This time, not only Dylan’s 1995 European tour first day, but also Prague on the second day will be released at the same time. This may be the highlight of this release. Of course, this is also based on the master cassette that also used “12 /-A POUND”, but after all, there were only 7 songs recorded as bonus tracks, and the full-length version is This is the first appearance.
Since the same taper was recorded at the same venue, the state of the sound source such as the sound image is similar to the previous day. However, since it is the second day at the same venue, the balance of the sound output at the venue is better than the first day, and the point is that the sound image of Dylan’s singing voice is even closer.
In addition to that, Dylan himself sang more freely than the day before when he was able to sing as much as he wanted in a singer state, probably because he had completed a different formation (= not playing the guitar) stage the day before due to an unexpected situation. It is remarkable that “I Don’t Believe You” was not played the day before. The arrangement that reminds me of the 1966 tour with The Band is very attractive, and Dylan who does not play the guitar is singing enthusiastically here.
Rather, maybe it tasted the day before, in the following “All Along The Watchtower”, the band’s performance was cut into a harmonica solo, and the venue applauded for the enthusiasm of the next “Just Like A Woman”.
Ironically, because Dylan doesn’t play the guitar, then Dylan band guitarist John Jackson is playing as hard as he can without worrying about his unreasonable guitar (laughs). Thanks to that, “Tangled Up In Blue” captures the band sound that can only be heard in this short period of time when Dylan’s guitar is played less frequently, such as Jackson playing a hard riff that is usually in the back. Very rare.
Also, maybe Dylan himself wasn’t too lazy, because he didn’t play the guitar in this song, he shouted with the engine fully open, and he told me a lot of great songs that I don’t think he had any problems with his physical condition more than the day before.
Also, on this day, Dylan is playing Strat in “Ballad Of A Thin Man” as well as the same two songs as the previous day, but unlike the previous two songs, he played the unreasonable lead guitar throughout the performance. I’m playing to my heart’s content, and it’s interesting to return to the normal Dylan & band sound of this era. The ending also ends with his guitar phrase. Listening to this scene made me keenly aware of how the members matched Dylan, and that’s why the ensemble only at this time, in which Dylan didn’t play the guitar in most of the songs, was in a precious and neatly organized state (laughs). Will be reminded.
And the second day in Prague, which until now could only be seen as a bonus of “12 / -A POUND”, was so fulfilling. Even the day before, the level of performance was high, and this day was even better. In addition, Dylan’s enthusiastic singing without playing the guitar on this day and the band’s dashing performance released from his curse (bitter smile) are overwhelming, coupled with the audience recording that is outstandingly easy to hear. The missing part is also made up from another source on the same day, and while it is released on CD-R, we are making every effort in terms of content!
★ The full length version of the sound source that was partly recorded in the bonus of the already released board “12 /-A Pound”.
