバムリリース時に作られた「Born To Run」PVで見られた激しい観客の盛り上がりが思い浮かぶ人が多いのではないでしょうか。実際にこの録音からもオープニングから日本とはまったく異質な観客の盛り上がりがリアルにキャッチされています。それらの左右から聴かれる臨場感が実に見事なのですが、それに埋もれることなく演奏が中央からオンな音像で聴かれるバランスがまた絶妙！

ただし日本公演と比べるとこの日のスプリングスティーンはちょっと声が嗄れ気味な様子でスタートしていますが、だからこそ「Johnny 99」と「Atlantic City」という「NEBRASKA」収録曲で物凄いシャウトを聴かせてくれる様にノックアウトされてしまいます。当時の大ヒットは「30代にして大ブレイク」的なことがことある度に報じられていましたが、やはり30代の半ばと言えばまだまだ若いスプリングスティーン、正に「力技」でライブ前半における喉の不調をねじ伏せています。ライブ前半が終わると休憩時間が設けられている様子もキャッチされているのが面白いのですが、そこから聴こえる会場のBGMがU2だというのも80年代半ばらしく、何とも懐かしく映ります。
そして後半のセットからはさらにオンな音像へとグレードアップするだけでなく、スプリングスティーンの調子も見事に復活。今回同時リリースの大阪では聴かれない「Trapped」や「Downbound Train」が披露され、さらには「I’m On Fire」における、日本では想像もできないような盛り上がり（大合唱となります）と臨場感も絶妙なバランスで楽しめます。スプリングスティーンを得意とするクリスタル・キャットもびっくり、当店から初の85年ヨーロッパ・ツアーのリリースにふさわしい、極上オーディエンス録音を心行くまでお楽しみください！
