The whole picture of the recording of the two performances recorded for the radio program “KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR” from the American tour “FALLOUT SHELTER” 1973 “The Fu 1973 realized at the” WOLFGANG ‘S VAULT “site (now” CONCERT VAULT “) in 2007 What was revealed was a breakthrough excavation that will converge speculation on the adoption of “TALES FROM THE WHO” which was controversial until then. Until then it was announced that it was “recorded in Philadelphia · Spectrum” at the time of KBFH broadcast while editing a combination from two performances? When. Certainly it will be possible for radio broadcasting. However, the excavation in 2007 revealed that all the Philadelphia take was used during broadcasting.
As a result, on December 6, Lago’s stereo sound board recording will have entered the store until 2007. However, the excavated sound source has a wonderful state of the mix and the sound quality is the official level. Nevertheless, if you speculate on the reasons why you were in the warehouse, you can point to the audience that is excited too soon after the start of the show, heading for the audience to the front of the arena, and encouraging him to go down. Furthermore, happening that John Entwistle’s bass sound does not come out at the end of “My Generation” may be one cause. And the main reason is that the recording main for the radio is Philadelphia on 4th, and it is considered that you recorded the 6th as a backup staff to the end.
Although it is an unfaithful sound source that did not see the sun at that time like this, the contents of the performance was shining like a fuselessly boiling tension of 73 years. It can only be said that it is a live performance at the height of a truly. Actually released as “LARGO 1973” in 2007, it recorded the best seller as well as Philadelphia. Rather, each of Philadelphia and Lago has a listening position and each performance is wonderful, so the significance of excavating these sound sources is immeasurable.

It is “QUADROPHENIA” finally created as a big concept since “TOMMY”, after the album concept by Pete called “LIFEHOUSE” and “ROCK IS DEAD” has undergone a series of successions, but the synthesizer which was the latest technology at the time, Since it was a sound making album that included horns and the like everywhere, at the stage, sounds other than the four members were compensated for by feeding the tape. This is the first method introduced in “Will not Get Fooled Again” to make an effect. However, when trying to make use of tape playback further with “QUADROPHENIA” which has more complex tracks of decorative musical instruments, the difficulties are secondary to stage.
At that time it was a very primitive system that only stages, monitors and staff began spreading to arena concerts are relying on timing tape. Naturally, the timing of the performance of the tape and the band does not match often. In fact, in Philadelphia, the performance has started without being switched from “I Am the Sea” to “The Real Me” at all, but it has been adopted as it is for the broadcast of KBFH. Because of that, in Lago I am in the arrogance that I will start “The Real Me” without shedding “I Am the Sea” part. On the contrary, Pete admits that it is impossible to completely reproduce the set of “QUADROPHENIA” and “QUADROPHENIA” set even if doing a lot if you say a few songs, it will not work on the stage (lol). Today’s “Reproduction of album full songs” live is a matter of course, but it was also the tour where The Fu who had no idea of putting support musicians at the time bumped into the limits of technology.

Whether there are problems with these technologies, The Who’s performance itself is the best without a multiplier. Especially regarding Keith Moon’s drumming, it seems that this time was one vertex. He is a character with a large number of sounds as if filling up space, but he is also characterized by his drumming at this time that also incorporates fineness. Philadelphia ‘s “My Wife” etc was the best example, but here in Lago his drumming delivers the troubles happened at the end of the “My Generation” mentioned earlier by his drumming is wonderful. It is Keith who tends to be told only stolen images, but from this scene it should be able to see how he was an outstanding player. The same thing applies to “Dr. Jimmy”, and the whole band’s performance that was well engaged with the tape is also excellent. And in Philadelphia, Roger, who seemed to be singing pretty well, is holding on.
For the above reasons, “Love, Reign O’er Me” which was not played in Philadelphia was played tightly here and decorated the finale of “QUADROPHENIA” set. Considering that the recording for the radio broadcast was carried out on the premise of the promotion of the album, it seems like it was necessary to incorporate only this song played only with Largo in the two performances into the broadcast.
And this time it will be a release for a long time, although the mixing balance and the sound quality itself are excellent, Schwaszwa feeling of cymbals distributed more than Philadelphia is prominent. So we relaxed the emphasis of the treble centered on the cymbal and further finished the upper version which resolved the feeling of muddiness of the whole sound quality from the 2007 edition. Although it is somewhat improved overall, this will sound John ‘s outstanding lead base clearly, and you can experience the trouble in the example’ My Generation ‘realistically. The two biggest stereo soundboard recordings representing The Who ‘s 1973 re – appeared with fullness. In this lago, Keith’s song is also high tension “Bell Boy” is also the best!
