1973年日本ツアーより、東京3公演全てをオリジナル・マスター・カセットより、高音質オーディエンス録音で、リマスター収録したプレスCD 6枚組が登場です。過去にリリースされていた名盤「Heart Of The Sunrise」「Close To The East」「In Japan」のマスター音源を改めて現行の技術でリマスター収録し、伝説の東京3連続公演を6枚組で再現しています。昨年秋に同内容の企画でAmityレーベルよりCDRリリースされ、「これだけ高品質な内容のセットならプレス盤で欲しい」という、多くのファンからの熱烈なリクエストにお応えしての特別企画です。それぞれ、オリジナル・リリースより10年近い時を経て再リリースなわけですから、装丁・内容ともに、決定盤として相応しい作品に仕上がっています。3公演ともに大元のマスターカセットより丁寧にリマスター。Amity版6枚組のコピーでは無く、カットポイントの補填も含め、全ての公演テイクで念入りな処理を施してあります。(マスターからの再収録なので、その質感・音色は別物のような輝きを放っています。)

ディスク1&2には3月8日新宿厚生年金会館音源を、リマスター収録。初めて「イエス」という話題のバンドを目にするという観客の緊張感が静けさと共に伝わってくる端正なサウンドで、既発盤を評したbeatleg誌(vol.52)でも「前代未聞の発掘音源」「殆どPAの前に陣取っていたらしく、音が妙にデッドに録音されている」「これだけデッドに録れているのであれば、プロがマスタリングを施せば、オフィシャル・ブートとしても十分に対応できるはずだ」と大絶賛。「全てがマジカルな希少品だ」と締めています。ここで記されている通り、おそらく録音ポジションが右PAの真ん前であり、ゆえに左PAにパンされた音が入らないので、一瞬楽音バランスが変に聴こえるパートもありますが、それでもこのクオリティでイエス初来日初日公演を押さえたのは本当に奇跡と言って良いでしょう。ディスク3&4は当時のbeatleg誌(vol.40)でも「特筆すべきはそのサウンド・クオリティ」「これだけクリアに録れているのは驚きである」「座席の位置もかなり前らしく、ダイレクトに録れているので、一瞬PAアウトの音源かと聴き違える程だ。」と大絶賛。ディスク5&6は3日目ということで、初めての公演地での緊張感がほぐれたせいか、逆にHeart Of The Sunriseでキメがボロボロになりかけたり、リズムが狂ったり、更にはジョンが歌詞を忘れると言う失態も聴けますが、総合点としての評価は上々。beatleg誌でも「30年経ってもこのクォリティとは素晴らしいものだ」と音質を高評価。面白いのはI’ve Seen All Good People終演後に「昨晩覚えた日本のフォークソングを歌います」というMCの後に演奏される「さくらさくら」で、後年の童謡ひとり舞台のように「ちょっと歌ってみました」的なノリとは違い、ハーモニーも含め、非常にしっかりと演奏する様に、この頃の何にでも真剣 かつ真摯な姿勢で向かうバンドの気合い・精神的な気高さといったものを感じるほどです。ちょっとなぞっての演奏で、この出来栄えは全くもって大したものです。キーボード周りのアクシデントも含めはらはらする部分もありますが、本当の意味で神々しいムードに満ちたイエス初期の伝説の東京3公演は世界中、全てのイエス・ファン必聴と断言して良いでしょう。

1973年の東京公演の録音が、3公演とも、統一感すら感じさせる程の抜群の高音質で録音されていたという事実は、歴史的な検証を行うにおいて、大変幸運なことでありました。それぞれ別のテーパーが録音した、それぞれの公演を代表する高品質なカセットテープが、39年の時を経て、ここに集結し、今回、最良の形でセットリリースされることは、ある種の運命的な必然性すら感じさせるような出来事と感じます。音質はどれもが均等に素晴らしく、全公演とも時代を考えれば、全て「Perfect」とレイトしたくなるような絶品のサウンドで記録されています。欠損の補填箇所としては、東京2日目の3月9日渋谷公会堂テイクの And You and I 7:51 – 8:21の欠損、そしてアンコールのYours Is No DisgraceとStarship Trooperは、同日別音源マスターより丁寧かつ自然に補填されています。こちらの別音源も高音質ですので、本盤の登場により、初めてこの日を最初から最後まで完全な状態で聴くことができるというわけです。東京3日目の神田共立講堂公演音源はFirebird Suiteの27秒からSiberian Khatruの1分目までの欠損を、初日テイクで繋いで一気に自然に聴けるように調整しました。またこちらも元テープより欠損しているClose To The Edge 5:34 – 6:06も同じく初日テイクで繋いでいます。音質も全て向上しており、まさに「決定盤」に相応しいパーフェクトな内容になっています。ファン必聴・必携の1973年初来日東京3公演を全て高音質で収録したプレスCD6枚組が限定特別セットで登場です。

★初回納品盤に、30ページに及ぶ、大変貴重な1973年初来日パンフレットをミニチュアサイズで完全復刻したプログラム・レプリカが付きます。当時の有名音楽評論家による寄稿「イエス – Exquisite & Superb!」等、当時の世相を感じさせる読み物も満載。巻末にはリック・ウェイクマンの「ヘンリー8世の六人の妻」の広告が一ページ掲載されていますが、「メロトロンがうなり、ムーグが叫ぶ!!」「五台のマシーンを縦横無尽にあやつるリック・ウェイクマンがその効果を120%発揮したファン待望のソロアルバム、遂に発売!」など刺激的なキャッチコピーも目を惹きます。当時の世相・文化を知る上でもたいへん貴重な一冊となっています。
