Two years ago, when “GET BACK COMPLETE EDITION”, a compilation of different versions of the Beatles’ unreleased album, was released, I said, “The album itself will not be officially released in the future.” As you know, this month the album is finally officially released. Isn’t it a situation that is likely to happen officially?
However, this is not the end of the story, and when it was released, it was said that the same song was firmly recorded in the Japanese version in the 1969 version mix. Even so, there are versions that remain the 70-year version in overseas versions and LPs, and it seems that it is not straightforward at all. Fortunately, it was unfortunate that “For You Blue”, which had the most difference in mix between the 1969 and 1970 editions, was recorded correctly in the Japanese edition. Furthermore, there were many traces of splicing multiple sources, such as sudden hiss noise only in the chat between songs.

Under these circumstances, the various “GET BACK” items, which were thought to have their value halved after this release, have ironically survived. At least this official was released in a state of a compromise between the 69th edition and the 70th edition, and when it comes to items that contain each age completely, the value does not fade. The item that is perfect for this situation is the “GET BACK COMPLETE EDITION” released in 2019, and it is also an item that is needed now.
However, this title is Sold Out. However, in this situation, it is impossible to get this work, which was the culmination of “GET BACK”, so it was decided to re-release it!
Two years ago, it was the culmination of “GET BACK”, which was compiled over four discs, but of course it is not just a recurrence, but we are reviewing the content based on this situation. First of all, the content is narrowed down to the acetate produced on January 30th, which was recorded in the main, and the acetate part that summarizes the oldies jam called “Beatles Sunday” recorded as a bonus. cut.
Therefore, Glyn Johns summarized it on January 26th and 27th, and recorded only the so-called “Get Back Mark 1” that he created after the rooftop concert on the 30th. This was later the source of LP items in the direction of “KUM BACK”, but the amazing finish that cleanly removed the noise peculiar to acetate is still alive. For Mark 1, this will be the permanent best source.

The second disc was the most renewed in this re-release. Last time, “OPD”, which is said to be the Beatles’ earliest underground LP, was recorded, but since the beginning of this year, new items that recorded the LP have appeared, so this time the LP Instead of recording, we created a version that reproduces the contents of acetate before the completion of “GET BACK”, which seems to be the source of the LP.
Speaking of “OPD”, it is known among enthusiasts that “Dig It”, which is not recorded in each “KUM BACK” item and has a longer recording time than the later completed version “GET BACK”, is recorded. However, the acetate was made in early May 1969. At this point, the content was almost close to the completed version “GET BACK”, but one of the parts that wasn’t there was the long “Dig It”. The other is a long recording of the scene after finishing “Get Back”.
Unfortunately, the actual acetate made by Johns in early May has not been excavated. Also, “O.P.D.” had the big drawback that it contained only the Lch sound of the original stereo mix. So, the Dig It part that was recorded only on the same board is from the acetate of “Beatles Sunday”, the intro of Get Back is from the acetate of Mark 1, and even then, only the chat part after the Get Back performance is the movie “LET IT BE” (Or “GET BACK” to be released next month), the unprecedented novelty of restoring Get Back Mark 2 by patching from the so-called monaural Nagra sound source and without the drawback of missing one channel. I summarized it in the concept. In other words, it is a complete reproduction of acetate, which was the basis of “O.P.D.”.
While there is a theory that John was the cause of the acetate spill, which was mentioned in this official liner (and he didn’t deny it), it was probably this version that he gave to the journalist. maybe.

And on the 3rd and 4th sheets, “GET BACK” of each age is recorded this time as well. Both adjusted the pitch that was slightly slow. In addition, the equalizing has been redone slightly, and both have increased warmy. Also, for the 1970 version, at the end of the performance of “Let It Be”, the reduced sound of the keyboards was distorted (please listen carefully to the left channel), and the part where the lingering sound was slightly lacking was repaired. By adjusting the pitch accurately, the running time recorded on the tape box of the existing album master and the disc 4 of this board are exactly the same (see the inside of the jacket for the photo of the tape box), and the maniac It’s a point, but I hope you can understand from this that we have made a thorough review that goes beyond mere recurrence.
Ironically, with the realization of this official release, the 69th and 70th editions have become necessary as materials. Moreover, it was mentioned in detail how important Glyn Johns played in the liner notes, but the convenience of this title is that it covers the acetate that appears there. If you listen to it while reading it, you will be fully immersed. Due to this situation, the recurrence was inevitable … For you who are not satisfied with the official!

今から二年前、ビートルズの未発表アルバムのバージョン違いの集大成「GET BACK COMPLETE EDITION」がリリースされた際「これからもオフィシャルでアルバムそのものがリリースされることはないでしょう」と申し上げたのですが、ご存じのように今月そのアルバムが遂にオフィシャルでリリースされることと相成りました。その日が訪れるとはね。
これにてLPでもCDでも数え切れないほどリリースされてきた「GET BACK」アイテムがお役目御免になる日がやってきたのか…とマニアが思いを馳せようと思っていたところ、どうやらリリースされるのは「1969年版と70年版の混成」であり、中でも世界中のマニアを狼狽させたのはリリース前のプレビューとして「For You Blue」が配信された際、それが70年版ミックスだったという事実。いかにもオフィシャルで起きそうな事態ではないでしょうか。
ところがこれで話は終わらず、いざリリースされてみれば日本盤にはしっかりと69年版ミックスで同曲が収録されていたという。それでいて海外版やLPでは70年版のままというバージョンもあり、何とも一筋縄ではいかない様相を呈しています。少なくとも69年版と70年版の間でもっともミックスの違いが現れていた「For You Blue」が日本盤では正しく収録されていた点は不幸中の幸いかと。さらには曲間のおしゃべりだけ突然ヒスノイズが入ったりと明らかに複数ソースを継ぎ接ぎした痕跡が多々あるという有様でした。

