The Beatles “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” has been released many times due to its nature as a TV movie. There is a fact that the audio has been remixed each time, which means that there are many different mixes as a result. The latest version is the Blu-ray version released in 2012. If the system has a large capacity, the remixed sound can be used to its full potential. If that happens, the finish of the new stereo mix made retroactively to the session tape using the latest technology is a wonderful word. When the animated movie “YELLOW SUBMARINE” was made into a DVD in 1999, a newly remixed album was released under the concept of “SONGTRACK”, but in 2012 “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” it was It didn’t come true.

The song track album released on the internet by Maxwell Edison Records, a mania label that actually focused on this point, was based on this time, and it was recorded on the first disc. In the usual album, Paul speaks brilliantly, but in the original sound of the movie, John is humorous and has a unique line of “Halley Halle”.
Thus, it was a mysterious item that had not been made into a CD until now, but when this limited press release, we reviewed the content and refined it to a more complete compilation. The previous “She Loves You” was changed to the same pitch height according to the state at the time of movie recording. What’s even more noteworthy is that “Zampa Overture” by the Easy Listening Group and the International Studio Orchestra, which was also used in the marathon scene, is finished in reverse rotation and editing similar to movies, making it more complete as a song track It has become a content.
And the performance of traffic that saw the day with the bonus video of Blu-ray was included in the Maxwell Edison Records version, but it was omitted this time because it was virtually unrelated to the Beatles and movies. Instead, it includes a full version of an example orchestra performance as a bonus. Furthermore, I added the orchestral track of “I Am The Walrus” and the original material of Shakespeare drama that appears in the middle of the song.
The second disc summarizes the recent remixes of the Beatles songs used in the movie and the single songs recorded on the B-side of the album with the same name, which is the remix version of the album “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR”. It is. Some songs had some intros and endings that were slightly missing when they were added to the movie scene, but this time they were usually closely adjusted by patches from the album. All the 2012 remix versions heard here have been made on the premise of Blu-ray recording, and they are just surprised by the extremely clear finish.
The opening tune (starting from the usual dialogue by Paul), the rhythm guitar by John’s acoustic guitar, which was previously unheard of, is clearly sounding. The clearness of each instrument in the instrumental “Flying” is also wonderful.
But most importantly, “I Am The Walrus”. There is no doubt that it is a song that is challenging to remix from the beginning, and when the “ ANTHOLOGY ” DVD was already made, a version that can be heard in stereo was made until the end, but as expected, Blu-ray, A powerful new stereo mix that surpasses that. Although the performance of the basic band is highlighted, it still has a modern finish in a good sense that the various decorations added are not buried. The masterpiece of clearness and reborn finish that can be heard in this way will definitely be enjoyed with headphones, and you will be surprised by the vividness of the intro.
The remix of “ABBEY ROAD” was released this year, and the release of “LET IT BE” is confirmed next year. If you go in that order, the remix of “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” will be realized for the keyboard for the time being. In this respect, this release will lower the mania drinking. Still, it is the first surprise to mania that BGM sound sources other than the Beatles can be heard with clear sound quality from the original sound source without going through the video. In other words, like the US version of “A HARD DAY ’S NIGHT” soundtrack, the point is that the performances other than the Beatles used in the play are heard in perfect condition.
And the remix version that overwhelms the listener with outstanding clearness unique to 2012, and the second “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” that was reborn with the addition of recent remixes. It is a waste to appreciate this only on Blu-ray. The best song track album you want to enjoy at full volume from your speakers. This is no longer a Blue jay way Blu-ray way!
