The legendary event “SUPER ROCK ’84” that has made the biggest impact on the history of Japanese HR / HM. The world’s first public master who reveals the moment of the opening is newly excavated. Introducing a press CD that permanently preserves the impact!
The performance of “August 4, 1984 Nagoya Baseball Stadium” is imbued with this work. All 5 groups appeared, but it is a superb audience recording of ANVIL and BON JOVI who acted as the opening. The event was so huge and legendary that there were a lot of titles both officially and underground. Some may be a little confused, but in reality most of them are from WHITESNAKE or MSG, which were birds. When it comes to recording ANVIL / BON JOVI, it will be extremely small. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s talk about it while organizing the circumstances around it. First of all, from the big picture of the big event tour.

・ August 4: Nagoya Baseball Stadium ← ★ This work ★
・ August 6: Fukuoka Sports Center
・ August 8: Square in front of Nanko Ferry Terminal
・ August 9: Square in front of Nanko Ferry Terminal
・ August 11: Seibu Stadium
→ “SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY (ANVIL / BON JOVI)”
・ August 12: Seibu Stadium
→ Official Pro Shot (ANVIL 2 songs / BON JOVI 4 songs)
→ “SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO SECOND DAY (BON JOVI only)”

Above, all 6 performances. Among them, the records of ANVIL and BON JOVI are about the official pro shot and audience set “SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY (Calm & Storm 015)” and “TOKYO SECOND DAY (Calm & Storm 016)”. Especially because ANVIL is not recorded in “TOKYO SECOND DAY”. It was only the official pro shot and “TOKYO FIRST DAY”. In such a situation, this work is completely different Nagoya. It was the moment when the big event of “first day + opening” started.
This work, which recorded such a historic stage, is a superb master who will be released for the first time in Japan. If you’ve noticed this article, you’ve probably noticed that Nagoya’s masterpiece recordings are appearing one after another, but this one also jumped out of the same recorder collection. It is the world’s first appearance master that has never been released to trade. Moreover, the quality is also amazing. Furiously on and super tight. After all, it is an outdoor Nagoya Baseball Stadium, so there are no walls or ceilings and there is no response. Moreover, probably because it was right next to the PA, the sound output was sucked in with zero sense of distance, and the super close contact sound of the sound board directly connected to the table explodes.
Until now, “ANVIL & BON JOVI” was “SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY”, but the super clear and tight feeling of this work surpasses even that masterpiece set (lightly!). In addition, BON JOVI’s Nagoya recording has recently appeared on the net, but this work is a completely different recording, and the quality is overwhelmingly superior.
The stage drawn with such a sound seems to be confusing with the historical spectacle and preciousness. Of course, I’ve never heard of a word from MC, but that’s not all. From here, let’s introduce the two groups individually.

[First half: ANVIL (6 songs)] ・ HARD’N’ HEAVY: School Love (*)
・ METAL ON METAL: March Of The Crabs / Metal On Metal (*) / Mothra
・ Others: Street Soldiers / Rock With You Tonight
* Note: The “*” mark is a song left in the official professional shot.
ANVIL, the most historical event, appears when it is played or popped out. From here, the high-quality sound is amazing. To be honest, there are scenes where the direction of the microphone is troubled in the first two songs, and there are moments when the on-site PA is unstable and spits out crunchy noise (well, it is the opening of the first day), but that is also “Mothra” By the time it starts, it will be stable, and after that, the super clear sound of the sound board class directly connected to the table will be fully opened.
And set. It’s almost like “SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY” … I think it’s very rare songs “Street Soldiers” and “Rock With You Tonight”.

[Second half: BON JOVI (6 songs)] ・ Dawn Runaway: Breakout (*) / Come Back / Roulette / Shot Through The Heart / Get Ready (*) / Runaway (*)
Next up is BON JOVI, whose first visit to Japan was “SUPER ROCK ’84”. Nagoya is the first day of that … Yes, this is the first time in the long and long history of BON JOVI’s visit to Japan. You can fully experience the premiere!
The set is a style that removes “She Don’t Know Me” from “SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY”, but that doesn’t matter. The first stage in Japan where each song is unknown. A lively performance that faced the waves of black hair for the first time in my life. Even the mysterious MC “BON JOVI loves rock! Japan !!” is fiercely innocent. And what further enhances the historical spectacle is the narration of a famous DJ who introduced them to Japan. I’ll talk about it before and after the show, but it’s already hot. Let’s write it out for a moment.

● Before the performance
“I didn’t really think that this group would come to Japan so quickly. I just saw it in New York the other day. It’s the first time for a really wonderful group to appear in Japan. Everyone welcomed with a big applause. Please! “” Please, welcome from USA !! My recommend artist, My Friend, BON! JO …… Crunchy ”

● After the performance
“Alright, BON JOVI!” “Goodbye applause, BON JOVI !!” “Listen to another song, BON JOVI !! Applause again at the end !!!”

Actually, I was still MC after the end of ANVIL, but the tension is obviously different. Then, I shouted the band name at the introduction, but in this historic moment, PA’s crunchy noise (bitter smile) again. It’s so historical that it’s completely wiped out (it sounds great once the performance starts).
In addition to PA noise, BON JOVI’s last “Get Ready” and “Runaway” also have microphone contact noise, so it is not a perfect recording. However, the basic quality that goes through the whole story is tremendous enough to ignore it, and the content is too important. It is a cultural heritage album that allows you to experience the enormous steps engraved in the history of Japanese Western music beyond the dimensions of a mere “first appearance master” and “first listening show”. Please experience it with the permanent storage press CD!

