ディランのライブハウス・ツアーとして連日大反響を巻き起こしている来日公演から4月5日の公演が何とプレスのCDにて最速リリースが実現します。四年前の来日公演がギフト・レベルだった当店がどうして今回はプレスでのリリースへと踏み切ったのかといいますと、何しろ連日の評判の良さに尽きるでしょう。「TOGETHER THROUGH LIFE」、「TEMPEST」というここ二作のアルバム収録曲を中心とした自信のセットリストは昨年のロイヤル・アルバート・ホールと同様なものですが、それでも今回は少しずつ選曲を変えてえてみせたもので、中でも4月4日に映画の挿入歌というマイナーな存在の「Huck’s Tune」ライブ初披露が実現したことは世界中のファンを驚かせました。それに先の二作を中心としたほぼ固定のセットリストによる高品位な演奏も好評を呼んでいます。
そんな中で当店も多くの独自オーディエンス・マスターを入手、その中から厳選した4月5日の東京公演をリリースとなりました。（録音者はあのクラプトン＆ベックの「LIVE TOGETHER」の超絶テーパーです。）もちろんこの日も「Huck’s Tune」は位置を変えて演奏。ところが東京終盤から再度固定セットとなってしまい、演奏されなくなってしまいました。しかしここで聴かれる演奏はゆったりと優しい調子が絶品で、このまま片手で数えられる回数のライブ披露終わってしまうのではあまりにもったいないものです。この後、かろうじて福岡で一度だけ演奏されましたが、こんなレアな演奏が一年のツアー序盤から早速聴けた日本のファンはラッキーでしょう。
そして音質もライブハウス・ツアーならではの親近感とオンな音像を実現した別格のクオリティ。昨年のアルバート・ホールと聴き比べれば今回がどれほど小さな会場でのライブかということがはっきり分かるかと思います。文字通り耳に優しいマイルドな質感、演奏のバランス、そんな中でもディランのボーカルの輪郭やオンなバランスは見事なもので、高品位で穏やかな演奏と共に、今回の来日公演ならではのサウンドをじっくりと堪能していただけます。それに小さな会場ですので、ディランも望んだであろう親密な雰囲気を持った会場の臨場感までも捉えてみせました。