ビートルズの「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」はテレビ用映画という性質上、何度もソフトがリリースされてきました。その度に音声がリミックスされて来たという事実があり、これは結果として多くの別ミックスが存在することを意味します。その最新バージョンというのが2012年にリリースされたブルーレイ版。大容量を誇るシステムであれば、リミックスされた音声が存分に威力を発揮することができる。そうなれば現在の最新テクノロジーを使ってセッション・テープに遡って作られた新たなステレオ・ミックスの仕上がりは素晴らしいの一言。1999年にアニメ映画「YELLOW SUBMARINE」がDVD化された際には「SONGTRACK」というコンセプトの下で新たにリミックスされたアルバムがリリースされたのですが、2012年の「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」ではそれが叶いませんでした。
そこで今回のリリースが目指したのが「MMT」のソングトラック・アルバム。実際にこの点に着目したマニア・レーベル、Maxwell Edison Recordsが2015にネット上で発表したソングトラック・アルバムが今回のベースとなっており、それが一枚目のディスクに収録されたもの。このタイトルの凄いところは、メインとなるブルーレイ音声はもちろんですが、映画の場面で使われたビートルズ以外の楽曲や演奏まで元音源を突き止めて収録してみせた点でしょう。
例えばマラソン大会のシーンで流された「She Loves You」のカバー・バージョンはIrvin’s 89 Key Marenghi Fair Organというオルガン楽団によって演奏されたもので、1965年に彼らがリリースした「PLAYS LENNON AND McCARTNEY」EPに収録されていた音源。またジェシーおばさんとブラッドべセル氏が浜辺でいちゃついた場面で流れた「All My Loving」のカバーはアーサー・ウィルキンソン・オーケストラがやはり65年にリリースした「BEATLE CRACKER SUITE」というEPに収録されていたもの。こうしたアイテムにまで遡って映画の演奏をまとめてくれたのがMaxwell Edison Recordsの凄いところ。
さらに同レーベルは映画のタイトル曲の冒頭で登場する台詞に関して、1967年当時のオリジナルのモノラル音声からオリジナルの台詞をミックスさせ、ステレオながらオリジナルの状態が楽しめるように仕上げています。通常のアルバムではポールが威勢よく語っていますが、映画のオリジナル音声ではジョンが滑稽な声で「ハルリーハルリー」という独自の台詞を発しているのが特徴。
こうして今までCD化されて来なかったのが不思議なほどのアイテムだったのですが、今回の限定プレス盤リリースに際しては内容を見直し、より充実したコンピレーションへと磨き上げました。先の「She Loves You」は映画収録時の状態に従って同じピッチの高さに変更。それ以上に特筆すべきは、やはりマラソン・シーンで使われていたイージーリスニング・グループ、インターナショナル・スタジオ・オーケストラによる「Zampa Overture」を映画と同様の逆回転や編集へと仕上げ、ソングトラックとしてより完全な内容となっているのです。
そしてブルーレイのボーナス映像で日の目を見たトラフィックの演奏などもMaxwell Edison Records版には含まれていましたが、実質的にビートルズや映画と無関係な収録であったことから今回は省略。代わりにボーナスとして、例のオーケストラの演奏のフル・バージョンを収録。さらに「I Am The Walrus」のオーケストラ・トラックと曲の途中で登場するシェイクスピア劇の元ネタ音源まで追加しました。
二枚目のディスクには映画に使われたビートルズの楽曲+同名アルバムのB面に収録されていたシングル曲で近年作られたリミックスをまとめ、いわばアルバム「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」のリミックス・バージョンとなっています。いくつかの曲は映画の場面に加えられた際にイントロやエンディングが若干ながら欠けてしまった箇所などがあったのですが、今回は通常アルバムからのパッチによって綿密にアジャスト。ここで聞かれる2012年のリミックス・バージョンはどれもブルーレイ収録を前提として作られたことはあり、どれも極めてクリアーな仕上がりに驚かされるばかり。
オープニングのタイトル曲（こちらはポールによる通常の台詞からスタート）からして従来は聞き取れなかったジョンのアコギによるリズムギターがはっきり鳴っており、これが何とも歯切れ良くて新鮮。またインストゥルメンタル「Flying」における各楽器のクリアネスも素晴らしい。
しかし何と言っても極めつけは「I Am The Walrus」。元からしてリミックスのやりがいのある曲であることは間違いなく、既に「ANTHOLOGY」DVDが作られた時点で最後までステレオで聞き通せるバージョンの製作が敢行されていましたが、さすがはブルーレイ、それをも軽く凌ぐ迫力のニュー・ステレオ・ミックス。ベーシックなバンドの演奏が浮き彫りになっていながら、それでいて付け加えられた多岐に渡る装飾も埋もれてないという、いい意味でモダンな仕上がりとなっている。これらで聞ける圧巻のクリアネスと生まれ変わった仕上がりは是非ともヘッドフォンでじっくりと味わっていただきく、イントロの生々しさからして驚かされることかと。
今年「ABBEY ROAD」のリミックスがリリースされ、来年は「LET IT BE」のリリースが確定している。そうした順番で行けば「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」のリミックスが音盤用に実現するのは当分先のこと。その点において今回のリリースはマニアの溜飲を下げてくれることでしょう。それでいてビートルズ以外のBGM音源が映像を介さずに元音源からクリアーな音質で聞けるというのがマニアには驚きの一枚目。いわばUS版「A HARD DAY’S NIGHT」のサントラと同じように、劇中で使われたビートルズ以外の演奏が完全な状態で聞かれるのがポイント。
そして2012年ならではの抜群なクリアネスで聞く者を圧倒させるリミックス・バージョンと、さらに近年のリミックスまで付け加えられて生まれ変わった「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」が手軽に楽しめる二枚目。これをブルーレイだけで鑑賞するのはもったいない。スピーカーからフル・ボリュームで楽しみたい最高のソングトラック・アルバム。これはもうBlue jay wayならぬBlu-ray way！

The first weekly release of “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR SONGTRACK” will be accompanied by a CD-R “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR VHS SOUNDTRACK” containing audio from the 1988 video of the movie “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR”. Unlike other Beatles movies, “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” was delayed for release as a video software because it was for television broadcasting. In the early 1980s, it was unique in Japan (and the image quality was poor and expensive. There was a time when the video existed.
