“LAST GIG with RAY” (LANGREY: 2 CD) released in 2003 was remastered original master tape and re-released on press CD. In 1986, Glenn Hughes of the vocal group quickly withdrew from various circumstances from the SABBATH which started with the promotion of the album “SEVENTH STAR”, but Tony Iomi continued the tour, was then unknown in the major scene at that time Ray Guillan hurriedly joined, March 29 – resumed tours from Connecticut. 数あるBLACK SABBATHのライヴ音源の中でもひときわ重要な一本が、ファンの皆様の熱いご要望にお応えして遂に再登場します！1986年の「SEVENTH STAR」リリースに伴うツアーから、その最終日に当たる6月4日・ノッティンガム公演を破格の高音質でオーディエンス録音した「LAST GIG WITH RAY」(Langley)は、７年前にリリースされたとたんBLACK SABBATHファンの間で大きな話題となり、瞬く間に姿を消してしまいました。Crazy S氏によって録音されたマスターテープは、当時のオーディエンス録音としてはもともと高品位な素材であり、前回登場した時点でこれを上回るものはない位の素晴らしい聴き応えがありましたが、今回の再登場に当たって元となったマスターテープを全面的にリマスターし、丁寧にトリートメントされた本作は、前作を持っている人でも買い直しを真剣に考慮していただきたい、無上の高音質と最上級の聴き易さを兼ね備えたスーパータイトルに生まれ変わっています！

聴き手はオープニングの「Supertzar」から、本作のまるで包み込むような臨場感に圧倒される事は必至で、続く「The Mob Rules」の劇的なスタートで一気にノックアウトされてしまうでしょう！レイ・ギランが持ち前のウェットでパワフルな歌唱力を存分に発揮する「Children Of The Sea」や「War Pigs」は絶品。特に「Children Of The Sea」のしっとりとした歌い出しはロニーともひと味違う色気たっぷりでゾクゾク。レイの声をこれほど美しく捉えた録音は奇跡と言うほかありません！彼は’86年の3月末にバンドへ加入するまでSABBATHの楽曲をほとんど知らなかったそうですが、僅かな期間でこの説得力溢れるパフォーマンスを披露しているのですから、レイの才能には驚かされます。「Danger Zone」や「Heart Like A Wheel」といった「SEVENTH STAR」収録曲では、グレン・ヒューズのオリジナルを踏襲しつつも、まるで彼がオリジナルではないかと錯覚させられるほど、彼ならではの個性を織り込んだ堂々たる歌声を聴く事が出来ます。ツアーの最終日とあって、レイの他にもメンバー全員が普段以上に気合の入ったプレイを聴かせています。エリック・シンガーとデイヴ・スピッツの力強いリズムセクションや、ジェフ・ニコルズのキーボードプレイも、サウンドの分離に優れた本作では余さず聴き取ることができます。特に歌入りの「Sympton Of The Universe」から「Sweet Leaf」に流れるこの当時ならではのヘヴィ級メドレーでは、イギリスのベテラン勢にアメリカの若い血が加わった’86年SABBATHでこその爆発力を満喫できるでしょう。また「Seventh Star」と「Die Young」においてはジェフ・ニコルズが大いに活躍しており、彼の手腕が壮大でドラマティックなSABBATHの世界観を見事に描き出しています。緩急の差を巧みに利用した「N.I.B」から「Neon Knights」のメドレーや、アイオミのギターソロをフィーチャーした「Heaven And Hell」も相変わらず素晴らしいのですが、本作の聴き所はDisc 2冒頭の「Black Sabbath」でしょう。臨場感満点の音場に轟く雷鳴のようなアイオミのギターとエリックのドラムは本当に強烈で、オカルティックな曲想が極上の音質を得て、かつて無いほど不気味な音世界を生み出しているのです！このテイクは、可能ならば是非、優れた再生環境のもとでお楽しみ頂けたらと思います。それほどに凄い一曲です！そして本作もう一つのサプライズが、「Paranoid」の後に行われる、トニー・アイオミから観客へのお礼のスピーチです。普段ならばそういったパフォーマンスをあまりやらないアイオミが、この時は観客へ何度も感謝の意を述べ、観衆も大きなSABBATHコールで応えています。アイオミはイアン・ギランの脱退後からメンバーチェンジに悩まされ、「SEVENTH STAR」の製作とツアーでも苦労を重ねてきただけに、無事にツアーを終えられた事がやはり嬉しかったのでしょう。　観客の湧きあがるようなSABBATHコールの中にエンドテーマの「Lagna Sunrise」が流れてくるシーンは感動的であり、この瞬間は長いSABBATHの歴史においても重要な一場面だと言えるでしょう。

先ごろ発表になったオフィシャルのデラックスエディションにより、俄然注目を集めるようになったレイ・ギラン時代のサバス。本作と同時リリースのギフト盤「Texas Danger Zone」と併せればライン音源のほとんどが聴けますが、依然としてどんなショウであったのか、全体の様子を知ることはできません。そこで最適なのが本作です。最終公演というのは単なる記念ではなく、意気高く脂の乗りきったショウであり、この後再びサバスのシンガーとしてステージに立つことのなかったレイにとっては最終到達点。その歴史的タイミング、究極のハイクオリティ・サウンド、完全収録、すべての意味においてベスト中のベスト。レイが歌う「The Eternal Idol」デモは素晴らしいですし、サウンドボードのライヴも良いでしょう。しかし、あなたが「レイ・サバスを何か１枚」と思うのなら、本作こそが絶好絶対の大代表作で間違いありません。なぜ超高音質サウンドボードを差しおいて本作がプレスなのか、聴いていただければ誰もが納得していただけることでしょう。始まった瞬間に驚き、最後まで大満足なスーパータイトル。アン・オフィシャルの底力、ぜひご体感ください！ピクチャーディスクの限定プレスCDにて歴史的名音源が最良の形で蘇ります。