こうした状況によって、今回のリリースを境にてっきり価値が半減すると思われていた各種「GET BACK」アイテムは皮肉なことに生き長らえる状況となってしまいました。少なくとも今回のオフィシャルが大なり小なり69年版と70年版の折衷という状態でリリースされた訳で、となると各年代をコンプリートに収めたアイテムはそれだけで価値が色褪せない。この現状に打ってつけなアイテムが2019年にリリースされた先の「GET BACK COMPLETE EDITION」であり、今こそ必要とされるアイテムでもある。
ところが本タイトルはSold Out。しかし今回の状況の中で「GET BACK」の集大成たる名盤だった本作が手に入らない状況などありえない…ということで再リリースが決定しました！
二年前、ディスク四枚に渡ってまとめ上げた「GET BACK」の集大成ですが、もちろん単なる再発にはとどまらない、今回の状況を踏まえた内容の見直しを行っています。まず一枚目ですが、メインに収録されていた1月30日製作のアセテートだけに内容を絞り、ボーナスとして収録されていた「Beatles Sunday」と呼ばれたオールディーズ・ジャムをまとめたアセテートのパートをカット。
よってグリン・ジョンズが1月26日と27日にまとめ、30日のルーフトップ・コンサート終了後に彼が作成した通称「Get Back Mark 1」だけを収録しました。これが後に「KUM BACK」方面のLPアイテムの元となっていたのですが、アセテート固有のノイズを奇麗に取り払ってみせた驚異の仕上がりは今回も健在。Mark 1はこれが永久ベストソースとなるでしょう。

今回の再リリースにおいてもっとも内容の刷新を行ったのは二枚目のディスク。前回はビートルズ最初期のアンダーグラウンドLPだと言われる「O.P.D.」を収録していましたが、今年に入ってから同LPを収録した新たなアイテムが登場していることもあり、今回は同LPを収録する代わりに、同LPの元になったと思われる「GET BACK」完成前のアセテートの内容を再現したバージョンを作り上げたのです。
「O.P.D.」と言えば各「KUM BACK」アイテムには収録されず、なおかつ後の完成版「GET BACK」よりも収録時間の長い「Dig It」を収録していることがマニアの間で知られていますが、そのアセテートは69年の5月初旬に作られたもの。この時点でほとんど完成版「GET BACK」に内容は近づいていたのですが、そこに無いパートの一つが長い「Dig It」でした。もう一つは「Get Back」を終えた後の場面も長く収録されている。
残念なことにこの5月初旬にジョンズが作った完成直前のアセテートの現物は発掘されていません。また、「O.P.D.」は元のステレオミックスのLchの音しか入っていないという大きな欠点もありました。そこで同盤にだけ収録されていたDig Itのパートを「Beatles Sunday」のアセテートから、Get BackのイントロはMark 1のアセテートから、さらにそれでも足らないGet Back演奏後のチャット部分だけ映画「LET IT BE」（あるいは来月公開される「GET BACK」）の撮影班が録音した、モノラルのいわゆるナグラ音源からパッチして片チャンネル欠落の欠点も無いGet Back Mark 2を復元するという今までにない斬新なコンセプトでまとめました。つまり「O.P.D.」の大元になったアセテートの完全再現ということ。
今回のオフィシャルのライナーでも触れられていた、アセテートの流出の原因がジョンによるものという説（おまけに本人も否定せず）がある中、もしかしたら彼がジャーナリストに渡したのはこのバージョンだったのかもしれません。

そして三枚目と四枚目には各年代の「GET BACK」を今回も収録。どちらも若干ながら遅かったピッチをアジャスト。さらにまた若干ながらイコライジングをやり直しており、どちらもウォーミーさが増しています。また70年版に関しては「Let It Be」の演奏終了時、キーボード類の減退音がヨレて（左チャンネルを注意して聞いてみてください）さらに微妙に余韻が欠けてしまう箇所を補修。ピッチを正確にアジャストした事で現存するアルバム・マスターのテープボックスに記されたランニングタイムと本盤のディスク4は完全に一致しており（テープボックスの写真はジャケット内側をご参照ください）、マニアックなポイントではありますが、このことからも単なる再発に留まらない徹底した見直しを図ったことが解ってもらえるかと。
これまた皮肉なことに、今回のオフィシャル・リリースが実現したことによって、むしろ69年版と70年版それぞれが資料として必要になってしまいました。しかもライナーノーツの中ではグリン・ジョンズがいかに重要な役割を果たしたかということが詳細に触れられていたのですが、そこに登場するアセテートまで網羅しているのが本タイトルの便利なところ。それを読みながら聞けばどっぷり浸れることでしょう。今回の事態によって、その再発は必然でした…オフィシャルでは物足りないあなたに！
