Powerful guitarist: Alice Cooper, the 80’s emperor who returned to the forefront with Kane Roberts. Introducing a masterpiece video from the “RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL” era that cannot be experienced with official videos or professional shots.
This work was filmed at “February 12, 1988 in Toronto”. That audience shot. The biggest point of this work is the quality that balances the wonderful view and experience, but at the same time, the show itself is also important. Speaking of the Kane era, the official video work “THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS” is famous, but that was the “CONSTRICTOR” era immediately after returning. This work is the full video of the next “RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL” tour, the so-called “LIVE IN THE FLESH 1987-1988”. This is the whole picture of the MCA era. I ran through three years at a unique pace of touring the United States until spring after the end of the year. The official video “THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS” was in its very early stages, but this work was the 25th performance of “North America # 3b” in the final stage.
This work taken at such a show is a truly spectacular audience shot. It’s a diagonal shot from the left side of the stage, but thanks to the steep upstairs stand, you can monopolize the stage without being bothered by the shadows of the front row. Moreover, it is stable as if it were used on a tripod. And the zoom that approaches from the superb view is wonderful. The opening “Teenage Frankenstein” is captured in a distant view where you can enjoy a sense of scale and a horror set, but from the second song “No More Mr. Nice Guy” where you can grasp the state of the show, you will get closer to the action. .. As expected, there is only analog shooting where video has just become popular, so the facial expressions and wrinkles are not clear … You can also enjoy Alice who hits the doll, Kane who sweeps with a machine gun type guitar, and a super high leg SM dancer (the whip battle with Alice is really thrilling. Dangerous!).
It is a full show full of precious numbers that is drawn with such quality. Speaking of the Kane era, the official video “THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS” is the standard, so let’s organize the set while comparing here.

… And it looks like this. The biggest feature is the new song at that time, which was behaved on a large scale. The revival drama of the MCA era is highly evaluated in the history of Alice, but the numbers at that time are rarely played. In particular, the second “RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL” is an endangered species, and four of the five songs shown in this work are played only on this tour, with the only exception “Roses On White Lace”. Even so, it is an extremely rare song that was sealed for 31 years until 2019.
It is also good that the previous work “Teenage Frankenstein”, which survived only one song, is the opening. After all, “THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS” continued to be classics from the top for a while, and it was hard to get a metallic number. On the other hand, this work is metallic from the moment it starts. If you compare this to Ozzy, is it the difference between “BARK AT THE MOON TOUR” and “THE ULTIMATE SIN TOUR”? Both are sharply transformed by Jake’s guitar, while the latter, which started at “Bark at the Moon”, is more metallic. Moreover, in the case of Alice, a monster in iron armor also appeared from the opening and battled with Alice. It’s a sudden highlight.
Also, classics are also a point. All five songs that are not in “THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS TOUR” seem to be big classics, but if it is Kane Roberts to play it, the story is different. Not only is it re-dyed with that technical and splendid guitar, but you can also see plenty of it being knocked down with that mukimuki’s body.

Alice, the emperor who has taken in various music such as new wave, punk, and industrial. In particular, heavy metal was outstandingly compatible with its own horror and dramaticism. It is a video work that you can experience the “RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL” tour where there is no professional shot even though it is such “Metallic Alice” from the special seat. 豪腕ギタリスト:ケイン・ロバーツと共に最前線に復帰した80年代の帝王アリス・クーパー。公式映像やプロショットでは味わえない『RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL』時代の傑作映像が登場です。
 そんな本作が撮影されたのは「1988年2月12日トロント公演」。そのオーディエンス・ショットです。本作最大のポイントは素晴らしい絶景と体験を両立したクオリティにあるわけですが、それと同時にショウそのものも重要。ケイン時代と言えば、公式の映像作『THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS』が有名なわけですが、あれは復帰直後の『CONSTRICTOR』時代。本作は、その次となる『RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL』のツアー、いわゆる“LIVE IN THE FLESH 1987-1988”のフル映像なのです。良い機会でもありますので、アリス史上最もヘヴィ・メタリックだった2つのツアーをまとめて俯瞰してみましょう。
・1月1日-3月6日:北米#3b(38公演) ←★ココ★
 これがMCA時代の全体像。年末を挟んで春まで全米ツアーを行う独特なペースで、足かけ3年を駆け抜けました。公式映像『THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS』はその極初期だったわけですが、本作は終盤「北米#3b」の25公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
 そんなショウで撮影された本作は、まさに絶景のオーディエンス・ショット。ステージ左側からの斜めショットなのですが、角度の急な2階スタンドのおかげで前列の影に悩まされずステージを独占できる。しかも、三脚でも使っているかのようにビシッと安定しているのです。そして、その絶景からグイグイと迫るズームが素晴らしい。冒頭の「Teenage Frankenstein」はスケール感とホラーなセットを味わうような遠景で捉えられていますが、ショウの様子が掴めた2曲目「No More Mr. Nice Guy」からはアクションに沿ってグイッと寄る。さすがにビデオが普及したばかりのアナログ撮影だけあって表情やシワまでくっきり……とはいきませんが、それでも半身が画面からハミ出すほ果敢。人形をいたぶるアリスやマシンガン型ギターで掃射するケイン、超ハイレグのSMダンサー(アリスとの鞭バトルは本当にスレスレ。危なっ!)もアップで楽しめるのです。
 そんなクオリティで描かれるのは、貴重ナンバー目白押しのフルショウ。ケイン時代と言えば、公式映像『THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS』が基準になりますので、ここでは比較しながらセットを整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。最大の特徴は大盤振る舞いされる当時の新曲。MCA時代の復活劇はアリス史でも評価は高いのですが、その頃のナンバーはほとんど演奏されていない。特に2枚目の『RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL』は絶滅危惧種で、本作で披露される5曲のうち4曲がこのツアーでしか演奏されていませんし、唯一の例外「Roses On White Lace」にしても2019年まで31年封印されていたという激レア曲なのです。
 さらに1曲だけ生き残った前作の「Teenage Frankenstein」がオープニングなのも良い。何しろ、『THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS』はトップからしばらくクラシックスが続き、なかなかメタリック・ナンバーが出てこなかった。それに対し、本作は開演の瞬間から金属的。これをオジーに喩えるなら“BARK AT THE MOON TOUR”と“THE ULTIMATE SIN TOUR”の違いでしょうか。どちらもジェイクのギターでシャープに変貌しつつ、「Bark at the Moon」で開演するようになった後者の方がよりメタリック。しかもアリスの場合、オープニングから鉄甲冑のモンスターも登場してアリスとバトル。いきなりの見どころなのです。
 また、クラシックスもポイント。“THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS TOUR”にはない5曲はいずれも大定番のようですが、それを弾くのがケイン・ロバーツとなれば話は別。あのテクニカルで華麗なギターで染め変えられているだけでなく、あのムッキムキの身体で弾き倒す姿がたっぷりと観られるのです。
 ニューウェーブやパンク、インダストリアル等々、さまざまな音楽を取り込んできた帝王アリス。特にヘヴィメタルは持ち前のホラー感&ドラマティシズムとの相性が抜群でした。そんな“メタリック・アリス”ながらプロショットが存在しない『RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL』ツアーを特等席から体験できる映像作品です。公式映像『THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS』でさえ霞む重金属ホラーなフルショウ。どうぞ、この機会にたっぷりとお楽しみください!
