“FLY ON THE WALL Tour” is an unexplored region with delicious performances and precious numbers that are no different from the peak. Introducing a new excavation live album that lets you experience the scene in the best possible way.
This work was recorded in “January 13, 1986 Manchester performance”. It is a powerful audience recording. This is AC / DC in 1985/1986. The world tour will start after the release of “FLY ON THE WALL”, but the “North America # 1 + Europe” is the “FLY ON THE WALL Tour”, and the soundtrack “WHO MADE WHO” is sandwiched between “North America # 2”. Was “WHO MADE WHO Tour”. The Manchenster performance of this work is the former “Europe” leg. It was the first day of 1986, when it restarted for the first time in about two months.
This work recorded at such a kick-off site is a superb sound that awakens the eyes with a thick core. There is no sense of distance anyway. If you analyze while staring at the waveform, you can detect the hall noise, but even if you listen carefully with headphones, you can not feel the blur or cloudiness. It seems that the cheers and applause that boil between songs are like an audience (the big chorus of “Whole Lotta Rosie”, “Let There Be Rock”, “Hells Bells” is amazing!), But this is often the case with radio broadcasts. When played with the sound that seems to be AC ​​/ DC, it seems that it was a masterpiece that would not feel strange even if it was recorded in “BACK IN BLACK” or “FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK (WE SALUTE YOU)”.
The “FLY ON THE WALL” era, which tends to be slightly dented in the AC / DC history that has always been a monster. However, the rare songs were delicious because of that era, and the performance era kept the fierceness unique to the 1980s. This work is a valuable masterpiece that allows you to fully experience such a show with the sound of a straight ball just like a sound board. これが1985年／1986年のAC/DC。『FLY ON THE WALL』のリリース後にワールド・ツアーを開始しますが、その「北米#1＋欧州」が“FLY ON THE WALL Tour”で、サントラ盤『WHO MADE WHO』を挟んだ「北米#2」が“WHO MADE WHO Tour”でした。本作のマンチェンスター公演は前者にあたる「欧州」レッグ。約２ヶ月ぶりに再始動した1986年一発目の初日でした。
そんなキックオフの現場で記録された本作は、極太な芯に目も醒める極上サウンド。とにかく距離感がない。波形とにらめっこしながら分析すればホール鳴りも検出できるのでしょうが、ヘッドフォンで耳を澄ましてもボケも曇りも感じ取れない。曲間になると沸き立つ喝采や拍手がオーディエンスらしいと言えばらしい（「Whole Lotta Rosie」「Let There Be Rock」「Hells Bells」の大合唱が凄い！）のですが、これくらいならラジオ放送にもありがちなだしな……と迷うレベル。ぶっちゃけた話、ディレイを効かせすぎていたスタジオ作『FLY ON THE WALL』よりもシャキッとしていて、「これぞAC/DC本来の出音！」と膝を叩きたくなるのです。
そのド直球サウンドで描かれるのは、貴重曲が美味しい“FLY ON THE WALL Tour”のフルショウ。サイモン・ライト時代のライヴというと『PLUG ME IN』で公式化された1983年ヒューストン公演もありますが、本作はそこでも聴けないレパートリーが山盛り。ここで比較しながらセットを整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。大代表曲の美味しいサイモン・バージョンがズラリと並ぶ中で、耳を惹くのはやはり『FLY ON THE WALL』ナンバー。いずれもこのツアーでしか演奏されなかったレア曲ばかりですし、しかもスタジオ盤よりも音がナチュラル＆タイト。本来あるべきAC/DCらしいサウンドで演奏されると『BACK IN BLACK』や『FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK (WE SALUTE YOU)』に収録されたとしても違和感のない名曲だったと思い知られるのです。
常に怪物であり続けたAC/DCヒストリーの中にあると若干凹みがちとなってしまう『FLY ON THE WALL』時代。しかしそんな時代だからこそのレア曲が美味しく、演奏時代は80年代ならではの苛烈さをキープしていました。本作は、そんなショウをサウンドボードばりのド直球サウンドでフル体験できてしまう貴重な大傑作。こんなライヴアルバムに出逢えてしまうから、アンダーグラウンド録音は止められない。コレクター冥利に尽きる一作、どうぞ思う存分お楽しみください！