For that reason, when the video was released in 1988 with Apple’s heart, enthusiasts around the world welcomed with their hands. But that’s not all, when the audio was remixed using the digital technology of the time. It seems that I didn’t touch the complicated “I Am The Walrus”, but some songs had a mix that changed dramatically.
From the “Magical Mystery Tour” that flows at the opening after all, I was surprised by the percussion sound that makes a dull sound from the right side with a different finish from the conventional version. Also, the album with the same name as the movie was a mix where vocals tend to be sent to one side reflecting the era of the 1960s, but here “ Your Mother Should Know ” and “ Blue It was also fresh that the Jay Way vocal was centered.
The Remasters Workshop, familiar to mania, showed the sound of this 1988 video version on CD. Although it can be enjoyed in a very clean and clear state, for some reason it was released with the left and right channels reversed, so this time it was adjusted to an accurate localization.
This title is not only a Beatles song but also a movie, so the lines in the play will appear. In the days of LP boot without video, items with a whole movie were released, but this is a taste of the CD version, and it will feel nostalgic.
In addition, the remix that was given in 1988 was also applied to songs such as “Jessie’s Dream” that was played in the movie scene, and the original sound that was for TV broadcasting in 1967 was monophonic On the other hand, I was reminded that careful stereo remix work was done when it was released in 1988.

「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR SONGTRACK」の初週リリース分には映画「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」の1988年版ビデオの音声を収録したCD-R「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR VHS SOUNDTRACK」が付属します。「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR」は他のビートルズの映画と違ってテレビ放送用だったこともあってかビデオ・ソフトとしてのリリースが遅れ、1980年代初頭には日本だけで独自に（しかも画質が悪くて高価な）ビデオが存在していた時期があったほど。
それだけにアップルの肝いりで1988年にビデオがリリースされた際には世界中のマニアが諸手を挙げて歓迎したもの。しかしそれだけではありません、その際には音声が当時のデジタル技術を使ってリミックスが作られたのです。さすがに複雑な「I Am The Walrus」には手を付けなかったようですが、いくつかの曲は劇的にイメージの変わるミックスが施されていました。
何しろオープニングで流れる「Magical Mystery Tour」からして従来のバージョンと違った仕上がりで、右側から鈍い音を立てるパーカッションの音に驚かされたものです。また映画と同名のアルバムは60年代という時代を反映してボーカルが片側に寄せられがちなミックスだったのですが、ここではテレビでの再生を踏まえた上で「Your Mother Should Know」や「Blue Jay Way」のボーカルが中央に配置されていたことも新鮮だったのです。
この1988年ビデオバージョンの音声をCD化してみせたのはマニアにおなじみのRemasters Workshop。大変にスッキリかつクリアーな状態で楽しめるのですが、何故かリリース時には左右のチャンネルが反転した状態でリリースされてしまったので、今回は正確な定位へとアジャスト。
このタイトルはビートルズの楽曲だけでなく、映画をそのまま収録しているので劇中の台詞なども登場します。ビデオがないLPブートの時代には映画を丸ごと収録したアイテムがリリースされていたものですが、これはそのCD版といった趣であり、それが懐かしく感じられることでしょう。
おまけに88年の際に施されたリミックスは映画のシーンで流された「Jessie’s Dream」のような楽曲にも施されており、1967年のテレビ放送用だったオリジナルの音声が全編モノラルだったのに対し、88年のリリース時に入念なステレオ・リミックス作業が行われていたことを思い知らされます。
そして何より今回「MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR SONGTRACK」にてリリースされる2012年版のステレオ音声とはまるでミックスが異なっており、ビートルズの楽曲以外のパートまで、そのミックス違いが楽しめるというマニアックなCD-Rボーナス・ディスクなのです。それに何と言っても音質が最高にクリアー。是非とも初週リリース分にて本ギフトを入手してください！
