The superb stereo sound board that has symbolized the legendary first visit to Japan is brushed up. One piece that updates the highest peak is a permanent preservation press CD.
[Outflowed sound board completely different from FM broadcasting] The symbolic sound board was recorded at “November 18, 1980: Nakano Sun Plaza Performance”. It is a famous show because there was an FM broadcast from that time, but this work is a different thing while the same show. It is a leaked stereo sound board recording that was discovered in the 90’s. Speaking of their first visit to Japan, they have archived a number of masterpieces, including the most recently released masterpiece “DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1980 (Zodiac 382)”. Above, all 6 performances. Four performances were planned at Nakano Sun Plaza, but Tony Iomi got oysters and got food poisoning on the third “November 18th”. It became impossible to continue by “Iron Man”, and the show the next day was canceled so severely. FM broadcasting by a certain broadcasting association has become a classic for the show, but the leaked sound board excavated in the later years was a completely different thing. Even the full version of the day that also recorded “Supertzar” and “War Pigs” that had been cut in the broadcast (the show was interrupted without encore due to the sudden illness of Iomi as mentioned above) is terrible, More intense is the mix. I don’t know who was in charge of mixing the FM broadcast version, but it had a melodic and romantic image overall, and it was a RAINBOW-like worldview. However, in the leaked version, the thick and fierce core is exposed, and Iomi’s guitar and Geezer’s bass are violently rampant.
Also, Ronnie’s vocal that roars to follow such both men is intense. It isn’t generally known because he sang smoothly in “LIVE EVIL”, but basically, BLACK SABBATH’s Ronnie is more aggressive than RAINBOW. It’s a sizzling savory dish with plenty of flavour. The ultra-direct feeling and violent liveliness of the soundboard directly connected to the board depict the true value of vocalization, which was even called the “demon song.”
Despite its super quality alone, it is powerful and unrivaled, but what is drawn with that sound is “HEAVEN AND HELL TOUR” where no official live album was left. It’s also a good time to get your soundboard collection organized.

The above 6 performances are left on the sound board. Bill Ward disappeared in the middle of the tour, but the three types before that can be completed with our “DEFINITIVE HARTFORD 1980 (Zodiac 335)”, and after Vinnie’s change, three works will be individual. Surprisingly, this is the only sound board that was completely recorded after Vinnie changed. The longest sound board is “BRINGER OF EVIL: DEFINITIVE EDITION”, but the intros of “Heaven And Hell” and “Paranoid” were not recorded. On the other hand, although there is no encore in this work, it is not playing. You can fully experience the actual show without any cuts.
Although Iomi was in a bad record and it was a record show, the flowing performance was incredible. In the first place, Iomi is a person who does not seem to be in good or bad condition, but despite the show that cannot be continued, the part played is playing on the iron wall. Rather, it seems that it is better than usual because of the enthusiasm performance of the remaining three people who try to cover the disorder of Iomi. One piece that updated the highest peak of such Japanese performance sound board. Please enjoy the permanent preservation press CD to your heart’s content.

【FM放送とはまったく異なる流出版サウンドボード】
そんな象徴サウンドボードが記録されたのは「1980年11月18日：中野サンプラザ公演」。当時からFM放送があったことでも有名なショウですが、本作は同じショウながら別物。90年代になってから発掘された流出ステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。彼らの初来日と言えば、先日リリースされた最高傑作『DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1980（Zodiac 382）』をはじめ、数々の傑作でアーカイヴしてきました。まずは、日程でそのコレクションを整理してみましょう。

以上、全６公演。中野サンプラザでは４公演が予定されていましたが、３回目の“11月18日”でトニー・アイオミが牡蠣にあたって食中毒。「Iron Man」までで続行不能になり、翌日のショウもキャンセルになるほどの重症となってしまいました。そのショウは某放送協会によるFM放送が大定番となってきましたが、後年になって発掘された流出サウンドボードは、まるで別物となるものでした。放送ではカットされていた「Supertzar」「War Pigs」も収録された当日の完全版（前述のようにアイオミの急病のためにアンコールなしでショウは中断されました）というだけでも凄まじいのですが、さらに強烈なのがミックス。誰がFM放送版のミックスを担当したのかは分かりませんが、全体的にメロディックでロマンティックなイメージを醸しており、RAINBOW的な世界観でした。しかし、流出版は極太・激烈な芯も丸出しで、アイオミのギターもギーザーのベースも凶暴に暴れまくるのです。
そして、そんな両雄を従えるように轟くロニーのヴォーカルも強烈。後の『LIVE EVIL』では滑らかに歌っていたために一般にはあまり知られていませんが、基本的にBLACK SABBATHのロニーはRAINBOW時代よりもアグレッシヴ。ドスを利かせた凄味で迫り、外連味もたっぷり。卓直結サウンドボードの超ダイレクト感、乱暴なまでの生々しさが、“鬼の歌”とまで呼ばれたヴォーカリゼーションの真価を描ききっているのです。
【ベストマスターを磨き込んだ最高峰更新盤】
思わず前置きが長くなってしまいましたが、本作はそんな強烈サウンドボードの最高峰を更新したもの。流出版サウンドボードもいくつかのマスターがありますが、その中でもベストとして知られる『DARK KNIGHT』を細心マスタリングで磨き直したものです。そもそも『DARK KNIGHT』からして超・極上だったために「どうやってアップするんだ？」と思われるかも知れませんが、そのポイントは空間感覚……とは言っても、鳴りをぶ厚くするような演出ではありません。むしろ逆で１音１音の輪郭をよりシャープにし、レンジもワイドに調整。特にシンバルの分離感やスネアのアタック音が鮮やかになっています。これにより、もともと丸出しだった芯が鮮やかに交差するようになり、ステレオ感豊かに飛び交いまくる。公式ライヴアルバムでもオーディエンス録音でもあり得ない、「直結系サウンドボードだからこそのダイナミズム」がより一層強烈に味わえるのです。
その超クオリティだけでも強力無比ではありますが、そのサウンドで描かれるのが公式ライヴアルバムが残されなかった“HEAVEN AND HELL TOUR”というのが美味しい。良い機会でもありますので、ここでサウンドボード・コレクションも整理してみましょう。

以上の６公演がサウンドボードで残されています。ツアー途中でビル・ワードが失踪したわけですが、その前の３種は当店の『DEFINITIVE HARTFORD 1980（Zodiac 335）』でコンプリートでき、ヴィニー交代後は３作個別となります。また、意外なことヴィニー交代後で完全収録サウンドボードは本作だけ。最長サウンドボードは『BRINGER OF EVIL: DEFINITIVE EDITION』なのですが、「Heaven And Hell」や「Paranoid」のイントロが録音漏れとなっていました。それに対し、本作はアンコールがないものの、それは演奏していないから。実際に行われたショウをノーカットで完全体験できるわけです。
アイオミの不調で記録に残るショウではあるものの、流れ出る演奏はそれが信じられないくらい凄い。そもそもアイオミは好不調をあまり見せない人ではありますが、続行不能になるショウにも関わらず、演奏された分は鉄壁にこなしている。むしろ、アイオミの不調をカバーしようとする残り３人の熱演ぶりが加わっていつもより良いのではないかと思えるほどです。そんな日本公演サウンドボードの最高峰を更新した１枚。どうぞ、永久保存プレスCDで存分にご堪能ください。
