Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe / Lost Angeles 1989 Mike Millard First Generation Tapes / 2CDR / Amity
Play sample :
Along with ZEP and Stones, Mike Millard is also known as an avid fan of YES. The ABWH album left by such a legendary master is now available.
It was “September 6th + 7th, 1989 Los Angeles performance” that was imbued with this work. It is the transcendental audience recording. ABWH embarked on an album production and tour with Tony Levin on bass, but was replaced by Jeff Berlin on some dates. Let’s check the position of the show while organizing the situation.
● 1989
<< June 20 “Senkou” released >>
・ July 29-August 28: North America # 1a (25 performances)
《Tony Levin → Jeff Berlin change》
・ September 4-10: North America # 1b (7 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
《Return to Tony Levin》
・ October 20th-November 23rd: Europe (24 performances)
● 1990
・ February 21-23: Spain (3 performances)
・ March 1-8; Japan (6 performances)
・ March 12-23: North America # 2 (10 performances)
This is the outline of ABWH’s activities. The official work “AN EVENING OF YES MUSIC PLUS (September 9th)” was Berlin, but in fact it was a substitute for only 7 performances while Levin was collapsed due to food poisoning. The same “North America # 2b” is the same for the Los Angeles 2 performance of this work. It was the 3rd and 4th performances.
[The highest peak version that raised the accuracy of the patch performed by Millard himself] This work recorded at such a show is truly superb. Although there are waves in the mirrored collection, this work has a high quality sound that is hard to beat even by the standards of its legendary masters. However, it is not perfect. Millard recorded both LA 2 days (September 6th / 7th), and the main part of this work is the good-sounding “first day (September 6th)”. However, on this day, Millard was addicted to traffic jams and was late. I failed to record the first 10 minutes (just John Anderson’s solo time). So, I patched that part on “2nd day (September 7th)” at the same venue. It is in full show format. This is nothing we do on our own. This is what Millard himself did when he gave a copy to his friend (Rob), and this is the “1st Gene Tape” in the title. It seems that it is not available in other formats.Actually, the sound quality was as high as that on both days, and there was no difference in texture, but the big difference was the audience noise. Compared to the main recording on the first day (6th), the surrounding voice was louder on the second day (7th) at the beginning. When I listen to it, it sounds like the initially noisy audience became Howe’s solo and moved far away.
Also, in this work, such a connection part has been refinished seamlessly and beautifully. Mirrored is connected by manual dubbing of an analog cassette, and the original sound of the net is also switched with the same sound drop and chopping. Moreover, the stereo feeling was reversed in the complementary part, probably because I made a mistake during dubbing. Therefore, in this work, after adjusting the volume / sound pressure / stereo feeling of recording on both days, fade connection. Since the connection point is also the cheering part, we have achieved a natural finish that makes it difficult to know where the switch was made and when it was switched. [The world of super beautiful sounds that could only be achieved because of “mirrored + outdoors”] It’s been 10 minutes since the start, but after that it’s a blissful YES music evening. Perhaps because the site “GREEK THEATER” is an outdoor amphitheater, the output sound of PA is picked up with zero reverberation, and it is more on and direct than usual. Although the proof of the audience recording can be felt by the lively cheers, once the performance starts, if you do not keep thinking “This is a guest record, a guest record, a guest record”, you can only think of it as an official work. The superb sound of is endless.
The outdoor area without walls or ceilings that reflect sound is a great location for direct name recording. When the absolute master Mirrored Magic is added to that, such a great sound is realized. As mentioned above, this work has been patched by being late, and ABWH has many sound boards. I introduced it from the Amity label in consideration of two circumstances, but the sound itself flowing from the speaker is completely press grade … No, it is an utopia of YES music that surpasses even the official work “AN EVENING OF YES MUSIC PLUS”. is.
The beauty and vivid sound that could only be achieved by Mirrored, who loved YES and was familiar with the sound output by repeatedly recording. Please fully experience this work of the highest peak version.
★ Recording of a superb audience of “September 6, 1989 Los Angeles performance”. Even in the Absolute Master Mirrored Collection, it has an exceptional sound, and because it is an outdoor amphitheater, the output sound of PA is picked up with zero echo, and it is more on and direct than usual. However, at that time, Millard was late due to traffic congestion, and only the first 10 minutes (John’s solo corner) was patched on “September 7” the next day (the original sound was Millard’s manual work, but this work Then I reconnected it seamlessly and beautifully). It is a two-disc set that exceeds the official, packed with beauty and vivid sound that can only be achieved by Mirrored who loves YES and is familiar with sound output by repeatedly recording.