★ Superb audience recording of the performance of the legendary event “SUPER ROCK ’84” on the first day “August 4, 1984 Nagoya Baseball Stadium”. It was the first public master for the opening two groups, and it sucked in the sound output with zero sense of distance, probably because it was right next to the PA, and it was fiercely on and super tight. Maybe because it’s the first day, there may be some crunchy noise coming out of the scene, but the essential performance sound and singing voice are super close-fitting sounds that are directly connected to the table. ANVIL, which shows unreleased songs, and BON JOVI, which was a genuine Japanese premiere, are treasure albums of Japanese Western music history that can be enjoyed super-directly by historic DJs.

→『SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY(ANVIL/BON JOVI)』
→『SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO SECOND DAY(BON JOVI

この中でANVILやBON JOVIの記録と言えば、公式プロショットとオーディエンス・セット『SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY(Calm & Storm 015)』『TOKYO SECOND DAY(Calm & Storm 016)』程度。

【前半:ANVIL(6曲)】
・HARD ‘N’ HEAVY:School Love(*)
・METAL ON METAL:March Of The Crabs/Metal On Metal(*)/Mothra
Street Soldiers/Rock With You Tonight
おおよそは『SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY』に近い……と思いきや、激レア曲「Street Soldiers」「Rock With You Tonight」を披露している。

【後半:BON JOVI(6曲)】
Breakout(*)/Come Back/Roulette/Shot Through The Heart/Get Ready(*)/Runaway(*)
セットは『SUPER ROCK ’84 TOKYO FIRST DAY』から「She Don’t Know Me」を削ったスタイルなのですが、そんなことはどーでもよろしい。

皆さん、盛大な拍手で迎えてください!」「Please, welcome from U.S.A.!! My recommend artist, My Friend, BON! JO……

The main press CD is truly a cultural heritage of Japanese Western music history. It is the site where the biggest event in the history of music genre HR / HM has begun, and it is a live album that you can experience the best until the first stage of BON JOVI who climbs up to the national band of Japan while being an outside sauce. As I mentioned in the commentary, these two groups were also left in the official pro shot. Therefore, to celebrate the birth of the cultural heritage album, we have prepared the official video of the discontinued album.
The official work “SUPER ROCK ’84 IN JAPAN: SPECIAL DIGEST” released at that time is included in this work. Video products for each band were released from this event, but this work is a digest version of all bands recorded up to ANVIL. From the opening ANVIL to BON JOVI to SCORPIONS, to WHITESNAKE and M.S.G., you can enjoy it for about an hour with the finest multi-camera pro shots.

[First half: ANVIL (2 songs) / BON JOVI (2 songs)] ANVIL is the first to appear. The hard and solid performances of “Metal On Metal” (although the stage costumes are in the 1980s) are similar to the modern metal scene. Even the speedy “School Love” is very exciting for the fans. It can be said that this scene is reminiscent of a movie that has caused a great deal of attention to general fans (it is only this work that you can see them in pro shots when you are young).
BON JOVI will appear next. The second half of the live from “Get Ready” to “Runaway” is taken up here. The properly mixed and separated sound clearly hears not only John Such’s vocals and Richie Sambora’s guitar, but also David Rasche’s keyboard and the rhythms of Alec John Such and Tico Torres. John’s performance, which inspires the audience with his dynamic movements, is also youthful and is a point that even fans cannot miss.

[Second half: SCORPIONS (2 songs) / WHITESNAKE (3 songs) / MSG (3 songs)] This is the end of the main press CD, but the main event is the remaining 3 groups. Both have been released as individual video works, but you can enjoy several songs here as well.
The performance of SCORPIONS is recorded in 3rd place. You can enjoy the opening “Blackout” and the middle part of the live “Big City Nights”. SCORPIONS-like enthusiastic live performances, such as the high-tension performance of Rudolf Schenker and the front row spectators who heat up to the singing of Klaus Meine’s soul, can be felt even more brilliant with professional shots. The big performance of the vessel at “Big City Nights” that involves the entire venue is truly a veteran of the battle!
And fourth, the long-awaited WHITESNAKE appeared (because it is a night stage, you can see that this scene is live on the 11th). The powerful “Gambler” is a take that includes the ending part. It is also interesting that “Love Ain’t No Stranger” and “Slow An’Easy” and all three songs are selected from “SLIDE IT IN”.
At the end, M.S.G. (This is also a live at night, and it seems to be the take on the 12th when the headliner appeared). Ray Kennedy’s unstable vocals have also been retaken, and you can enjoy playing with confidence from “Cry For The Nations”. Of course, Michael showed off his enthusiastic guitar play. The new song “I’m Gonna Make You Mine” at that time, “Doctor Doctor” in the UFO era, and the sense of balance at that time can be felt realistically.

This video is a little short, less than 60 minutes in total, and some songs have interviews inserted during the performance, but those interviews are also equipped with Japanese subtitles. The biggest festival atmosphere in HR / HM history is a video work that you can fully enjoy. This work lets you experience the festival itself with the fun of professional shots, as opposed to the main press CD, which is overwhelming with the on-site feeling and preciousness. Please enjoy the summer 37 years ago.

【前半:ANVIL(2曲)/BON JOVI(2曲)】

【後半:SCORPIONS(2曲)/WHITESNAKE(3曲)/MSG(3曲)】
「Love Ain’t No Stranger」「Slow An’ Easy」と3曲とも『SLIDE IT IN』からのセレクトというのも興味深いところです。
当時の新曲だった「I’m Gonna Make You Mine」、UFO時代の「Doctor Doctor」と当時のバランス感覚までリアルに感じ取れる編集です。
