Just as the precious session sound source of “THE FREEWHEELIN’BOB DYLAN” was released at once 10 years ago and ascended enthusiasts all over the world, the precious sound source of 1964 was released at once in 2014. rice field. One of the highlights was Dylan’s first official British concert, the Royal Festival Hall on May 17th. There was only such a historic night, and it became clear that the concert was being told from ancient times, and at the same time, it was actually officially recorded. In other words, it’s not a PA-out soundboard, but a regular stereo recording using a 4-track recorder.
However, speaking of Dylan in 1964, the Halloween concert, Philharmonic Hall on October 31, is so famous that it will be sunny in the 21st century and will be released as “LIVE 1964”. Research by enthusiasts revealed that there was a fine live recording about half a year before Dylan’s representative sound source in 1964, and the excavation was eagerly awaited. Then, in the 21st century, only two songs contained in acetate appeared, which made the maniac confused and at the same time made them recognize that “it really exists …”.
Sure enough, the sound quality is a wonderful stereo sound board. In that case, everyone would want to hear the full-length version, but it was not “outflow” but “passage of time” that made it possible. In 2014, the phantom Royal Festival Hall came to light due to the “adult circumstances” that 50 years have passed since the sound source was recorded. However, it was released in a twisted format (laughs) that was only LP, and it was “LIVE AT ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL 1964” that was immediately made into a CD.

Not only a phantom live recording, but the sound quality is perfect for the above reasons. Still, enthusiasts from all over the world are amazed at the performance content that is completely different from the Halloween concert. Until the sound source appeared, “Down the Highway”, which was rumored to have been unveiled on the day, was not actually played, and there was even a miso that it turned out that it was a false alarm. Not only was it a valuable sound source without any price, but it was inevitable that the live sound source would be a dream for enthusiasts who wanted to have the best sound quality in stereo.
Therefore, “LIVE AT ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL 1964” released in 2014 is of course Sold Out. Not only is it a recurrence of items that have become difficult to obtain, but a stable supply as a stereo soundboard album of Dylan in the folk era that even beginners can enjoy with peace of mind, let alone enthusiasts, is inevitable.
Therefore, this time, the recurrence that enthusiasts all over the world have been waiting for will be realized, but Graf Zeppelin, who supervised it, said, “There was almost no need to make any changes.” Therefore, the part of the Royal Festival Hall is the same as the last time, but some of the noise that was generated because the LP was the original was deleted. More than that, Graf Zeppelin focused on the bonus track. They are also a group of sound sources released at the same timing in 2014, but the performance “With God On Our Side” on TV had a twist in the sound due to the deterioration of the original film. Graf Zeppelin adjusts there firmly. Furthermore, he corrected the pitch itself.

Dylan’s first stage in England, which was recorded with the highest sound quality in this way, the performance content and set list are too interesting. In May 1964, the UK was just about to release his latest album “THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'”, and for the British audience who packed the festival hall, “THE FREEWHEELIN’BOB DYLAN'” The impression was overwhelmingly strong, and I should have expected the performance from the same album.
However, Dylan couldn’t do such a market research and challenge the stage (laughs). He was in the midst of rapid growth as a songwriter, and he said that half of the latest album and half of the old and new unreleased songs occupy. It was a stage that projected the latest mode of my own at that time.
Especially the composition of the first half can be said to be too aggressive. “Girl From The North Country” was barely sung from “THE FREEWHEELIN ~” (this performance is wonderful), and “Talking John Birch Paranoid Blues” and “Walls Of Red” were omitted from the previous albums. Sing unreleased songs such as “Wing” in a straightforward manner. On the contrary, even the songs included in the next work “ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN”, which had not even been recorded at this point, were set in. If you think about it, in the latter half of the live, the “THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'” mode will be strengthened with the tone of “Restless Farewell” which made you feel the sadness of the album as it is, and “Eternal Circle” which was stored from the same album. valuable.
Not only was it a freshly made new song, but it was the Royal Festival Hall that sang “Mr. Tambourine Man”, which was once stored in the session of the next work “ANOTHER SIDE”, in public for the first time. That is. For that reason, the careful and polite performance cannot help but touch the hearts of the listeners. I was really lucky that the scene where the masterpiece, which would be popular as a rare masterpiece like “Blowin’In The Wind”, was performed live for the first time was recorded with the best sound quality.
And when it comes to “ANOTHER SIDE ~” and Halloween concerts, the fluffy singing style peculiar to Dylan in the second half of 1964 appears prominently (= marijuana), but at this point, the ambition until the previous year still remains, and that The unique singing is also a big attraction of this sound source. In 1964, which was a transitional period throughout the year, the long-awaited re-release of the stereo sound board album that captured the even more valuable stage with perfect sound quality!

それ故2014年にリリースされた「LIVE AT ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL 1964」は当然Sold Out。

「THE FREEWHEELIN~」からは「Girl From The North Country」が辛うじて歌われた(この演奏が素晴らしい)程度で、よりによってそれまでのアルバムの収録から漏れた「Talking John Birch Paranoid Blues」や「Walls Of Red Wing」といった未発表曲を平然と歌い上げる。
