このように、リッチー最後のジャパンツアーは全５公演で、東京公演はそのラスト２回。つまり、本作はリッチー日本最後の２公演をフル収録しているライヴ・セットなのです。ディスク１・２には「10月22日」、ディスク３・４には「10月23日」のフル・オーディエンスを収録しており、さらにDVDRで「10月22日」の貴重なテレビ映像を収めています。
そんなメモリアル価値バツグンの本作ですが、クオリティもまた素晴らしい。両日とも録音家本人から直接渡されたDATマスターをダイレクトに使用しており、かつて『QUEEN FOR A DAY』『THE LAST NIGHT IN TOKYO』としてリリースされ、絶賛を博したこともある録音です。特に「10月22日」を収めたディスク１・２のクリアさ、ダイレクト感は最高級。いわゆる「まるでサウンドボード」と呼べる類のもので、あまりの激近サウンドにリッチーの指先がギター弦をこする音までハッキリと聞こえる。「聞こえそう」ではありません。しっかりと耳元に聞こえるのです。もちろん、ギターだけが特出しているわけではなく、バンド・アンサンブルも美しく均整が取れている。まったくもって極上のサウンドなのです。「それならプレスを……」となるところなのですが、残念ながら、わずかばかりの欠点がある。ところどころで、マスターに起因するデジタル・ノイズが入ってしまうのです。ほとんどは言われても気づかない程度のものなのですが、ショウ中盤の３曲「Ghost Of A Rose」「I Still Remember」「Avalon」では、そうもいかない。もし黙ってリリースしたら、プレイヤーの故障と思われかねない。もちろん、一番酷いパートでも聴くに耐えないレベルにはならないのですが、基本録音があまりにもハイクオリティなために、脳が「こんなに高品質なのにノイズが入るわけない」と思い込んでしまうのです。まったく、まったくもって惜しい……。
代わっての最終日「10月23日」もまた、とんでもなく素晴らしいサウンド。クリアさはディスク１・２にも匹敵し、なによりもノイズや劣化が一切ない。激近だったディスク１・２に比べるとやや距離感もあるものの、その残響がいっそ幻想的なムードを醸しだし、BLACKMORE’S NIGHTの音楽世界によく似合う。少々気取って言わせていただくと、「10月22日」は影の輪郭までくっきりと描き出す眩しい陽光、「10月23日」は英国の深い森をイメージするようなサウンドなのです。
そんなクオリティで残された日本最後の２日間は、BLACKMORE’S NIGHT世界の理想郷。初来日から７年の年月によって飛躍的にバンドらしくなり、ただただ美しかった音楽がダイナミックに成長している。特にひたすら繊細可憐だったキャンディス・ナイトは、ほぼ別人。ときに雄大に歌い上げ、ときに妖艶に囁き、ときに母性豊かに包み込む。それでいて可憐な魅力も損なわれることなく、よりコケティッシュなトーンを聴かせる。「Soldier Of Fortune」でも（デイヴィッド・カヴァデールとはまるで違いながら）一節、一言に表情を使い分けるような歌唱力を身につけているのです。さらにはステージ度胸も比較にならない。現場を盛り上げるMCには日本語を交え、観客から笑いを取るほど場慣れている。さらに驚くのは最終日に起きた地震。客席からも「おおっ」「地震」「凄い揺れ」という声が聞こえ、リッチーも演奏をストップ。さすがに地震慣れしていない外国人だけに若干の狼狽も見せます（リッチーは揺れる天井の照明を心配そうに見ていたそうです）が、観客の日本語英語「Don’t Worry About It!」にも笑って応え、メンバーが落ち着くまでMCで場を繋ぐ余裕ぶりを見せます。
演奏、歌唱に加えてショウ運びの熟練ぶりも隔世の感。デビュー作しかなかった初来日よりもレパートリーは豊富になり、名曲を選りすぐってセットを組めるだけの贅沢さがたっぷり。DEEP PURPLE、RAINBOWの曲にしてもより自然に、よりBLACKMORE’S NIGHTらしく演奏されるようになり、「10月22日」には「Mond Tanz」に「Child In Time」を挟み込み、「Black Night」「Woman From Tokyo」のメドレーを聴かせる余裕さえ見せる。代わっての「10月23日」に至っては最終日だからなのか、アンコールに美味しい曲盛りだくさん。RAINBOW時代を彷彿とさせる「Blues」に続き、「The Temple Of The King」「Purple Haze」「Since You Been Gone」「Sixteenth Century Greensleeves」の大盤振る舞いなのです。
長くなりましたが、本作はまだ終わらない。最後のボーナス的なディスクはDVDR。わずか６分ほどのワンカメではありますが、プロショット映像です。テレビ放送された「10月22日」の模様で、暗闇の中でリッチーがローランドのギターシンセの付いたエレクトリック・アコースティック・ギター（テレキャスター型のオーダーメイド）でシンセギターのソロをつま弾く姿からスタート。「Cartouche」に入るとヴァイオリンのチューダー・ローズがソロを弾いている間にリッチーはラウド（スペインの楽器）に持ち替え、中間部ではキャンディスによるショ―ムのソロも披露します。単にアコースティックなだけでなく、さまざまな楽器の音色を駆使するBLACKMORE’S NIGHTの魅力が凝縮された６分間なのです。

1972年のDEEP PURPLE初来日以来、13回のツアーで日本を訪れてきたリッチー・ブラックモア。その最後の２夜を最高級クオリティで捉えきったライヴセットです。本作のコンサートを最後にリッチーに逢えない日々を重ね、12年もの歳月が流れてしまいました。RAINBOW復活の狼煙と共に来日を切望する声が絶えない昨今ですが、奇跡の来日は実現してくれるのでしょうか。それとも本当にこれが最後になってしまうのか……。本作から流れ出るフレーズが滑らかだからこそ、「もう一度！」の想いが止まらない。そんな罪作りな１本、今週末あなたのお手元へお届けします。
